    11.. JJAAMMIIAAMMIILLLLIIAAIISSLLAAMMIIAA

    Jamia was established in 1920 by a group of nationalist Muslim intelligentsia like MaulanaMohammed Ali Jauhar, Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmoodul Hasan, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shri A.M.Khawaja, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Dr. Zakir Hussain and other such luminaries, at Aligarh (Uttar

    Pradesh). It was in the wake of the anti-colonial activism signified by the Khilafat and the pro-independence aspirations symbolized by the non-cooperation movement of the Indian NationalCongress which helped to harness creative energies and the subsequent making of Jamia MilliaIslamia. Its campus shifted from Aligarh to Delhi in 1925 and the foundation stone of the presentcampus was laid on 1st March 1930. Since then, the university has expanded and become known as apremier educational institution of the country. Recognizing its contributions in the field of teaching,research and extension work, the University Grants Commission (UGC) bestowed the deemeduniversity status to it in 1962. The Jamia was made a Central University by an Act of Parliament in1988 vide Jamia Millia Islamia Act 1988 (No.59 of 1988). The Degrees/Diplomas/ Certificatesoffered by Jamia Millia Islamia, are recognized by all the members of the Association of IndianUniversities(AIU) and are at par with Degrees/Diplomas and Certificates of all Indian Universities,Deemed Universities and institutions. Subsequently, the National Commission for MinorityEducational Institutions on 22 February 2011 granted Minority Institution status to Jamia MilliaIslamia under Article 30(1) of the constitution read with Section 2(G) of the National Commission forMinorities Institutions Act.

    Jamia reflects the original concern of its founders, which was to encourage the indigenous roots ofeducation. It has cherished and has continued to encourage a critical appreciation of the countryshistory and culture and also the history of Islam with its rich cultural and intellectual traditions. Itseeks to foster a national and cosmopolitan perspective in its academic programmes as well as inco-curricular activities.

    From its inception, the Jamia had catered to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and its course

    curriculum was suited to meet the needs of such students. The medium of instruction and learning hasbeen Urdu, Hindi and English. The university was an active participant in spreading Gandhijis ideaof nai talim Vocational training and school education became one of the cornerstones of Jamiaeducation and models for innovative teaching.

    Today, Jamia Millia Islamia is an ensemble of a multi layered educational system which covers allaspects of schooling, under-graduate and post-graduate education. The university recognizes thatteaching and research are complementary activities that can advance its long-term interest. It hasNatural Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Education, Humanities & Languages,Architecture & Ekistics, Fine Arts, Law and Dentistry Faculties. Also, it has a well known AJK MassCommunication Research Centre. Jamia Millia Islamia has over thirty research centres that havegiven an edge to Jamia in terms of critical research in various areas. Some of these are Centre for

    Peace and Conflict Resolution; Academy of International Studies; Centre for Culture, Media andGovernance; Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies; Centre for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology;FTK Centre for Information Technology; Centre for Management Studies; Dr. K.R.     2.. CCEENNTTRREEFFOORRDDIISSTTAANNCCEEAANNDDOOPPEENNLLEEAARRNNIINNGG((CCDDOOLL))

    The Centre for Distance & Open Learning was established in Jamia Millia Islamia with the assistanceof Distance Education Council in September 2002. Major objective of the Centre is to provideopportunities for higher education to those who are not able to draw benefits from formal system of

    education. The Open Learning System allows a learner to determine his /her pace of learning andprovides education at the doorstep of the learner. The mode of transaction is through self-learningprint material, supplemented by audio and video programmes. It has further scope of studentsaccessing material through internet and various other media. The Centre started functioning in thesession 2003. The Centre for Distance and Open Learning is approved by Ministry of HumanResource Development, Govt of India in 2009 and all the programmes running by the Centre forDistance and Open Learning are recognized by joint committee DEC,AICTE,UGC/ NCTE. TheCentre has established 39 study/programme centres. These centres are located at various places inDelhi, UP, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerela.

