Question 7 – Looking back at your preliminary task, how have you progressed so far/ what have you learnt? From my preliminary task to my finished product, I feel that I have learnt a lot. I have learnt how to successfully style models and capture photos of them to use within my magazine. In my preliminary task, I found it hard to use Photoshop, now I can easily construct a magazine all over again, learning new skills such as how to use different tools. When constructing the preliminary, as a student magazine it lacked many qualities a magazine must have, the most important being its professional look. I have learnt many new things, gaining a wider knowledge in a music genre and music magazines in general, learning about distributors and codes and conventions that must be followed in order for magazines to sell. Looking back at my front cover from my preliminary, you can see the image I have used does not look like it would be used in an actual magazine, it lacks a definitive edge needed in a magazine front cover and the shot type breaks the codes and conventions.

Question 7 Looking back at your preliminary task, how have you progressed so far/ what have you learnt?

From my preliminary task to my finished product, I feel that I have learnt a lot. I have learnt how to successfully style models and capture photos of them to use within my magazine. In my preliminary task, I found it hard to use Photoshop, now I can easily construct a magazine all over again, learning new skills such as how to use different tools. When constructing the preliminary, as a student magazine it lacked many qualities a magazine must have, the most important being its professional look. I have learnt many new things, gaining a wider knowledge in a music genre and music magazines in general, learning about distributors and codes and conventions that must be followed in order for magazines to sell.Looking back at my front cover from my preliminary, you can see the image I have used does not look like it would be used in an actual magazine, it lacks a definitive edge needed in a magazine front cover and the shot type breaks the codes and conventions.Compared to the image I used for my front cover, the shot is angled more professionally and shows direct mode of address, appealing to the reader. My front cover overall has progressed greatly, with me being able to use new tools available and trying my best to add touches to my magazine that makes it more appealing to my reader.

I realise that I have also learnt how to style different people in my magazine, for example on my finished product I had integrated models into different parts of my magazine, to add style and not become too focused on one aspect/image.

On my preliminary, I couldnt integrate images effectively, thus failing to make my magazine appealing. This is progress I have made through my magazine.

Overall, throughout my magazine I have learnt how to keep a consistent house style and branding. I have learned how to effectively integrate aspects and different elements into my magazine product and how to also come up with ideas that explore a certain topic within my magazine (alternative music for my finished product).
