The design of this display is availablein four different colours.
The light scene function has 40 memoobjects and the alarm function has 50alarm objects.
The simulated presence records tele-grams from up to 20 objects (1bit or 1byte) via the bus and sends themagain to the bus corresponding to therecording.
In the message function each messa-ge received can be activated or deac-tivated via a separate communicationobject.
Touch buttons with the application„Button“ have a feedback object.
If a touch button with the application„Dimmer with slider“ is pressed long,an additional window with a slidingcontrol (slider) for dimming opens.
Via the logic function „Time function“the functions of staircase lighting,switch-on delay and/or switch offdelay can be implemented.
The room thermostat is used to set the„Temperature display in adjustmentmode“. Alternative to the „“Setpoint“,also the „Relative current setpoint (+/-K)“ can be displayed.
Each page can be protected againstunauthorized access by means of aPIN. There are four hierarchic levels.
The screen saver can be deactivatedby the user.
The jump function can refer directly tothe information page.
For cleaning purposes the display canbe temporarily blocked via a commu-nication object.
For a better overview during projectplanning, descriptive text may be ad-ded to light scenes, the time programsand the individual pages. The text ap-pears in the function view. Instead of„Page 1“, for example, „Living room“ isdisplayed.
The parameter software also has theoption of searching for internaladdresses.
A larger display makes it easier for theuser to administer the individual timeprograms.

The panel has an improved page ma-nagement function. Up to 21 indepen-dent pages with various hyperlinkfunctions and operator levels can nowbe created. It is also possible to retrie-ve the system page, the “Extras” page,the alarm control unit or the alarmmessages from each page via a touchsurface.
The end user can retrieve and saveseveral functions (up to 20) one afterthe other and is thus able to createmacros. If a touch surface is assigneda macro function, all the storedfunctions are retrieved in sequencewith only one operation. The panelcan manage up to 32 different macros.
User-defined symbols can be storedin the panel and represented on thebuttons. The panel software generatesthe symbol which should be displayedin the panel using *.bmp, *.jpg or *.giffiles and automatically adapts theimage size.
Whe the panel is inactive, it switcheson a screen saver. This can be imagesfrom the multimedia/SD card whichare displayed in sequence or animage that is stored in the memory ofthe panel. A single image must beloaded beforehand from the multime-dia/SD card into the panel‘s memoryvia the menus of the panel software.The multimedia/SD card can then beremoved.
If the screen saver or a backgroundimage is displayed, an additional ba-sic function such as “Basic lightingON” can be retrieved onto the displayvia a long push button action(approx. 5 s, corresponds to a longoperation).
The preview display has been impro-ved. The preview window now alwaysdisplays the function which has justbeen parameterised. It is possible tocheck the function of individual pages
and hyperlink functions via the pre-view window.
The signalling function is carried outas an additional function and no lon-ger has its own page. Up to 30 inde-pendent inputs can now be integratedin the alarm control unit i.e. only a cy-clical monitoring of the input is carriedout if required.
Alternatively, each page can be desi-gned with symbols for CD, TV, DVD,video or tuner control and used forcontrolling media.
Status feedback objects can be acti-vated for switch, dimmer and shuttertouch surfaces as well as hyperlinkfunctions and linked with separategroup addresses or actions.
The system time is backed up in theevent of a mains failure. The internaltime can be synchronised via the bus,via the system frequency or via an in-ternal quartz clock in the panel.
In order to control KNX room thermo-stats, a 1-byte communication objectfor toggling between the room tempe-rature modes can be enabled in thesettings of a room thermostat touchsurface or in the room thermostatfunction.
The timer channels can now alsosend 2-byte values, lightscenes ormacro numbers.

The SMARTtouch B&O panel is identi-cal to the “standard” SMARTtouch pa-nel. In addition, it can be controlledremotely via a Bang & Olufsen remotecontrol Beo4 e.g. to retrieve a light-scene in the panel. The SMARTtouchB&O panel can further also be opera-ted via the Busch-Jaeger IR remotecontrol.

