• I. God Is The Owner Of All

the heaven and the earth.”

• One who manages or oversees the affairs or estate of another

• And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

1. Earning Money

• God expects His children to earn a living

• And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

• Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

• Many spend what they do not have – this leads to conflict and unnecessary pressure

• It is people spending money they don’t have on things they don’t need to impress people they do not like.

• Credit cards have made it easy for us to spend what we do not have --- and many pay a heavy price for going too far into debt

• We need to be careful how much we borrow

• The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

3. Saving

• One important reason to live on less than you make is so that you can save for the future

• We must be disciplined in saving for a house, college, retirement, etc.

• Saving is the practice of wise stewardship and it also provides for the financial needs that may arise in case of emergencies

• A very important part of Christian living and service to God is GIVING!

• Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

• Scriptural giving allows for the work of the church to be carried out

• Evangelism, edification and benevolence

• Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also

• This should be our first concern with all we earn

• God has always demanded the first fruits of ones increase – not what is left over when other obligations are met

• Giving to God should be first, then the rest of needs will be met

• But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

• In financial matters Christians should always use wisdom and caution in decision-making

• “How we manage the financial aspect of our lives has a direct impact on our families, the church, and our usefulness in God’s service.”
