THE RADICAL STEWARDSHIP OF MONEYRadicalis 2011 Session 6

    Rick Warren

Jesus said, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not

consist in the abundance of his possessions." Luke 12:15 (NIV)

LESSONS FROM A SHREWD MONEY MANAGERLUKE 16:1-13

Jesus told his disciples: There once was a rich man whose manager was accused of wastinghis masters possessions. So the Owner called him in and asked, Whats this I hear aboutyou? I want you to give an account of what youve done with MY money, because your time asmy manager is ending The manager said to himself, What am I going to do now? Im losingmy job as a manager but I'm not strong enough to dig ditches and I'm too proud to beg. I knowwhat I'll do - so that Ill have friends to take care of me when I lose my job.

So he called in each one of his master's debtors. He asked the first, How much do you owemy master? 800 gallons of olive oil, he replied. The manager said, Take your bill, sit downquickly, and make it 400. Then the manager found another debtor and asked, How much doYOU owe? 1000 bushels of wheat, he replied. The manager said, OK, change your bill tosay you only own 800. Luke 16:1-7

When the Master heard what the dishonest manager had done, he still commended hisshrewdness. For the people of this world are more shrewd in handling their affairs than arethe people who belong to the Light. Luke 16:8