Installation of the supplementarysoftware (RCP tool)
To be able to parameterise SMART-touch panel in ETS 3 or in Power-Pro-ject (from version 4.5 onwards), thesupplementary software RCP-Toolmust be installed. You can find thissoftware on the Internet atwww.Busch-Jaeger.de.
The software can be plugged intoETS 3 and/or Power-Project. That me-ans that as soon as you retrieve theparameters of a panel in ETS or Po-wer-Project, the panel software is ope-ned automatically in which you carryout all further settings.
Before you start the installation ofthe panel software, please ensurethat ETS or Power-Project has alrea-dy been installed on your computer.
The following section describes theindividual installation steps.
An installation wizard helps you to in-stall the panel software. This is startedby double clicking on the file“Setup.exe” and can run in either“German” or “English”.
The panel sofware requires at leastWindows 98. You require full administ-rator rights of the operating system inorder to install the panel software.
Once you have confirmed the welco-me screen with “Next”, you can enteryour name and the name of your com-pany in the “User info” dialog. If sever-
al users work on the computer onwhich you wish to install the software,you can limit access to the software.This means that either all the userscan start the software or only you.
The installation path for the panel soft-ware is defined in the next dialog. Bydefault, this is “C:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\”. It is advisable to keep thispath as e.g. Power-Project has thesame default installation path. All KNXprograms and additional KNX soft-ware can thus be easily located onthe hard disk.

In the “Select functions” dialog, youdefine the VD3 file should be copiedlocally onto the hard disk. You requirethese to be able to use the SMART-touch panel in connection with an ETSversion. (Also observe the note at theend of this chapter).
By default, the files are copied into thefollowing directory:C:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\RCP-Tool\VDX
Once you have confirmed the “Selectfunctions” dialog with “Next”, the in-stallation wizard carries out an initiali-sation. This means that all the requi-red files are compiled together andstored temporarily. The dialog “Up-dating the system” is shown for visualmonitoring purposes.
All the required files are then copiedinto the appropriate directories. Theinstallation is concluded with an auto-matic amendment of the Windows re-gistration entries.
The computer must be restarted de-pending on the operating systemused.
NoteOnce you have installed the panelsoftware, you must import the productdata (VD3 files) in the ETS database ifyou wish to parameterise a panel withETS.
To do so, please retrieve the ETS im-port tool ETS 3 and import the VD3 file(ETS 3) from the default directoryC:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\RCP-Tool\VDX.
You must import the VD3 file in full.
Caution:The import of individual files is notpossible.

Commissioning a panel
The commissioning of a panel is pos-sible either via a multimedia/SD card(not included) or with “standard” busprogramming.
Due to the high level of functionality,full programming via the bus takes along time depending on the configura-tion and medium (Twisted Pair or Po-wernet).
The use of the multimedia/SD card istherefore recommended for quickand simple commissioning.
It is not advisable to carry out full busprogramming via Powernet.
The menu item “Download” of thecommissioning tool therefore has twofurther submenus via which the usercan select the required commission-ing method. If he selects programmingvia multimedia card, the configurationis stored on a card which is connectedto the PC.
With a project that is saved in this way,the panel itself can be commissionedby inserting the card. The slot for themultimedia/SD card is located behindthe chrome flap of the panel.
Several projects can be stored on onemultimedia card. After inserting thecard in the panel, the user can selectthe required project which should beloaded into the panel.

To do so, the “Commissioning” optionfrom the “System“ menu of the panelmust be retrieved.
Note 1:If the panel is in the “Commissioning”menu with the option “Read multime-dia/SD card” selected and a short bus/mains voltage failure occurs (approx.2-3s), the device no longer reacts topush button actions and does not re-spond to telegrams from the bus. Thebus/mains voltage must be reset to beable to operate the device.
Note 2:If a USB card reader is used to writethe multimedia/SD card under theWindows 2000 operating system, thereader may not be correctly enabledby the operating system once it hasbeen accessed. The panel then issuesa corresponding signal.
Access to the multimedia/SD card canin most cases only be re-establishedonce the computer has been restarted.This error no longer occurs under theWindows XP operating system.

