What is raising attainment

• ‘Raising attainment is about encouraging and inspiring Scotland’s children to have the confidence and ambition to be all they can be.’

Raising Attainment in Schools

What is peer and self-assessment?• Constructivist model

• ‘Assessment by pupils, far from being a luxury is an essential part of formative assessment.’ Black and Wiliam.

• A skill for life long learning

• Peer tutoring -Evidence that children can benefit from instruction provided by a more capable peer.

Why is it important?

• Feedback

• Helps the teacher with their assessment

• Study - comment based marking found to be best form of feedback.