    The Centre also runs an Urdu Certificate Course. Its purpose is to teach Urdu by means of differentlanguages (Hindi & English) through distance mode. This certificate programme is offered free of

    cost. But the candidate shall remit Rs. 100/- through Postal Order to meet the Postal Charges for thedispatch of books and correspondence. Candidates from outside India should send an amountequivalent to US$ 20 in case of SAARC nations and US$ 50 in case of countries other than SAARCby bank draft drawn in favour of Jamia Millia Islamia payable at New Delhi. The admission isopen througout the year for the Urdu Certificate Course.

    22..11 IINNSSTTRRUUCCTTIIOONNAALLSSYYSSTTEEMM::The distance education programme delivery system includesthe multi-media approach, i.e., self-learning print material, audio/video components,assignments, counselling sessions, practical work and workshops.

    22..11..11 PPrrooggrraammmmee//SSttuuddyy CCeennttrree:: It is the contact point for the student. All the importantcommunications are sent to the Programme coordinator / Incharge of the programme/study

    centre. A copy of important circulars /notification will be displayed on the notice board of theprogramme /study centre so as to get the latest information about the assignments, submissionof the examination forms, datesheet, list of admitted students and declaration of result etc.

    22..11..22 PPrriinntteeddMMaatteerriiaall::The print materials are in the form of self-instructional materials for boththeory and practical components of the programme. It is supplied to each student in the formof blocks. Normally each block contains 3 5 units, and each programme consists of 2 4blocks of Print Material.

    22..11..33 AAuuddiioo aanndd VViiddeeoo PPrrooggrraammmmeess :: The Audio and Video programmes are supplementary,meant for clarification and enhancement of understanding in various courses of theprogramme. These are used during counselling and workshop sessions at the programmecentres.

    22..11..44 DDiissttrriibbuuttiioonn ooff SSttuuddyy MMaatteerriiaall :: ssttudy material, assignments, schedule of examination,programme guide, details of programmes (theory and practical) shall be provided by theStudy Centres.

    22..11..55 AAssssiiggnnmmeennttss ::Assignments are an integral and compulsory component of the instructionalsystem. There are tutor-marked assignments for each theory programme. The students willhave to work on specified number of assignments per programme. These assignments are tobe submitted at the programme centre in accordance with the submission schedule providedby the Programme Coordinator / Incharge of the respective Centres.

    22..11..66 CCoouunnsseelllliinngg SSeessssiioonnss :: Generally the counselling sessions will be held at the programmecentres during Sundays and long holidays. Within the general schedule of the programme, thecoordinators at the programme centres will decide on the coverage of these sessions. Theprogramme centre coordinator will also provide the counselling schedule. The counsellingsessions will include clarifications required in the print material and other related difficulties

    through active interaction with students. Attending counselling sessions is optional.

    2.1.7 Dissertation / Project / Practicals / Viva:In some programmes students are required to dodissertation / Project / Practical etc. as part of their course work. These activities enable thestudents to have a practical exposure and in field experience. The viva-voce (if any) is held sothat the learner may defend the practical activity that he/she has done during his/herdissertation/project/practicals.

    22..11..88 TTeerrmmEEnnddEExxaammiinnaattiioonn ::The University conducts Term-End-Examination once in a yearand the student is advised to take his/her examination at the end of each academic year. Theexamination will be held either at Programme / Study Centre or any convenient place, asdecided by CDOL.

    22..11..99 MMeeddiiuumm ooff IInnssttrruuccttiioonn // AAssssiiggnnmmeenntt //TTeerrmm--eenndd--EExxaammiinnaattiioonn :: The Medium ofinstruction, assignments and term-end-examinations in most of the programmes (exceptB.Ed., BAG, B.Com, DECCE) running through CDOL is English only. The printed selflearning material, assignment s and term-end-examination papers in these programmes will beavailable in English only. However students can attempt their assignments and term-end-examination papers in Hindi and Urdu also.

    The Medium of instruction, assignments and term-end-examinations in few programmesB.Ed., BAG, B.Com, DECCE is English and Hindi both. The printed self learning material,assignment s and term-end-examination papers in these programmes will be available inEnglish and Hindi both. However students can attempt their assignments and term-end-examination papers in Urdu also.

