2. 2. 3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? A media institution is an established organisation that addresses the creation and distribution of advertising and entertainment in any media for example television and radio.

TeamRock is a distributor of specifically rock magazines in the UK, although it is smaller than Bauer media group and Future PLC it is a niche based distributor and represents some of the UK's best known rock music magazines. The magazines that TeamRock specialise in distributing are similar to mine for example Classic rock magazine and Metal Hammer. Teamrock currently distribute five magazines which shows that there is already a market made for my product and also offers a multi-media platform for my music magazine to be advertised from, for example TeamRock have there own radio station which provides my magazine with a wider audience and a well known rock
5. 5. 3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Bauer media is a part of the Bauer media group that is one of the largest names in UK publishing. Bauer media offers over 300 magazines to 15 countries as well as other media platforms such as television and radio stations. Bauer offers the largest field of media for my music magazines distribution. Bauer is not specifically a music magazine publishers as it also distributes magazines for fishing, motoring and gardening enthusiasts. Bauer media will offer the largest support to the publication of my music magazine through the use of cross-media coverage of my magazine. Bauer already offers magazines similar to mine for example, 'Q' magazine and 'Kerrang!' magazine which suggests that they already have extensive knowledge with this kind of magazine, but does not specifically specialise with Rock genre music magazines like TeamRock does.
6. 6. 3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Future PLC is one of the largest music magazine distributors in the UK have a very large field of expertise. Future PLC distribute a large variety of magazines from computer and gaming magazines to car enthusiast magazines which shows they have large potential in the distribution of my magazine and can offer large advertising campaigns and funding. However Future PLC does not currently distribute a magazine that is closely related or similar to mine enough to say that they have a good background for the distribution of my magazine in comparison to competitors such as TeamRock with 'Metal Hammer' magazine or Bauer Media with 'Kerrang!'

Conclusion; Future PLC although it is a large company with a reliable background I do not believe it has the expertise that I am looking for in terms of my magazine, it does not currently have many music magazines and makes me doubt the capabilities when compared to Bauer and TeamRock that both offer a wider range of music magazines and specifically Rock genre music magazines. TeamRock has a small portfolio of Magazines when compared to Future PLC and Bauer but has the advantage that it is specifically tailored to distribute rock magazines has a a trusted background with some of the best known magazines in the UK, however I believe that Bauer is a better option for my music magazine because it is a much larger, affluent company that can offer the mass market approach that my magazine will rely on.
