PROPS

For the front cover, I originally wanted my model to be holding a microphone, however for my final decision I decided to keep a simplistic, sophisticated look throughout my magazine. Therefore, I’m not going to use any props for any of my models

MAKE-UP FRONT COVER

For my front cover, I want my model to wear simple, but glamorous make up. I want her to style her make-up based on Cheryl Cole (a pop singer) – contoured cheeks, neutral lipstick and eye-shadow and eye-liner to darken the eyes slightly. This glamorous but simple look will reflect my pop genre as ‘pop-girls’ often look very glamorous and not too over-done.

CONTENTS PAGEFor my contents page, I will be using two different models. The modelI shall use for my main image (Karla) will have very simplistic make-upas she will be put against a very simple background, wearing casualclothing. This is to keep ‘pop’ looking sophisticated, however still keeping it pretty. The second model will be the same model I am using for my double page, therefore she will have the same make-up on as the double page:

DOUBLE PAGEFor my double page, I am using a blonde model, therefore I would like her to wear a darker lipstick to contrast against her hair and create her make-up as a central part of her look. The eye make-up will be silver/white to brighten them, and I will ask her to contour her cheeks. This again keep the glamorous look that pop portrays.

HAIRFor all of my models, I have asked for them to wear their hair down, as a down-style often looks more formal for a ‘photo-shoot’. I also asked for this as on my front cover, I would like my model to have her hair hanging down her back with the pose that I have chosen. For my double page spread, the pose I have asked my model to create is for her to be pushing her hair up. Therefore, this is the reason I want her hair to be down, and I also would like it to be big and volumised for this pose to create a dramatic effect.

COSTUME FRONT COVER

For my front cover, I have asked the model to wear a black top as black often reflects a sophisticated/glam look.

CONTENTS PAGEFor my main image, I have asked my model to wear simple, casual clothes as she will have a quote next to her about high-street clothes. Therefore, I didn’t want her to be wearing anything too over the top. I wanted her to create a simplistic look.

DOUBLE PAGEFor my double page, I have asked my model to wear clothes with dark, striking colours as I want this model to create a dramatic impact on the reader as she is a ‘new pop-star’. This, along with her big hair and striking make-up should highlight her beauty, glamour and confidence that I want to portray for her character.

MISE-EN-SCENE

For all my pictures on my frontcover, contents page and double page, I want to use a plain white background. This is because on most photo-shoots, a plain background is used to create a professional and simplistic look. As I want my magazine to look professional, this is the background I shall use, and the simplistic look will make my magazine more sophisticated which is what I want to reflect (as my target audience is 15-19 year olds.)
