How did you use media technologies in the construction,

research, planning and evaluation stages?

Planning and Research Section

At the beginning of our coursework unit I had to conduct research into music videos I used youtube in order to look at other music videos. I also documented my findings using by screenshotting the clips and using things such as thinglink to analyse the images. Most of the videos watched a variety of different videos some were pop but majority Hip-Hop from artists such as Joey Badass, School Boy Q, Danny Brown and Little Simz. I also used vimeo in order to watch previous student work this was interesting because it gave me an idea of what I could possibly create. Some were better than other and it pushed me to ensure my planning for my video was in order so I did not end up with a terrible video. I used blogger to document all of this planning including storyboards, production schedules on timetoast and risk assessments.

Planning and Research section

When creation presentations I used different technologies such as: emaze and Prezi in order to break up large topics and make them more interesting to read. For example when I was presenting the different locations which we planned to use for our music video I created a prezi which had images and description of what we were going to gilm in that location. I also used prezi to analyse the work of Prezi years digipaks because I could zoom in to images easily to give my analysis.

ProductionWhen we were filming we used a variety of different technologies such as a JVC video camera to film all shots for the music video, we used a Nikon D3200 to take stills of the filming process and an IPhone 6 to take behind the scene snaps of the filming. We uploaded videos and pictures to snapchat, instagram and twitter during the whole process.

Post-ProductionIn order to edit our footage we using the used final cut pro on the macs at college. We edited our video by using base track editing which I found to be particularly easy and enjoyable. Using final cut pro came easy due to experience with it last year. Editing to the beat was interesting because it was almost like creating a pattern with the clips. The hardest part was to actually choose which clips to use because me had 50+ base tracks. I like final cut because it gives a very professional finish when adding effects and transitions. We also used camtastia in order to edit feedback which we recorded on the flip cameras. Camtasia is better to use for small projects such as this because it is simple to add text and transitions which do not have to look very professional and its very easy to use.

Ancillary WorkWhen creating my Ancillary products I use slidely to showcase which images were my ideas for the cover and advertisement. The images were all taken with a nikon D3200 in the studio at college. I used this because it allowed me to showcase all image ideas and add music to it. When creating my ancillary its self I used photoshop to manipulate images how I wanted and also it gives you a lot of creative control over types of text, colour and design. When adding my background I was glad I decided to use Photoshop because it was easy to add tv static and choose how fuzzed it actually was.