    22..11..1100 SSMMSSAAlleerrttSSeerrvviiccee::The CDOL has an SMS Alert Service, wherein a student gets connectedwith the Centre by receiving / sending messages. SMS Alert Service has the uniqueness thatthe student gets updates regarding academic activities related to his/her programme.

    33.. GGEENNEERRAALLGGUUIIDDEELLIINNEESS

    (i) Candidates are required to read the prospectus carefully before filling in the Application Form foradmission to the Distance Mode Programmes. The Prospectus provides general information and issubject to the provisions of the Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations and relevant Resolutions of the

    Academic Council / Executive Council of the University.

    (ii) There is no provision of nomination on any seat by any authority of the Jamia and no application/request shall be entertained in this regard.

    (iii) Jamia reserves the right to make any change / modification in the provisions made in this Prospectusand the same shall be duly notified and published. The candidates shall not be informed of any suchchange individually.

    (iv) No candidate shall be entitled to claim admission as a matter of right.(v) Candidates wishing to apply for admission to Distance Mode Programmes of Jamia Millia Islamia may

    also download application forms from our website http://jmi.ac.in.It may be noted that photocopies ofdownloaded application forms are not acceptable. Only original downloaded forms should be submittedalong with the prescribed fee in the form of Demand Draft/ Pay Order in favour of Jamia MilliaIslamia, payable at New Delhi.

    (vi) Admission to any programme of CDOL may be cancelled, at any stage, if any information furnished bythe candidate is found to be incorrect or if a candidate has been wrongly admitted due to any reason.(vii) Candidates are strongly advised to regularly check the University website (http://jmi.ac.in) for

    admission related notices and other information. Few important URLs on the University website mayplease be seen Annexure IV (Page No 49).

    33..11 GGUUIIDDEELLIINNEESSFFOORR AADDMMIISSSSIIOONN

    (i) The eligibility of the candidate for the Programme will be checked at the time of admission. However,it shall be the sole responsibility of the candidate to ensure the eligibility at the time of submission ofapplication form. No claim of any sort in this matter shall be entertained at any stage.

    (ii) List of selected candidates shall be displayed on the Notice Board of the concerned Study Centre and

    CDOL, JMI as well as on the Jamias website.(iii) No intimation to the selected candidates will be given individually by post. The candidates are required

    to adhere to the dates mentioned in the Admission schedule. (see Annexure I page No. 41 )(iv) If a candidate fails to complete the admission formalities by the prescribed date, he/she will

    automatically forfeit his/her right of admission.(v) If a candidate intentionally or otherwise marks multiple categories for his/her candidature or does not

    mark any category, JMI shall consider such candidates as General.(vi) The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination from a board/university/institute

    recognized by JMI. Jamia Millia Islamia recognizes degrees of all central universities, state universities,institutions of national importance and foreign universities, provided that their equivalence has beenestablished by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Besides, the university also recognizescertain qualifications from reputed madarsas, the details of which are given in Annexure V(Pages 47)of the prospectus.

    (vii) Policy on pursuing two or more programmes simultaneously: Two Degree Programmes cannot beallowed to be pursued simultaneously according the guidelines of UGC. However, a student can pursuetwo programmes simultanesouly through distance mode or combination of distance and regular modesfrom the same or different Universities / Instructions in various combinations,. Viz.,(a) One Degree and One Diploma / P.G. Diploma / Certificate(b) One P.G. Diploma and One Diploma / Certificate(c) One Diploma and One Certificate(d) Two P.G. Diplomas(e) Two Diplomas(f) Two Certificates

    Overwriting, cuttings, erasing in the application form and incomplete form may lead torejection of form.

    Application Forms will be accepted during working hours (except lunch hours) on all workingdays. The office of the CDOL, JMI remains closed on Saturday and Sunday besides theholidays recognized by the Jamia Millia Islamia.

    Application Forms must be filled in and duly signed by the applicants. The Application Fee is non-refundable and no correspondence on this subject will be

    University reserves the right to reject the application form(s)/cancel admission on account of any of thefollowing :(i) The application forms with different photographs/ Xerox copies of photograph or the photograph not

    confirming the prescribed specification,(ii) If a candidate submits more than one application form for the same programme,(iii) Any form received by any means, say Registered Post, Speed Post or by Courier Services, after the last

    date, as specified in the Admission Schedule,(iv) Incomplete application form (s),(v) if any information furnished by the candidate at the time of admission is found to be incorrect.(vi) If a candidate fails to submit his/her result/certificate for the qualifying examination(s) or fails to

    complete any of the other admission formalities by the last date of submission of application form asnotified by the CDOL.

