Standing by itself, the word radiates

    quiet confidence. It exudes

    strength. Humility is self-confidence

    without arrogance. Humility is

    modesty and restraint without the

    destructive effects of out-sied

hubris. Humility is courage. It is

    the willingness to admit mista!es

and see! out guidance. Humility is

    self-res"ect without excessive self-

"romotion. Humility is the trium"h of com"etence over bravado. Humility is not wea! or mee!. It

does not mean shy or insecure. It is not being timid, reserved, reticent, or diffident. Humility is

authenticity. Humility is self-awareness. It is recogniing one#s strengths and limitations. It is the

ability to say, I don#t !now. It is quite sim"ly the willingness to "ut others first.

It is im"ortant so that there will be:

a reduction of anxiety, fear and de"ression, in conflict, anger and aggression.

an increase in ha""iness and well-being, in o"timism.

an im"rovement in friendshi" and intimate relationshi"s, o"enness for new ex"eriences and

new learning, greater em"athy, com"assion and altruism and higher $ob satisfaction and morale

    at wor!.

    %o "ractice humility, we&

shouldn#t thin! you#re too good for

    be teachable and don#t com"are

    yourself to others

It means than!fulness, counting your blessings, noticing sim"le "leasures, and ac!nowledging

everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle,

and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you#ve been given. It shifts your focus fromwhat your life lac!s to the abundance that is already "resent. In addition, behavioral and

"sychological research has shown the sur"rising life im"rovements that can stem from the

"ractice of gratitude. 'iving than!s ma!es "eo"le ha""ier and more resilient, it strengthens

relationshi"s, it im"roves health, and it reduces stress. (f all the universal themes that have

been transmitted through "erennial wisdom, the ex"ression of gratitude continues to be the glue

that consistently holds society and relationshi"s together) its o""osite * ingratitude * contributes

to societal dissolution and se"aration. %he ex"ression of gratitude is essential to human!ind#s

sustainability and survival. Its stabiliing and healing effects, which have been researched frommulti"le stand"oints+cultural, "sychological, "hysical, s"iritual, even financial+have made it

abundantly clear that the benefits of living a grateful life are irrefutable.

    It is im"ortant because&

it allows us to celebrate the "resent, bloc!s toxic, negative emotions, is more stress

resistant and has a higher sense of self-worth.

    e can "ractice gratitude by&

    If you identify something or

    someone with a negative

trait, switch it in your mind

    to a "ositive trait.

Honesty is being truthful and sincere. It is im"ortant because it builds trust. hen "eo"le are

honest, they can be relied on not to lie, cheat or steal. eing honest means that you acce"t

yourself as you are. hen you are o"en and trustworthy, others can believe in you. Honesty is

not mere o"timism. %he honest "erson is not one who tells the truth at all moments because

they are too stu"id or thin! that truth will magically ma!e everything easy. /or is it mere legalism

or fear of "unishment that ma!es someone truly honest. 0ather, the honest "erson is in love

    with the truth.

It is im"ortant to be honest because&

we build strength of character that will allow us to be of great service to 'od and to others.

If you#re never honest with anyone then nobody will ever trust you. eing honest is not only

for others, but with yourself is

    always a good thing.

    %o show honesty, we

    should&

    guilty.

    Sto" com"aring yourself to others.

4cce"t the consequence and decide to face

    them.

    Sincerity is defined as& sim"licity, "urity, na5vet6,

veracity, a way to ex"ress oneself free of "retense. It

is the absence of "retence, deceit, or hy"ocrisy. 4

sincere "erson is the one that ex"resses himself without deceitfulness, in a truthful and genuine

way, that does not "retend. It means without deceit or reservation, that one truly believes in the

truth and im"ortance of what one is saying. %he o""osite of this quality is to "retend something

that one really does not feel, for exam"le, to say something to "lease others when we really do

not feel it. Sincere is about a genuine agenda, where one#s actions matches ones words and

even motives or intentions. Sincere is honesty from the heart. In being sincere, a "erson should

assess his or her dee"est, true feelings about every as"ect of the situation in question, and

res"ond to the questioner in a com"lete, calm, direct, earnest way.

    It is im"ortant because&

7eo"le who are "erceived as being sincere in their manner and words generally have an

easier time getting others to believe in them and to trust ideas or "lans they want to

    im"lement.

    %o "ractice sincerity, we should&

4ct the same way alone as you do

when in the "resence of others.

your heart) dont see! a reward or

do things to acquire things from

    2nderstand that sincerity comes

    from the heart.

8ont do it or say it, unless you

    believe it from your heart.

    0ealie that sincerity can ex"ose

    you.

(bedience is the moral virtue that

inclines the will to com"ly with the

will of another who has the right to

command. It is a virtue that

teaches us to be humble. %he

s"irit of obedience hel"s us to

shed our ego and our "ride. %he

duty of obedience requires all to

give due honor to authority and to

treat those who are charged to

    exercise it with res"ect, and,

insofar as it is deserved, with

    gratitude and good-will.

    It is im"ortant&

so that we can live with "ureness in ourselves.

means a res"ectful, submissive attitude of mind resulting in affection and esteem for the "erson to

which it is directed. Hence children reverence their "arents, wives reverence their husbands,

sub$ects reverence their sovereign, and all must reverence 'od. 0everence is a very im"ortant

character regarding how we relate to both 'od and others. 0everence has more of the meaning of

    worshi", and "ertains to 'od.

    It is im"ortant because&
