will get calls from both the jobs (1/6 probability). What is the probability that he will get offer from first job?

• P(A) * P(B) = 1/6; (1-P(A)) * (1-P(B) = 1/3

• =412/1000 approx. or 2/5 approx.


What is the probability that I shall get a total of 12 when I throw dice

three times?

• There are total 6*6*6 = 216 possibilities• Out of these, we have many possibilities with

total of 12. if we start with 6, we have 5 possibilities. If we start with 5, we have 6 possibilities. If we start with 4, we have 5 possibilities. If we start with 3, we have 4 possibilities, if we start with 2, we have 3 possibilities and if we start with 1, we have 2 possibilities. Thus there are total 25 possibilities. Answer = 25/216
