What are STEM Learning Ecosystems?STEM Learning Ecosystems provide the architecture for cross-sector learning, offering all young people access to STEM-rich learning environments so they can develop important skills and engagement in science, technology, engineering and math throughout preK-16.

Strong STEM Learning Ecosystems feature dynamic collaborations among schools, out-of-school time programs, STEM expert institutions (such as museums, science centers, institutions of higher education and STEM professional associations), the private sector, community-based organizations, youth and families.

OUR MISSION

Girls Who Code works to inspire, educate, and equip girls with the computing skills needed to pursue 21st century opportunities.

Our vision is to reach gender parity in computing and technology sectors.

WHO WE SERVE

Girls Who Code serves all girls, especially those who:

➔ Are underrepresented in computer science and technology fields in terms of race, creed or background

➔ Have little to no access or exposure to computer science education in school

➔ Are Free and Reduced Lunch eligible

➔ Identify as female regardless of gender assignment at birth or legal recognition

OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

We believe that ALL girls are creative and able to make a positive impact on the world through computer science.

SISTERHOOD & COLLABORATION

IMPACTLearning computational thinking and computer science cultivates girls’ interests and prepares them for long-term success in computer science.

Positive and supportive environments both enable & sustain the learning process and longevity in computer science.

Interest-based learning enables and empowers students to make an impact in their communities.

SUMMER IMMERSION PROGRAM

Our free 7-week summer programs are designed for current 10th -11th grade girls (rising juniors and seniors) to learn coding, get exposure to top companies, and become a part of our sisterhood.

What: June 17 - August 2, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm• Program hosted at partner sites: AT&T, WalMart Tech Incubator• Learn introduction to coding, produce a project in seven weeks, visit tech companies and

learn from guest speakers• 20 high school students per program

Who: Current 10th or 11th grade girls. No need for prior CS experience to apply! Students who have taken AP CS or similar course are not eligible.

Help Us Spread the WordWe are no longer looking for groups to facilitate activities. We are excited to receive more students registrations

• Registration is free and still open through our website.

• Easy to register 1 or 1,000 students. One chaperone can register a full group of students.