Functions of the panel software
The functions and applications arearranged with all the communicationobjects in the centre. If necessary, theindividual functions/applications mustfirst be activated so that the communi-cation objects become visible. Thefunctions are defined via a pull-downmenu.
The parameters of the individual func-tions are displayed on the right-handside. The parameters of the function
that is marked in the centre are alwaysdisplayed.
To obtain a better overview, individualfunctions can be temporarily hiddenvia the function view.
The buttons at the bottom always jumpdirectly to the selected function. This isparticularly advisable if the functiontree in the centre has been fully exten-ded.
If you have inserted a SMARTtouchpanel in Power-Project or in ETS,open the panel software by retrievingthe “Edit device” dialog (Power-Pro-ject) or the parameters (ETS) of thepanel. The panel software starts auto-matically with the following interface.
The method of operation of the panelsoftware is identical to that of Power-Project or ETS. The “standard” groupaddresses and the internal group
addresses are arranged on the left-hand side. Internal group addressesare not sent on the bus and are there-fore used to relieve the load on thebus. A touch surface can for examplebe linked with a lightscene via an in-ternal group address. The groupaddresses and the internal groupaddresses are linked with the commu-nication objects in the centre usingdrag & drop.

Note:
If a communication object linked to agroup address and then unlinkedagain, it is possible that the groupaddress must be deleted first in theETS or in PowerProject, so the com-munication object can be re-connec-ted again.

Copying a panel
Only one panel can be parameterisedat one time. To provide several panelswith the same functionality (generati-on of a duplicate of a previously confi-gured panel), please proceed as fol-lows:
Retrieve the function “Save as...” fromthe File menu. The project is storedwith the file ending *.rcp. Now closethe panel software. Please insert anew panel in ETS or Power-Project.This can be in the same or anotherproject. Then open the panel softwarefor the inserted panel. Select thefunction “Open” in the File menu andselect the previously saved file.
During the import, the following win-dow is displayed in which you can sel-ect whether the import should be car-ried out with or without group addres-ses.
During an import with group addres-ses, you must ensure that all thegroup addresses or actions are alrea-dy located in the project with identicalEIS types to the template. Otherwise,you can only import the data withoutgroup addresses. You must thenhowever link them again.
Auto backup file
When you retrieve the menu item “Set-tings” under the File menu, you canset the period, after which the panelsoftware will carry out an automaticbackup. This is a temporary file withthe extention „*.paf“ which is stored onyour hard disk (C://Documents andsettings/User/lokal settings/Temp/*paf).
If e.g. your computer crashes, you canretrieve the last automatic backup withthe menu item “Reset” under the Filemenu.
Copying functions
To shorten the configuration time, it ispossible to copy the settings of a func-tion (touch surface, time function, light-scene). To do so, click on the functionwith the right mouse button whichshould be copied.
Note:Only touch surfaces with identical ap-plications or functions can be duplica-ted.

Insertion of background images(only SMARTtouch colour)
If the function “Manage images...” isretrieved from the “Edit” menu, a dia-log window opens via which theimages can be imported into the panelsoftware.
To do so, select the required file viathe “Open” symbol - graphics files ofthe type *.jpg, *.bmp or *.gif can beimported. The graphic is then display-ed in the preview window. The imageis prepared for storage in the panelvia the button “Save backgroundimage in the panel”.
So that the background images arethe correct size, the imported imagesare calculated directly in the panelsoftware so that they match the size(320 x 240 pixels) that can be display-ed in the panel.
If a project is stored on a multimedia/SD card for commissioning, a “Pic-tures” folder is created at the sametime by the panel software. This foldercontains all the background images inthe appropriate size.
The background images are used asscreen savers. The screen saver isswitched on automatically when thepanel is not operated for an extendedperiod. The images which are storedin the “Pictures” folder on the multime-

