FDT (Field Device Tool) is anopen, standardised interfacespecification that can be used

with any communication protocolfor integrating (field) devices andtheir applications, from any manufacturer, into controlsystems or device managementtools e.g. engineering andasset management tools.

Flexibility: Gives you a unique,standard interface which connectsany automation system to any

device, providing the ability toselect the best device for anapplication, regardless of supplier or communication protocol.Reduces the high development costs which result from thediverse environments in hostsystems and field devices,requiring customised interfacesfor every combination.

Integration in a singleengineering environment tomanage, commission and

configure any field device fromany device manufacturer andconnected to any fieldbuscommunication protocol.Preserves investments by integrating already installed fielddevices. No need to replaceinstalled base. Increasedperformance through seamlessdata exchange between any field device and asset management application.

DTM (Device Type Manager)is a software module, delivered

by the manufacturer together with the device. Its the identity card of the device, whichcan be used with any FDTspecified application.

time by offering a graphically richuser interface that does virtually anything possible in an advanced

Windows PC-type interface.

Interoperability, because DTMsleverage existing DDs and need to

EFFICIENT ASSET MANAGEMENT

The solution package comprises all the tools youneed for effective asset management of fielddevices connected to ControlLogix or CompactLogix . From any point in your architecture, you are able to configure or maintainall connected field devices. Combining theFDT/DTM technology and the networkingcapabilities of the Integrated Architecture,everything is accessible to you. You pass throughthe different layers of the architecture andnetworks to access directly to any field device.

Major measurement and status information arealso accessible by the controller and can bepresented to operators.

Because FieldCare is based on the openFDT/DTM standard, you can configure andmanage any HART device with a device DTMusing this bundle. Device DTMs for all

Endress+Hauser instruments are also included.