    44.. RREESSEERRVVAATTIIOONNOOFFSSEEAATTSS

    44..11 GGeenneerraallGGuuiiddeelliinneess(i) Seats in various programmes shall be reserved or special provisions be made for certain categories of

    candidates, and procedure to be adopted for purpose of admission as per details given below or as maybe decided from time to time by the Majlis-i-Talimi (Academic Council) of Jamia Millia Islamia.

    (ii) Candidates seeking admission under the reserved categories shall be required to fulfill the prescribedeligibility conditions of the Programme.

    (iii) If a reserved category candidate qualifies the Entrance Test for admission under the General category,he/she shall be considered under the General category as well as the claimed reserved category.

    (iii) The relaxation in the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying examination foradmission to a Programme shall be permissible only in one of the categories.

    (v) A candidates can apply for reservation under ONE category only.

    44..22 MMuusslliimmMMiinnoorriittyyVide Judgement dated 22.2.2011 in Case No. 1443 of 2006 (along with connected petitions), the Jamia MilliaIslamia has been declared a Minority Educational Institution under Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of Indiaread with Section 2 (g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act by theCommission. As a consequence thereof, the University shall provide for the following reservations:

    (i) 30% of the total number of seats in each Program shall be earmarked for Muslim applicants.(ii) 10% of the total number of seats in each Program shall be earmarked for Women applicants who are

    Muslims.(iii) 10% of the total number of seats in each Program shall be earmarked for Other Backward Classes

    (OBCs) and Scheduled Tribes who are Muslims, as per the list notified by the Central Government.Note: The reservation for Muslim OBC candidates will only be applicable to the candidates belonging to

    Non-Creamy Layer. All such applicants are required to submit an OBC (Central Government List)certificate from the competent authority, format of which is available onhttp://ncbc.nic.in/backwardclasses/index.html.

    If seats remain vacant in any program from amongst the 10% of the total number of seats earmarked asper Para 8.2 (ii) and (iii) above, such vacant seats shall stand transferred to the category (i) of above,i.e., Muslim applicants.

    44..33 PPeerrssoonnsswwiitthhDDiissaabbiilliittiieess3% seats in all Programs in Jamia Millia Islamia shall be reserved for physically challenged persons in

    Candidates under these categories will be given relaxation to the extent of 5% marks in the qualifyingexamination.

    Unless and otherwise provided, only such candidates shall be considered under this category who are sufferingfrom not less than 40% of disability as certified by a competent medical authority.

    44..44 IInntteerrnnaall((JJaammiiaa))SSttuuddeennttss5% seats in all Undergraduate Degree/Diploma/Certificate Programs shall be filled by internal students of Jamiawho have passed their qualifying examination (X or XII) from the Jamia Schools as regular students, subject tothe condition that such applicants must have been on the rolls of the School (s) for a continuous period of four

    years; Provided that the qualifying condition of four years on the rolls of Jamia School (s), as envisaged in Para8.4 herein above, shall not apply to the students who have secured admissions in the said schools prior to 10-05-2011. Provided further that the candidate claiming Jamia category shall submit a certificate to this effect, alongwith the Application Form, issued by the concerned Jamia School (s).

    Note:Students permitted to appear in various examinations of Jamia as Private Candidates/ Distance mode,shall not be entitled for consideration under the Internal (Jamia) category.

    55 RREESSEERRVVAATTIIOONNAANNDDRREELLAAXXAATTIIOONNUUNNDDEERRSSPPEECCIIAALLPPRROOVVIISSIIOONNSS55..11 KKaasshhmmiirriiMMiiggrraannttss

    (i) Kashmiri migrants are required to apply and go through the entire admission process. Theiradmission will be considered over and above not exceeding 5% of the total seats in the program

    and not exceeding one seat in programs.(iii) The candidates seeking admission under this category will be required to submit a certificate in

    support of their claim of being Kashmiri migrants obtainable from the registered DivisionalCommissioner, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, New Delhi.

