● Quality Mentoring Assessment Path

A mentoring program self-assessment tool designed to help youth mentoring programs improve current processes by evaluating program quality based on the Elements of Effective Practice ™ standards (MENTOR/ National Mentoring Partnership), and current research on evidence-based practice in the field of mentoring, as well as insight from mentoring program practitioners around our state.

These elements are the nationally recognized standards of practice for youth mentoring. Complementary training and capacity building sessions based on this model are offered by MPM to support use of best practices, and ongoing technical assistance for QMAP participants will be provided.

Self-assessment provides an opportunity to reflect on program practices and day-to-day implementation.

Assessment with MPM staff provides feedback on program operations.

QMAP Pilot ProjectsQMAP Pilot Projects

MPM is conducting two QMAP pilot projects, starting in February, 2010. MPM will support and guide 20 mentoring programs through the QMAP process during each pilot phase.

We invite your program to be one of the first youth mentoring programs to participate in this process to test the tool, evaluate your program quality, and help create benchmarks.

● Participating program must be a Minnesota program

● Participating program must be in operation for at least two years

● Participating program must be actively working with at least 20 matches

● Participating program must be a youth-to-adult mentoring program

QMAP Pilot Project FAQsQMAP Pilot Project FAQs How long will I get to complete the

QMAP tool? ● We will ask you to complete the

assessment within 6 weeks.

Within an organization, who should conduct the assessment? ● The person who has the most knowledge

about your program processes, policies and history; however, for many programs, you may have to involve other program staff as well [to obtain more information].

What do I need to get started? ● You will need a computer with high-speed

internet access, your program manual or operational guide, and time.

Who can see my program’s quality assessment? ● Only MPM staff and our external project

evaluation consultants will have access to your results.

Will I receive help with the tool? ● MPM staff will provide technical support

while your program is involved in the pilot, and will provide an individual review of your completed assessment.

1. Go to MPM’s website and click Program Login2. Log in and click “Update Profile”3. If you have not been assigned login

information, click on the Program Registration Form.

Registering also gets you access to additional resources, such as funding announcements and inclusion in MPM’s public referral system. *Nudge, nudge* - Don’t forget January is National Mentoring Month!
