Proposal The type of magazine that I have chosen to create is a cycling magazine, I have chosen to do this magazine because I can relate to this area the most and this is most applicable to me. This magazine will highlight on cycling tips and the to make the viewer have an idea of what cross- country cycling is like. There will be examples of cross-country destinations to go cycling in and examples of what suitable cross-country bikes consist of and look like. There will be many images that I will be including in my magazine, one of which is pictures of people cycling in cross-country venues. On the front cover there will be a picture of a person going down a cross- country terrain and doing a jump. This will be the subject of focus and therefore will stand out from the content on the rest of the front cover. I will also be including an article upon how to get the most out of cross-country cycling and a question and answer session with a professional biker. Also, on the double page spread I will be using images of different types of bike parts and different tracks. This is to give the reader more information about bikes and areas to bike. The language used will be formal in the magazine. The language will be formal because I will be talking to people who have a hobby in biking and are a quite mature audience, therefore the formal language will be most applicable to them. Furthermore, I will be using a large amount of colour throughout my magazine, both on the front cover and double page spread. The magazine will be quite busy and vibrant, like magazines such as Kerrang.

Proposal

The type of magazine that I have chosen to create is a cycling magazine, I have chosen to do this magazine because I can relate to this area the most and this is most applicable to me. This magazine will highlight on cycling tips and the to make the viewer have an idea of what cross-country cycling is like. There will be examples of cross-country destinations to go cycling in and examples of what suitable cross-country bikes consist of and look like. There will be many images that I will be including in my magazine, one of which is pictures of people cycling in cross-country venues. On the front cover there will be a picture of a person going down a cross-country terrain and doing a jump.

I will be using a format similar to this magazine, as there is a lot of colour, making it vibrant and the subject of focus is the biker, as such as my magazine will have. This is the type of magazine I will be aiming to create, as this is directly applicable to the audience of biking fanatics, which is my chosen audience of my magazine. As there are specialised parts shown on the cover, I will be doing something similar to this.

I will be taking pictures of the cyclist in the country environment, as hey goes through a terrain. This image will be my subject of focus and will be displayed on the front cover. I will also be taking pictures of bike parts and various biking areas. These will be displayed on the front cover, but mainly on the double page spread. The shot of the subject of focus will be taken externally, in the biking area, and the other images I will be taking will be taken in the studio. There will be a combination of these used. Moreover, the background of the front cover will be the environment of where the picture of the cyclist will be taken. The subject of the magazine will be the only person wearing a costume. The subject will be wearing a biking outfit, also a helmet. They will not be posing for the picture, as I want to capture them in their natural habitat/ environment. They will be doing a jump when I will take the shot. The colour of the costume will be complimented by the colour of the magazine. The costume of the person, which is the subject, will not be wearing branded clouting. This is to avoid ethical and legal issues that may arise and permission will be needed to be able to use the costume. The model will be a male cyclist and will not be under 16 years old, therefore not needing parental consent. Furthermore, the model will sign consent to be photographed, so their image can be used in my magazine. Stereotypes will not be used I my magazine, and the only purpose for the subject to be male is because of the fact that the audience is mainly male cycling enthusiasts. This audience will be teenagers and adults, because they have the most interest in bikes.

Shot List

1.) The main shot which will be situated on the cover of my magazine of the biker will take about an hour to produce and take. This is because I will be taking various angles of this shot and various types. This is so that I get the right shot for the front cover. Moreover, I will be taking 10 to 15 minutes to take the photo of the biking area. This is a portrait shot and will not need various angles taken for the shot.

2.) The second shot will be of the biking track; this will be situated in double page spread. This will take 10 to 15 minutes to take and produce. This will be a landscape shot, as I will be getting most of the background into the shot.

3.) The third shot will be of biking gloves. This will be used to show the reader what gloves are best for biking. This will take about 10 to 15 minutes to produce and will be taken in the studio.

4.) The fourth shot will be of the bicycle. The will be a landscape shot so most of the bike can be captured in the shot. This will take about 20 to 30 minutes to produce, as this has to be focused correctly, as this will be one of the main shot on the double page spread.

5.) The fifth image will be the shot of the biking helmet. This will be showing the safety of biking. Furthermore, this will be a portrait shot and will take about 10 to 15 minutes to produce and take.

6.) The sixth shot will be of the dirt trail, this will be a portrait shot and will be an exterior shot. This will take 10 to 15 minutes to produce and take the shot.

7.) The seventh shot will be another biker going past. This will be a landscape shot with most of the background in the shot included. This will take about 20 to 30 minutes to take and produce.

8.) The eight image which will be shot will be of the bicycle tyres, this will also be an exterior shot. This will take about 20 to 30

minutes to produce, as the lighting and the angles have to be right for this shot to look good.

9.) The ninth shot will be the shot of the cycling gear, such as a cycling jacket and shoes. This will be shot in the studio. This will take about 10 to 15 minutes to produce and take.

10.) The tenth shot will be of a breaking system. This will be taken in the studio. This is to show what a good breaking system is compared to a bad one. This will take 10 to 15 minutes to take and produce.

Shooting Schedule

Date of shoot: March 18th 2016

Call time: 11:00 AM

Crew and models required: Simranpal Kandola

Finish time: 15:00 PM

Contingency Plan

As I will be taking the majority of the photos outside rather than in the studio, a number of contingencies could arise. One of which is, the weather. This can be unpredictable, therefore could playa big impact upon my shots taken. To avoid bad weather, I will postpone the day of the shooting to a after time or the next day, where the weather conditions will be better.

Another contingency is that there the crew member will not be able to make it on the day of the shoot. This will cause a delay in my shoot. I will avoid this contingency by preparing and by aware the crew member a period of time before the day fop the shoot. Another solution to this contingency is that I will delay the shoot to the next day.

Another contingency tha6t could arise is that the camera may malfunction and will not work. This will cause me not to be able to do any shooting at all. I will avoid this contingency by taking a back up camera on the day of the shoot. I will also check he camera before hand the day of the shoot to check for any problems.

Recce

This picture shows the studio that I will be using to take the interior pictures for my magazine. I will be using the studio to take pictures of the bike parts and other small pictures I will be including in my magazine. I will be using the studio to do this because there is good lighting and this will help me capture a better image for my magazine. It will also allow the images to stand out and will make them good enough quality so that I am able to alter and edit them.