    55..22 FFoorreeiiggnnCCaannddiiddaatteessUUnnddeerrGGeenneerraallCCaatteeggoorryy(i) Candidates of foreign origin may apply under General category only apart from applying

    against supernumerary seats (Please see Section 9.2). Admission of such candidates shall besubject to the laid down eligibility conditions of the concerned programme and their position inthe merit list of the entrance test and other components of the entrance test, whereverapplicable. Provided further that the number of such candidates shall not exceed 10% of theregular seats.

    (ii) The process of admission for foreign candidates applying under General category shall be sameas of general category students. However, the program fee shall be as mentioned in section 9.4

    55..33 OOuuttssttaannddiinnggPPllaayyeerrssSeats in various programems shall be reserved or special provisions be made for outstanding players andprocedure shall be adopted for the purpose of admission as per details given below or as may be decided fromtime to time by the Majlis-i-Talimi (Academic Council).(i) The Office of the Director, Physical Education may be contacted for any admission related queries.(ii) At the time of submission of admission form under sports category, a trial slip containing the

    photograph of the player shall be issued which the candidate must bring at the time of the trial.(iii) Relaxation to the extent of 5% of marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned, as the case may be,

    will be given to such candidates.

    (iv) Such candidates shall be considered for admission by the Shaikhul Jamia (Vice-Chancellor) over andabove the seats allotted to each course on the recommendation of the Games & Sports Committee.

    (v) All candidates selected for admission under sports category shall have to give an affidavit on a StampPaper of Rs. 50/- for their conduct/participation in practice/representing the university team on beingselected to do so, before they are admitted.

    (vii) All the original sports certificates shall be kept in the custody of Office of the Games & Sports for atleast one year.

    (viii) Admission under sports category is limited to the following games: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball,Boxing, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Shooting, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Wrestling.

    55..44 NN..CC..CC..CCaaddeettss(i) Relaxation to the extent of 5% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned, as the case may be, will

    be given to N.C.C. cadets having the following N.C.C. Certificates for admission to all programs. A or B Certificate for admission to undergraduate programs. C Certificate for admission to postgraduate Programs.

    (ii) Students admitted on this basis shall have to continue in the N.C.C. for at least one year.(iii) The relaxation of marks shall be permissible only on production of relevant certificate duly verified by

    the N.C.C. Officer of the Jamia.

    55..55..55 NN..SS..SS..VVoolluunntteeeerrssN.S.S. Volunteers, who have attended two 10-days Special Camps and one National Integration Camp orRepublic Day Camp may be provided a relaxation of 2% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned as thecase may be, for admission to all programs. The relaxation of marks shall be permissible on the production ofrelevant certificates duly verified by the N.S.S. Program Coordinator of the Jamia.

    66.. EENNTTRRAANNCCEETTEESSTT(i) All candidates seeking admission in the B.Ed./DPGE/DEE programmes are required to appear in

    the Entrance Test(s) in accordance with the admission schedule given in Annexure -I.(Page 41).

    No information will be sent to individual candidates.(ii) Admission to the B.Ed./DPGE/DEE programmes would be done through a written test. Whereasthe admission to these programmes shall be done through the merit determined on the basis of anEntrance Test, which will be held at various centres in Delhi and outside Delhi centres (only forB.Ed.).

    (iii) Persons accompanying the candidates are not allowed to enter the Examination Centre.(iv) All candidates appearing in the Entrance Test for admission to various programmes shall be

    photographed during the Entrance Test.(v) No application / request from candidates for re-checking / re-evaluation of Answer- scripts of

    Entrance Test shall be entertained.(vi) The absence of a candidate in either of the Entrance Test/Admission will forfeit his/her claim for

    admission.

    (vii) There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the ObjectiveType/Multiple Choice questions part of the Entrance Tests in any programmes of the Centre forDistance & Open Learning. In programmes with provision for negative marking, a candidatemust secure at least 15% marks to qualify the written test.

