Make Good Soap fundraising an easy choice

2016 was a special year for Thorndon Primary’s senior school – it was the 40th anniversary of the year eight leavers’ event and a big celebration was in order. So when teachers set about organising a fully catered dinner for the students at Parliament House, they chose ecostore’s Good Soap for a Good Cause to fundraise. Having used Good Soap to fund their 2015 Stage Challenge, they say it was a logical choice for a larger project. It turned out to be a great choice: $2200 was raised in just three weeks, and the soaps sold so quickly that more had to be ordered just two days into the fundraising drive. “People really enjoyed the fact that it was not chocolate – they were happy to pay $2.50 per soap for a fundraiser, in fact it was easy to get $10 from people – many bought 4 soaps at a time,” says the school’s year seven and eight team leader Mae Pullar, who organised the fundraising. The Good Soap fundraising was also really easy to run, she says, with online ordering and soaps nicely boxed in carry cases. The kids also enjoyed using the seller’s fl yer.

“It helped them with their selling,” says Mae. “They said the soaps were easy to sell to people and many sold them at their parent’s work. It was not a hard sell for people.” “People really enjoyed the fact that it was not chocolate – they were happy to pay $2.50 per soap for a fundraiser.”

(Date)

Dear (member/volunteer/parent),

As part of our plan to raise funds for (enter cause here), we’re trying something a little different with a fantastic ecostore ‘Good Soap’ Fundraiser.

Selling for $2.50 each, the 80g ecostore soaps are excellent value and $1 from each soap will go to (cause).

If you haven’t tried ecostore soaps before, they’re beautiful to use, free of nasty chemicals and have a lovely fragrance.

You’ll be able to collect your Good Soap carry cases from (pick up location) on (pick up date and time). Each case contains 24 ecostore soaps to sell.

We suggest you sell to family members, work mates, friends and neighbours. For safety reasons we don’t recommend involving children in selling, or if they are involved, please make sure they have adult supervision, especially if selling door to door.

Our fundraising drive closes on (date). Please make sure you mark your calendar and return the money collected to (name of collector) by then. You’ll find that the time until the closing date passes really quickly so I urge you to sell the box quickly. If you’re experiencing difficulties please check back with me as early as possible as others may be looking for more soap to sell.

If you’re unable to take part in the fundraising drive, please let me know no later than (date).

Fundraising activities like this make an important contribution towards improving (cause) for the benefit of (members/children). We’re looking forward to a successful fundraising drive.