If thescreen saver is now switched on, thepreviously stored image is displayed.It is possible for example to display acompany logo.
Insertion of user-defined symbols
The panel software offers the possibi-lity not only of displaying text on a but-ton but also of storing symbols. Thesecan be prefabricated symbols whichare already contained in the panelsoftware or user-defined symbols.User-defined symbols must first beimported in the panel software. To doso, the “Manage symbols” dialog win-dow is retrieved via the “Edit” menu.
In a similar way to the function of im-porting background images, variousgraphics files (*.jpg, *.bmp or *.gif) canbe imported via the “Open” symbol inthe “Manage symbols” dialog window.The panel software can manage a to-tal of 126 different files.
In addition to the large preview win-dow, the panel software also displaysthe graphic in the format 55x55 and24x24 pixels. The symbol graphic isshown in the panel in these two sizes.The panel software carries out anycompression of the graphics file auto-matically.
Busch-Jaeger Elektro supplies addi-tional symbols to those which are al-ready stored in the panel software.These symbols are automaticallystored in the “Symbols” directory inthe “EIB programs” folder during theinstallation of the panel software.

Preview
The panel software has the option todisplay a preview window. This pre-view window indicates all the configu-red buttons, symbols and text as theywill later be used in the panel.
A functional check can also be carriedout via the preview window. This me-ans that a mouse click on a button inthe preview window has the same ef-fect as touching the button on the pa-nel.
The preview window always displaysthe page which has just been configu-red. If the parameters of page 1 aremodified for example, the preview in-dicates page 1. If page 15 is set, thepreview displays page 15. If howeverhyperlink functions are configured inthe pages so that it is possible tochange from page 1 to page 15 bypressing a button, the preview alsochanges from page 1 to page 15 byclicking with the mouse on the appro-priate button.

Functions of the panel software Important note 1
If you have inserted a SMARTtouchpanel in ETS 3, you may no longerretrieve the following function:– Shrink database
The reason for this lies in the databa-se structure of ETS 3. It is not largeenough to take all the panel informati-on. The panel information is storedtemporarily in several files on the harddisk. If you carry out the functionmentioned above, the files are nolonger taken into account and theresult is data loss or damage to thedatabase.
Important note 2
The latest control panel (part numberwith „102“) also has a more recentfirmware than the previous models(part number without „102“). The diffe-rent firmware versions make it impos-sible to load a project created with thecurrent control panel software intoand „older“ control panel.
If additional functions or pages whichalready existed in the previous versi-on of the panel software should beadded to an ”older” panel, this can becarried out in the usual way. This me-ans that the panel software detectswhether it is an ”older” panel (e.g. be-cause it has been configured in aPowerProject or ETS project) and thenonly displays the functions which canalso be used in the panel.
If the hardware of an ”older” panelshould fail so that it must be replacedby a newer version, there are two pro-cedures to follow:1. The functions must all be reconfigu-red using the current panel software.More recent panel functions could beoffered to the customer at the sametime.2. The current panel software must beprovided with the older firmware vari-ants by the manufacturer. This meansthat all the new functions cannot beconfigured and thus the panel adoptsthe behaviour of the previous model.

General
By default, the panel always has thelanguages German and English.When the panel software is retrievedfor the first time, it is possible to selecta third system language which is au-tomatically transferred to the panelduring the commissioning phase. Thesystem language is defined via theappropriate general parameters. Thefollowing left-justified languages canbe selected:– Czech– Danish– German– English– Spanish– Italian– Dutch– Polish– Russian– Swedish– Chinese
If a right-justified style of writing ischosen, the text on the individual but-tons always runs from left to right. Todisplay a writing style from left to right,additional spaces must be addedwhen entering text, so that the text ispositioned at the right edge of thetouch button. The following right-justi-fied languages can be selected:– Arabic– Hebrew
The panel distinguishes between ashort and long push button action e.g.when dimming or moving shutters. It ispossible to set the period which thepanel detects as a long push buttonaction. By default, the period is set at500 ms.
Temperature display
The panel has an internal temperaturesensor. The measured value is dis-played on the homepage. The displaycan also be deactivated via the setting“Display temperature indoors”.
The outside temperature is not dis-played by default. The display can beactivated via the display “Display tem-perature outdoors”. The outside tem-perature is the temperature valuewhich the panel receives via the2-byte communication object “Tempe-rature outside”. It can be recorded e.g.by a “standard” KNX temperature sen-sor and sent via its2-byte communication object “Actualvalue”.
If the indoor and outdoor temperatureshould be displayed simultaneously,the corresponding point on the dis-play changes every 5 s.
Date and Time
The panel can display the date andtime. The display can be carried out inthe German format (TT.MM.JJJJ; 24h)or in the English format (MM.TT.JJJJ;12h).
The panel can send and receive thedate and time on the KNX via the two3-byte communication objects “Date”and “Time”. The panel can thus act asa master clock for other KNX devicesor as an extension unit. In its functionas an extension unit, the date andtime can e.g. be sent by an KNX DCF-77 receiver on the bus. By default, thedate and time are neither sent nor re-ceived.
If the panel does not receive any timeand date information via the KNX, the-re are two possiblities for synchroni-sing the internal clock. This can becarried out via the system frequencyor via an internal quartz clock. In theEuropean association of system ope-rators (countries of the UCTE, Unionfor the Co-ordination of Transmissionof Electricity), synchronisation via thesystem frequency is advisable as avery precise control of the 50 Hz sy-stem frequency takes place here. In allother countries, the internal quartzclock should be used for synchronisa-tion.
If the date and the time should be dis-played on the panel, the correspon-ding display switches between dateand time every 5 s.
Note:The date and time do not need to bereset after a bus/mains voltage failureas the panel can store the time anddate for 24 hours. In the case of a TPpanel, the energy store is loaded viathe bus voltage.
Info page, alarm clock, timer
The panel has an info page, an alarmclock and a timer. All three functionscan be activated in the basic settings.The user accesses these functions viathe “Extras” page.

