The Journey so far…
Working as a Digital School
Lundavra Primary - the vision -
to transform the way Digital technology is
used to support Learning and Teaching
2014 onwards…
•New school build
•Opportunities – Wi-fi, SWAN broadband connection, chance to refresh equipment
• Identified need – to use digital learning more creatively to enhance learning
•Highland ICT in Learning strategy starting to take shape with Chromebook pilot in 2 schools using 1-1 devices
•Chance to implement the strategy in a larger primary…
Where did we start….
Focus on enhancing Teaching and learning exp’s
What can technology add?
What elements make up a ‘good’ lesson?
Curriculum development – Computer Science
Familiarisation/ exploring use
of GAFE
Developing other resources
Review of our e-safety practice
Develop HWB curriculum work
Involving parents and children
Impact and evidence – Pupil engagement
In his CP meeting Finn said “The best thing
about school is having a Chromebook it makes it
so much easier for me to do my work. There are
lots of things I can’t do but having a Chromebook
makes it easier.”
Impact and evidence – Quality of learning
•Shared planning and pupil work indicates the richness of activities that children are involved in creating… tasks that simply aren’t possible without the technology e.g.
– Pupil groups creating a shared, collaborative document to create a script for CPR video
– Creating a training video showing resuscitation
– Publishing this on website and sharing with Health professionals to get feedback
Impact and evidence – attainment
• We are starting to collect hard evidence of raising attainment
• Digital skills – tracked using Highland ICT Passport
• P5-7 mental maths recall and accuracy has massively improved after a term of TT Rockstars…
2016 – Digital Schools audit tool
• Comprehensive audit tool broken down into 5 key areas – Leadership,
Curriculum, Culture, CPD, Infrastructure/Resources
• Reviewing our work so far against best practice
• Collaborative approach with staff and pupils
• Identifies strengths and areas for development in each area
• Gives practical examples/ suggestions for future development
• Linked up with other digital schools through social media, sharing work
