“Young people are the future of this country. Cultivating their creative

energies, passion and sense of engagement is fundamental to the

success of their own lives and to the economic and cultural vitality of

our communities”

An extract from Ken Robinson's support statement for ENYAN's 2011 national

campaign

"Working with Miltos was utterly amazing in terms of inspiring my grade

8 students to look at and understand Shakespeare in an entirely new

light. It was particularly motivating for our male students, who previously

found it hard to see the relevance"

Sarah Handley

and engaging mechanisms to address, explore, provide for, or alleviate

those needs

relationships with local, national, or international arts communities and

organizations

learning through demonstrable creative engagement and creative

thinking

Page 11: PSC Meeting: Traidhos Arts Presentation

ENHANCE

• Builds on existing activity within PTIS THREE-GENERATION via

utilizing the arts in a new, innovative, or valuable way

• Uses the arts to link classroom activity and the curriculum with the

surrounding, campus environment

• Uses the arts to develop cross-curricular and interdepartmental

working, or the creative delivery of traditional ’academic’ subjects

• Seeks to obtain external funding for either short term, or long-term,

sustainable creative projects

AN OVERVIEW OF THE LAST TWENTY MONTHS

Being able to meet real artists and ask them about their work, has

given me insight and understanding that simply isn't available on the

internet. Through working with artists in the 3rd space project, I was

able to learn things about composition and presentation that influenced

my approach to my final DP Exhibition.

Sabrina Nur Magnusson, Grade12

" To have someone like Paula DiPerna work with our students was

hugely exciting for them. She brought the real world into their

classroom and made her experiences relevant and exciting to their

aspirations to make a difference in the world."

Carolyn Martin Hughes, Head of English

"Collaborations with visiting artists have encouraged classroom

teachers to make connections with the arts that would not have taken

place otherwise. Staff

and students have engaged with diverse creative experiences that

have had a direct and positive influence on their learning"