With the info page, it is possible toleave a short message on the panelwith the help of the pen. Other userscan detect by the “Info page” symbolat the top of the display that a messa-ge has been stored in the panel. If theinfo page is deleted, the “Info page”symbol is immediately removed fromthe display.
Via the alarm clock or timer signal, it ispossible to trigger an acoustic signalvia the panel at a specific time or oncea given period has elapsed.
Address page
The contact person, company, tele-phone, fax and email of the electricalcompany which carried out the instal-lation can be stored on the addresspage. In the event of changes, the cu-stomer (end user) does not need tosearch in his documentation to findthe right contact person. He will findall the relevant data directly in the pa-nel.
System settings
The system settings are not enabledas standard. This means that a fourdigit code (by default 0000) must beentered on the display so that chan-ges can be carried out. Only authori-sed personnel may therefore view andmodify the system settings. It is possi-ble however to enable the system set-tings in principle e.g. in enclosedrooms with users who are permitted tocarry out settings. The system settingscan also be fully disabled.
Caution:If you disable the system settings com-pletely, the menu item “Commission-ing” on the panel can no longer beselected. In this case, you must carry
out a long operation at the bottom leftof the display and thereby switch onthe mains voltage. The menu item “Sy-stem” becomes visible and the panelcan e.g. be commissioned with themultimedia/SD card. The display theninverts all the operating elements.
If the system settings are saved withthe help of a code, the code is definedvia the parameter “Code for systemsettings”.

The time which has been stored in theparameter “Background illuminationon for” is modified via “Backgroundillumination”.
The volume and the contrast or bright-ness must be adapted to the environ-ment and requirements of the enduser.
The complete touch surface is syn-chronised again with the touchscreenadjustment. To do so, the operatingpen must be clicked precisely on spe-cific points which are indicated on thedisplay.
The commissioning can be carried outboth via the KNX and via the multime-dia/SD card module slot. For Power-net variants, it is not advisable to

carry out the programming via thebus as this is very time-consumingand faults caused by cyclical trans-mitters (e.g. room thermostats ormovement detectors) can lead tothe programming being interrupted.
Start page
Up to 21 pages with 5, 8 or 10 opera-tor elements, touch surfaces or sym-bols can be created in the panel. Thefirst page is set by default as the startpage i.e. the first page is the pagefrom which further pages can be ac-cessed. This is carried out via hyper-link functions (see also hyperlinkfunctions under the functional descrip-tion of touch surfaces). Each of the 21other pages can be declared as astart page via the setting “Use as startpage”.
Macro recorder
Via the macro function of the panel, itis possible to store several functions(up to 20) which can be retrieved viathe panel.
To do so, at least one touch surfacemust be assigned the function “Macroretrieval”. The communication object“Macro number” of the touch surfaceis linked via an internal address to the“Macro actuator” communication ob-ject. In addition, an external groupaddress can be linked to the 1-bytecommunication object “Macro actua-tor” so that a macro function can alsobe retrieved by a switch sensor. Up to32 different macros can be stored inthe panel.