    66..11 AAddmmiittCCaarrddss(i) Only those candidates who possess a valid Admit Card for Entrance Test shall be permitted to

    take the Entrance Test.(ii) Candidates can collect their admit card for the Entrance Test in person while submitting the

    application form. Those who wish to receive the same by post may send a self-addressed andduly stamped (amount Rs. 25/- ) envelope (22 cm x 30 cm) with the application form. However,the University shall not be responsible for any postal delays or loss during transit.

    (iii) If the admit card is lost or not received in time by the candidate, he/she may contact in personthe office of the Centre for Distance & Open Learning or respective Entrance Test Centre along

    (ii) Entrance Test results shall be subject to clearance from the Proctorial Department of JamiaMillia Islamia.

    (iii) The list of provisionally selected candidates as well as of those on the waiting list, foradmission will be displayed on the notice board of the Centre for Distance & Open Learning,Study / Programme Centre and on the Jamias Website on the dates given in the admissionschedule on Page No. 41 Annexure-I. No intimation to the candidates will be sent by post.

    77..11 RRuulleessRReellaattiinnggTTooAAddmmiissssiioonn(i) Candidates found eligible / qualify for admission should bring their original documents for

    verification at the time of admission. The selected candidates will be considered Provisionally

    Admitted only after the payment of the prescribed fee and verification of documents on or beforethe last date given in the admission schedule. Mere display of name in the list of selected candidatesdoes not entitle any right to any candidate to claim his / her admission.

    (ii) The candidates seeking admission to a programme should ensure that the Demand Draft pertainingto the fee of a programme should be made on or after the date of declaration of the list of selectedcandidates.

    (iii) If a candidate fails to complete the admission formalities by the prescribed date, he/she willautomatically forfeit his/her right of admission.

    Head Office, CDOL, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Admission is liable to be cancelled, if astudent does not have an Identity Card issued.(vi) The admission to all programmes will be granted to only those applicants whose result of the

    qualifying examination is complete in all respect by the last date of admission as per the list inwhich the name of applicant figures. The candidates must produce their result/marks-sheet atthe time of admission.

    (vii) Jamia Millia Islamia recognizes the approved degrees of all central universities, state universities,institutions of national importance and reputed foreign universities, provided that their equivalencehas been established by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Besides, the university alsorecognizes certain qualifications from the reputed madarsas as well, the details of which are givenon Annexure --VPage Nos. 47of the Prospectus.

    (viii) The verification of candidates and their documents shall be done by the Office of the CDOL at the

    time of completion of admission process and in case of any discrepancy; appropriateadministrative/police/criminal action shall be taken against the erring candidate.

    (ix) The Re-verification process of students admitted in various Programmes of the Centre shall be doneat the Head office, Centre for Distance & Open Learning, Jamia Millia Islamia, MaulanaMohammed Ali Jauhar Marg, Jamia Nagar, Okhla, New Delhi. In case of any discrepancy,appropriate police/criminal action shall be taken against the erring students.

    (x) The selected candidates must complete their admission formalities as per the Admission Scheduleprovided in Annexure - I (Page 41)on or before the date notified by the CDOL concerned.

    (xi) If selected for admission, the candidate shall have to produce the following documents in originalas well as self attested copies of the same at the time of completing the admission formalities.

    (xii) The original certificates will be returned after verification. However, if required, CDOL may seekthe documents at any time later.

    Important:It is essential that in both (iv & vi) the above cases the signatory is duly recognized by theDirectorate of Social Welfare Department of the Government of India/State/NCT.

    (xiv) Cousnelling shall commence as per the schedule notified in the Academic Calendar available on theJamia Millia Islamia Website.

    7.3 Identity CardThe admission of a selected candidate will not be complete unless he/she have an identity card issued by theHony. Director, Centre for Distance & Open Learning, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The selected candidateshould produced two-passport size photographs along with the prescribed form for the issue of Identity Card atthe time of verification. In case of loss of Identity card the student has to submit a copy of the FIR and ademand draft of Rs. 200/- in favour of Jamia Millia Islamia payable at New Delhi.

    88 PPRROOGGRRAAMMMMEEFFEEEE

    88..11 RRuulleessrreeggaaddiinnggFFeeeess(i) The programme fee (as shown in Annexure II on Page No. 41 has to be paid at the time of

    admission verification after the display of merit list. No programme fee is to be paid along withthe application form.

