Electrical hazards are invisible but deadly, causing fires and electrical shock. These hazards are easily preventable if you use an NICEIC-registered contractor to install, inspect and maintain electrical installations

Page 7: PTC Systems Company Profile

Company Profile Page 7

Always use an NICEIC-registered contractor to ensure that your electrics are installed and maintained safely and correctly.

Government figures estimate that there are around 10 fatal and 2,000 non-fatal electric shock accidents in the home each year, and around 19 fatal and 880 non-fatal shock accidents a year in the workplace. Additionally, there are about 12,500 electrical fires in homes across the UK each year. Although many incidents are caused by faulty appliances rather than the electrical installation itself, a properly installed and well-maintained installation could save lives. Cables, switches, socket-outlets and other equipment deteriorate with prolonged use, so they all need to be checked and necessary replacements or repairs made in good time. Whilst it is relatively easy to make an electrical circuit work – it is far more challenging to make the circuit work safely. To avoid the dangers that electricity can present to you and others it is essential that electrical work is carried out only by those with the correct knowledge, skill and experience in the type of electrical work to be undertaken Electrical Installation PTC Systems is certified with the NIC EIC and is able to provide suitably qualified and professional electricians for electrical installations ensuring compliance with building regulations and BS7671. We can project manage, design and install electrical installations that meet the requirements of the regulations. Designers/estimators and project managers work closely with clients from the tender stage through design installation and final commissioning, thereby ensuring smooth and efficient project implementation. Electrical Repair and Maintenance PTC Systems is certified with the NICEIC and is able to provide suitably qualified and professional electricians to carry out electrical fault diagnosis and repair for electrical installations ensuring compliance with building regulations and BS7671. Regular health and safety inspections in offices and places of work are likely to find lighting and power outlet wear and tear. The Company can offer reactive or proactive maintenance services to assist in maintaining and repairing these electrical services. Periodic Inspection & Testing PTC Systems is certified with the NICEIC to undertake periodic inspection and testing. All non-domestic electrical installations should be subject to a regular program of testing and inspection to comply with current legislation. You must ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury or death through electrical failure. PAT Testing PTC Systems can undertake full periodic inspections, testing and the provision of reports, for Health & Safety Regulations, Directives and PAT testing. All projects undergo a full completion test, inspection and are certified by fully qualified test engineers who are all trained to the highest level and conversant with BS7671 2008. As an NICEIC registered contractor PTC Systems is able to offer a full range of testing and Certification Services protecting businesses and consumers from the dangers of unsafe and unsound electrical installations.

Wireless

Wireless Solutions PTC Systems has been designing and installing wireless networks for over 10 years. It has provided this technology as enhancements to network cabling installations or as stand alone wireless networks, across the entire spectrum of environments, from hospitals and schools through to Data Centers and Dealing Rooms.

During this time the experience and knowledge gained in this field has developed exponentially as the Company has grown to the stage where it now designs, provides and installs a full range of Wireless LANs, radio, microwave, laser and infrared networks, within single buildings and campus/enterprise environments.

To supplement the design and installation service for wireless technology, the Company also offers wireless maintenance and support contracts. Whether the requirement is for hot or warm standby replacement wireless devices or next day on site support, PTC Systems can help you.

PTC Systems continues to look at innovations within the ever changing wireless field and after much research and training, now offers two highly scalable, managed wireless solutions in addition to the existing range of traditional unmanaged solutions. These are namely, U4EA for the small to medium sized business (SMB) and Trapeze for the medium to large business.

PTC Systems also offer a comprehensive range of solutions to provide building to building connectivity from under 100 metres up to 30 Kilometres. This service includes viability survey, application for licences (where required), installation and maintenance. Traditional Unmanaged Wireless Solutions (Conventional “Fat” Access Points) Fat access points are the type of wireless access points you may have in the home; however, in an office or school for example, the coverage has to be thorough so that there are no “dead” areas and the capacity has to be such that many people can connect simultaneously without problems. This is only possible with the correct planning, installation and configuration of enterprise grade access points, something that PTC Systems excels at.

Managed Wireless Solutions (“Thin” Access Points) In a managed solution, all the access points are connected to a controller. The access points are known as “thin” because it is the controller that contains all the configuration information not the access points. In addition, the settings for every access point on a managed LAN can be set and changed via just one setting on the controller; The change would have to be made on each and every access point on an unmanaged system. Managed solutions will also alert the user if an access point is down and even boost the signal from adjacent access points to provide cover until the damaged access point is repaired or replaced. U4EA - (pronounced euphoria) – Supports up to 25 Access Points/250 Users per controller – This system provides an extremely fast and cost effective voice and data solution for the SMB. Access Points are connected, configured and managed via a single controller. Access points can be added/removed/replaced as required with no down time. The system is easy to manage, is 802.11n ready and provides ultimate security, voice capability and seamless roaming for Wi-Fi capable phones. It is optimized for environments that may have limited in-house IT or wireless expertise.

Page 10: PTC Systems Company Profile

Company Profile Page 10

TRAPEZE This system has all the qualities of U4EA but can support up to 2048 Access Points/30,000 user sessions (more if required) – Trapeze Networks provides all the components required to deploy a truly non-stop wireless network for any size enterprise. The solution includes a range of different capacity controllers and a variety of different access points to suit indoor and outdoor environments plus the award winning RingMaster wireless management suite – a piece of software which is used to plan, configure and manage the entire setup. PTC Systems chose to become a Trapeze Business Partner because the Trapeze system has proven to be one of the fastest, most innovative, reliable and intelligent systems on the market today. The Company is a Trapeze Gold Partner

Trapeze also has some attractive “bolt-ons”. Two in particular:

1) SmartPass - The industry’s safest and most scalable, centrally-managed guest access software.

