H HEAD COACHES HJASON GARRETT (73-58, 8th Year)

Jason Garrett was named the eighth head coach in Dallas Cow-boys history on January 5, 2011. Garrett became the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team’s head coach. As a backup quar-terback during his playing career in Dallas, he started nine-of-23 games played and was a member of teams that won six division titles and three Super Bowl championships. Garrett was elevated to the Cowboys top job after taking over as the team’s interim head coach midway through 2010. He guided the club to a 5-3 mark to finish the season after the team started 1-7. He led Dallas to an 8-8 record, narrowly missing the playoffs and an NFC East Division title in each his first three full seasons as head coach (2011-13). Garrett guided the 2014 squad to an NFL-best tying 12-4 record, the club’s 22nd Division title - 18th NFC East title - 31st postseason appearance and 34th playoff win. His team fought through adversity in 2015, especially on the injury front where they endured injuries to Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick amongst others, while slipping to 4-12 on the season. The team bounced back under Garrett in 2016, completing the club’s largest one-sea-son turnaround in franchise history with a nine-game difference, finishing with a 13-3 record in 2016. The record included beginning the season 0-1 and going on to win 11 straight games - the longest single-season win streak in team history. Garrett’s Cowboys won their second division cham-pionship with him at the helm, while earning the NFC’s top overall seed and hosting an NFC Divisional Playoff Game for the first time since 2007. He was named AP Coach of the Year for his team’s 2016 accomplishments. The 2017 Cowboys finished 9-7, just missing the playoffs, but their record gave them back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2008-09. From 2007-13, when Garrett was brought on board as the Cowboys offensive coordinator, the unit finished among the NFL’s top-10 in total offense in five of his seven years at the helm: 2013 (10th), 2012 (6th), 2010 (10th), 2009 (2nd) and 2007 (2nd). The team has set single-season records in a handful of categories, including topping 6,000 net yards for the first four times in franchise history (2009- 6,390; 2011 - 6,008; 2014 - 6,138 and 2016 - 6,027). Since his arrival in 2007, not only has the team set single-season records in numerous offensive categories, but the club’s cumulative numbers for gross passing yards (39,993) and total points (3,919) represent the best totals over a 10-year span in the history of the organization while the club’s 58,567 total net yards are second.

SEAN PAYTON (122-77, 12th Year) Since he was hired as head coach of the New Orleans Saints in 2006, Sean Payton has established himself as one of the most successful coaches in the NFL. Payton has led the Saints to six playoff berths, four NFC South division titles, and in 2009, captured the franchise’s first World Championship with a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. Payton has a 122-77 overall record (.613), including a 7-5 postsea-son mark (.583) after the franchise had won only one playoff game prior to his arrival. Payton holds the club’s top win total and winning percentage for a head coach. The 2017 Saints produced an 11-5 regular season record produc-ing their first playoff berth since 2013. In running back Alvin Kamara and cornerback Marshon Lattimore, the 2017 Saints were the first team to have both the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year since 1967. In 2009 en route to the Super Bowl XLIV title, Payton guided the Saints to the team’s second NFC South title in four seasons with a 13-3 record. Along the way, the Saints set a franchise-record for most regular season wins in (13). Their 16 overall victories were the most in the club’s history. The Saints also posted the franchise’s longest winning streak and best start when they won their first 13 contests. Payton once again was named as the top head coach in the NFL by numerous media outlets and recognized football chapters. Payton scrapped the traditional timetable for rebuilding a club in 2006. In his opening season as a head coach, the Saints jumped out to a 3-0 record - a first in team history, equaling the team’s win total from the previous year - and clinched the NFC South title before the regular season finale. Payton was hired as the 14th head coach in Saints history on Jan. 18, 2006 after serving as a member of the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff from 2003-05 under 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Bill Parcells. Payton went to Dallas following four years with the New York Giants (1999-2002), the last three as offensive coordinator after spending his first season as quarterbacks coach. Since his first year as a play-caller in 2000, every passer under Pay-ton’s guidance has thrown for over 3,000 yards.
