What is the TIP?

• Identifies how all federal and state transportation money is anticipated to be spent in Polk County.

• The TPO is required by federal legislation to prepare and adopt a TIP annually.

What’s in the TIP?• Projects = highway, public transit, rail,

aviation, bicycle, pedestrian, safety, and freight-related projects.

• Projects come from the FDOT Five-Year Work Program, including projects that were funded in the previous federal fiscal year (due to fiscal year overlap), and transportation projects in local government Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).

Why Amend the TIP?

• Projects must be listed in the TIP accurately in order to receive federal funding:

• Correct project phasing• Funding (source, year, and amount)• Project description and limits

• Must be consistent with the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

• Amending into current TIP FY 2011/12-2015/16 to ensure eligibility for Federal Funding

Total Project cost: $1,379,944

Recommendation

The Citizens’ and Technical Advisory Committees approved this draft amendments during their most recent respective meetings.

TPO staff recommends the Board approve the amendments to the FY 2011/12-2015/16

TIP as presented.

Roll Forward Report

The Roll Forward report includes federal and state projects programmed in FY 2011/12 that were not completed.

FDOT has requested the TPO include these projects in the FY 2012/13-2016/17 TIP to ensure eligibility for federal and state funding is maintained.
