Raritan Public Library

Return of Funds and Future Vision of the Library

Raritan Public Library recently returned funds to the Borough of Raritan, making

this the third consecutive year. Altogether, the Library has given back over

$450,000.00 and this money according to the NJ Statute; N.J. S.A.40A:4-25.1 is to be

used to reduce the local property tax levy for the taxpayers of Raritan.

The Library’s long-term goal has been to run efficiently and as effectively as possible.

With this in mind, it has created a three year strategic plan to encompass town

growth and changing demographics. The Library has established a capital fund for

possible expansion and/or space reconfiguration. It is also considering making the

Library more handicapped accessible.

Raritan Library continues to maintain highly informative programs and materials for

all ages. Its top priority is to provide superior services to the Community.

Author Lecture on the Lindbergh Kidnapping

Thursday, February 28 @ 6:30 pm

Join Author Robert Zorn as he discloses new information on “Cemetery John”: the Undiscovered Mastermind of the Baby Lindbergh Kidnapping. Mr. Zorn’s father had a personal connection with two other men who might have been involved in the plot to abduct Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. from the Hopewell, NJ home on March 1st 1932. Through meticulous research and interviews with crime and forensic specialists, the Author will give a “new” perspective on the “Crime of the Century.” Lecture followed by a question and answer period. Register for this fascinating program. Watch on PBS – NOVA: Who Killed Lindbergh’s Baby? as expert investigators re-examine one of the greatest murder cases of all time. NOVA developed this documentary based on Robert Zorn's book and findings! Airing: January 30th 2013 @ 9:00 pm on PBS.

1-on-1 Computer Classes Call to set up an appointment.

If you don't know how to use the Internet or e-mail this is a perfect way to learn. Brendan Meany will sit down with you

individually at a computer for 1 hour and explain to you step-by-step how to

navigate the Internet. You can learn to start up an e-mail address, fill out online forms, or just how to browse the Internet for information. Don't be shy. It will only take a little practice to get the hang of it.

1-on-1 Resume Classes Call to set up an appointment.

Learn how to create an effective resume using a computer. This class is for anyone who wants to make their first resume, for someone who has one that needs a little

fixing up, or even for those who just aren't comfortable writing a resume on the

computer. All 1-2 hour classes are hosted by Brendan Meany on a 1-on-1,

consecutive basis. Please call ahead to set up a time to come in.

Create special Valentine's Day cards for the special people in your life. Don't forget to sign up. For pre-teens and teens ages 10+

Teen Book Swap ~ Saturday, Feb. 9

Teens: stop by the library (900's room) anytime between 1:00-3:00 pm and bring a book or a few with you to exchange for brand new books! (Max 3) Please do not bring books that are in bad condition. Sign up is not required, just show up!

Duct Tape Program ~ Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1:00-2:30 pm

Drop in to make unique creations with duct tape. Learn how to make a realistic duct tape rose pen and decorate notebooks and folders. Don't forget to sign up so we have enough supplies. For pre-teens and teens ages 10+

After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out