    (ii) The programme fee should be paid only through a Demand Draft / Pay Order in favour ofJamia Millia Islamia, payable atNew Delhi.Please write in capital letters your name and theprogramme to which admission is sought at the back of the Demand Draft / Pay Order.

    (iii) If the last date of payment of fees is a holiday, the fee shall be paid on the next working day.(iv) Part- payment is not allowed, except in those programmes which have notified this facility in theprospectus.

    (v) In case of cancellation of admission within 30 days from the date of admission 80% of the totalfees may be refunded. No relaxation in days will be admissible.

    (vi) In case a provisionally admitted student is unable to submit the documentary evidences in supportof the eligibility for the progremme by the last date of submission of that particularprogramme(for JSC No.37), all fee deposited by him/her shall be forfeited.

    (vii) The student who has paid his/her programme fee will be given a roll number, which will also bementioned in the Identity Card. The enrollment number and the roll number thus allotted willcontinue for the maximum period allotted for the programme or until the Programme-work isover, whichever is earlier. The number will change only if one registers afresh for the same

    programme .The enrollment number does not change if one seeks deferment.

    99..22 FFoorreeiiggnnSSttuuddeennttssaannddNNRRIIssUUnnddeerrSSuuppeerrnnuummeerraarryyCCaatteeggoorryyThose Foreign Students and NRIs who fulfil the eligibility criteria of the program of their choice but donot wish to appear for the entrance test and interview may be considered for admission under thiscategory. Admission to such candidates shall be given according to the merit list prepared on the basisof marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination.

    Applicants seeking admission under Supernumerary Category are advised to send their applications on theprescribed form which can be obtained from the Office of the Foreign Students Advisor on payment of Rs.600/- or can be downloaded from the university website.

    Under this category, 15% seats may be made available over and above the regular seats out of which 5% shall

    be earmarked for NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), their spouses, dependent son/daughter inclusive of legallyadopted children. Provided that if sufficient number of applicants are not available either in NRIs or ForeignPassport holder (FPH) category, the vacant seats may be filled with applicants from the other category i.e. FPHto NRIs or vice versa.

    Foreign Passport Holder (FPH) - An applicant shall be considered a Foreigner on satisfying the followingterms and conditions: -(i) Possesses a valid foreign passport.(ii) Possesses a valid visa issued by a competent authority of the Indian Government clarifying the reasons

    (iv) English translations of all transcripts, duly attested, are to be submitted.(v) Candidates applying from their own country should get their transcripts attested by the concerned

    accredited authorized government agency and also duly certified by the Indian Embassy or Consulate.

    (vi) For candidates applying from India, all attestation must be done by the concerned Embassy/HighCommission/Consulate of the relevant country in India.

    (vii) Applications without the attested documents shall be summarily rejected.(viii) Applicants must collect their admission letter personally or send their authorized representatives to

    collect the same from the Office of the Foreign Students Advisor. Intimation about the admission shallalso be sent to the selected candidates through e-mail.

    (ix) On being granted admission, all applicants should produce their Students Visa within one month ofcompletion of admission formalities.

    (x) In case of failure to obtain a visa within the stipulated period, the admission shall stand cancelled. Acopy of this visa is to be submitted in the Office of the Foreign Students Advisor, JMI.

    (xi) The admission of Foreign diplomats wishing to study in Jamia Millia Islamia shall be governed by theprescribed applicable procedures and rules as notified by the Government of India from time to time.

    (xii) All foreign students (old/new) are required to fill a registration form available with the Office of theForeign Students' Advisor (FSA), JMI, within 15 days of joining the course. Bonafide certificates shallnot be issued if this is not complied with.

    (xiii) Upon arrival in India every foreign student must register with the Foreigners Regional RegistrationOfficer (FRRO) within 14 days from the date of first entry into India as per the prescribed applicableprocedure.

    (xiv) The category once filled in the application form shall be final and cannot be changed at any later stage.(xv) Once admitted, all foreign students shall pay the fee prescribed for their admission category throughout