2) Asset Tracking through the LA-200e – This device integrates with the Trapeze setup in order to locate anything you wish within range of your wireless network.

Building To Building Wireless Connectivity (from under 100 m up to 30 Km) It is well known that wireless technology can be used to provide connectivity within an office but there are also many wireless solutions to connect two or more sites at any distance up to 30Km! Solutions include radio with external antennae for connections over shorter distances, laser to provide very fast connections over short distances and microwave to provide connections over long distances. In cases where microwave links are required, PTC Systems can check site to site visibility for you (i.e. check that there are no hills or obstructions between locations) and can make your application for the appropriate licenses and once approved PTC Systems can install, test and maintain the link for you. For all your wireless requirements PTC Systems will undertake a site visit, with one of its wireless surveyors. At that time, your exact requirements and the various options available to you can be discussed.

IBM/ISS IBM Proventia Internet Security Systems – ISS As an accredited IBM Business Partner, PTC Systems is pleased to offer the complete range of IBM’s industry leading Proventia Internet Security Systems (ISS). IBM ISS is designed to protect your entire IT infrastructure, from the network gateway to the desktop, against all types of internet threats - including worms, viruses, hackers, spam, unwanted web sites, etc. This award winning range of Internet Security solutions is not only surprisingly cost effective, but is also remarkably scalable, innovative and easy to use - ideal for companies of any size, regardless of the amount of in-house IT expertise. What makes IBM ISS so effective and superior to the competition is the fact that it is pre-emptive - “ahead of the threat”! IBM owns the world’s premier security research and development team who study the latest threat trends constantly; they analyze a huge range of commonly used software for vulnerabilities known as backdoors (which internet threats use to infect networks). Immediately that they discover any backdoor or threat of any kind, they upload a fix (known as a Virtual Patch) directly to your Proventia box so that your network is protected against unknown infections that do not even exist yet! In the vast majority of cases, one of IBM’s best selling Multi-Function Security devices will be suitable for your network and will provide you with all of the following network protection in one Proventia box: • Firewall & Intrusion Prevention System – Blocks over 1600 Known and Unknown Vulnerabilities • Anti Virus – Blocks over 340,000 Known and Unknown Viruses • Anti Spam & Anti Phishing – Blocks Over 95% of Spam with Only 1 in 100,000 False Positives • Virtual Private Network (VPN) – Allows Secure Connection Between Offices via the Internet • Web Content Filtering – Largest URL Filter in the World Containing over 9 Billion Web Objects (allows you to

block your staff from accessing certain web sites by category. eg. social networking, auction sites, illegal sites, etc.)

What’s more, there is absolutely no software to load and the Proventia boxes automatically update themselves!

IBM ISS provides Enterprise Security with low cost of ownership. If you were to calculate the cost of installing all the component pieces of software individually on your network, not only would you need to calculate the cost of each piece of software, but also the cost of the time to install, maintain and upgrade the software not to mention the amount of wasted downtime in doing so.

Extra layers of protection are available for networks carrying more sensitive or mission critical data. Desktop computers can be protected individually with Proventia Endpoint Secure Control (ESC) and servers can be protected with Proventia Server. Both pieces of software utilise Proventia pre-emptive technology. For the larger, more complex networks, the Proventia system can be purchased in separate components. If you do have a number of Proventia devices on your network, you can manage all of them through the installation of Proventia SiteProtector. What’s more, if you have a number of remote offices, each with their own Proventia Multi-Function Security (MFS) device, you can use the VPN function on the MFS devices to manage them all from your office with the SiteProtector installation. SiteProtector also includes an integrated, customisable reporting facility.

Infrastructure Audits PTC Systems has developed technical infrastructure auditing models offering complete analysis for networks and associated structured cabling throughout all levels of the OSI model. With the present economic climate new network/infrastructure upgrades may not always be the most financially viable option. PTC Systems can offer an infrastructure and network audit for a fraction of the cost of a traditional network upgrade or re-cabling project. This can be extremely useful in assisting customers by efficiently pinpointing where expenditure can be most effectively allocated when upgrading networks and associated physical infrastructure during the tough economic times ahead. We offer three levels of audit: The Level 1 audit includes a complete structured cabling and network infrastructure check starting at the physical layer of the OSI model. The cabling system manufacturer, type and specification will be identified and the location of communication cabinets, patch panels and back bone link cabling identified. Existing space capacity within the structured cabling system will be tested to determine the status of the current situation. A network schematic, cabinet layout diagrams and a full report and test results on the findings will be provided upon completion, including any recommendations. A network analyzer will be utilised to determine whether any issues or potential issues exist on the network. The data throughput speeds on the active switches will be checked and documented. The level 2 audit provides a high end virtualisation of server infrastructure performance enabling unprecedented levels of workload isolation and granular resource control for all of the customer’s system computing resources. A software tool will be installed on the customer’s network for 30 days, to monitor and report the customer’s server performances. Upon completion a full report will be provided detailing and listing the consolidation of idle system resources, increased operational efficiency, proposed improvements in server management and reductions in physical space, cooling and power requirements. The Level 3 audit is a fully comprehensive network and infrastructure audit encompassing all elements of level 1 and level 2. PTC Systems has the capability to undertake all client audit requirements from Level 1 through to Level 3 providing fully documented reports to enable maximisation of existing client networks and associated infrastructure.
