Speaker: Liam Cronin Abstract: Microsoft recognizes that customers are running more and more mixed IT environments (Microsoft and Open Source) to get the best out of each available technology. We are listening to our customers and we are making it easier and less costly for customers to develop and manage great solutions in Mixed IT environments. We recognize that the world has changed, we have learned from the past and Microsoft has changed as a company and is becoming more open by - Playing well with others (Standards, Open Source) - Listening to customers (Microsoft and other technologies) - Being Open in the cloud (Language, Data Infrastructure Some facts around Microsoft and Open Source: - More than 350,000 Open Source applications run on Microsoft platforms; that is 82% of Open Source applications on public source forges - Microsoft contributed code to the Linux kernel - Microsoft is supporting our customers to virtualize diverse data centers - Microsoft is taking significant actions to ensure openness in the Cloud – a hot topic for the industry and certainly for Microsoft. A great example of this is SugarCRM, a 100% Open Source company which has chosen to offer its online services on Microsoft’s Azure platform.