to regulate the room temperature. Nor-mally, he has to click through severalpages to do so. Via the macrofunction, the user is able to retrievethese functions, which he always re-trieves in sequence, with a singlemouse click.
To store a macro, the macro touch sur-face must be pressed for a long peri-od (approx. 3s). The panel then dis-plays a window after each operationof a touch surface in which the usercan decide whether or not he wouldlike to store the function in the macro.After the last function which should bestored, the saving of macros can befinished in the same window.
To retrieve the macro function, theuser only needs to touch the macrotouch surface once and the panel car-ries out all the functions in the storedsequence.
Background illumination
The backlighting of the panel is swit-ched on automatically as soon as thedisplay is operated. After the adjusta-ble period “Background illuminationon for”, the backlighting is switched offagain, provided that the panel is notoperated again.
In the basic settings, the panel hasthree 1-bit communication objects. Allthree are used for controlling thebacklighting.
The backlighting can be switched viathe “Background illumination” object. Ifan ON telegram is received from theKNX, the backlighting is switched onwhile an OFF telegram switches it offagain. The object can be linked withan internal address or external groupaddress/action.
If the display has been switched onvia an external group address/action,the internal overshoot time starts fromthe receipt of the telegram. The back-lighting switches off automaticallyonce the overshoot time has elapsed.If the backlighting should be perma-nently lit, the parameter “Backgroundillumination on for” should be set to“always on”.
The object “Status background illumi-nation” sends an ON telegram assoon as the backlighting has beenswitched on. If the backlighting is ex-
tinguished after the set overshoottime, the object sends an OFF tele-gram.
The object “Status background illumi-nation” is temporarily disabled via the“Enable status” object. If the “Enablestatus” object receives an ON tele-gram, the status object sends tele-grams after a change. If an OFF tele-gram is received, no status telegramsare sent after a change.
If an ON telegram is received on ob-ject „Block display“, operation of thecontrol panel is blocked until an OFFtelegram has been received on thecommunication object. This functioncould be used, for example, to tem-porarily deactivate the unit for cle-aning purposes via an external but-ton, to prevent a function error beingtriggered during cleaning.
Screen saver(only SMARTtouch colour)
If the parameter “Display screen sa-ver” is activated, when the SMART-touch colour panel is inactive, it dis-plays all the images in sequencewhich are located in the “Pictures” fol-der on the multimedia/SD card or theimage stored in the panel. The panelproceeds in alphabetical order. Theperiod between the images can be set- by default it is set to 1 min.
Basic function
If the backlighting is switched off orthe screen saver is active, a so-calledbasic function can be triggered bypressing the display for a long period.
The basic function is a single tele-gram which is used e.g. to send a cen-tral function such as “Basic lightingON”.
The basic function can of course alsosend an ON telegram. The value thatshould be sent is defined via the para-meter “Send”.
The communication object of the basicfunction can send a 1-byte value in-stead of a 1-bit value. This can eitherbe an absolute value between 0 and255, a percentage between 0 and100% or a lightscene or macro num-ber.

In the control panel up to 21 pageswith 5, 8 or 10 operating elements,touch buttons or symbols can be con-figured. The jump to a single page canbe controlled with a PIN. This meansthat the user activates a touch buttonto jump to a different page, but beforethe page is displayed and can be ope-rated he must enter a four-digit code.
The default setting of this function isinactive, it must be activated for eachsingle jump via parameter „PIN codekey“. Four „Levels“ are available. Thefour levels have a hierarchical struc-ture; i.e. when a user knows the PIN oflevel 2 he can automatically operateall pages protected by level 1. Level 3has access to level 2 and level 4 to alllevels.
The PINs can be set via the systemparameters. The user can change theindividual PINs directly on the controlpanel. The changes are written intothe flash memory and are retainedwhen there is a bus or power failure.
Note:During a download the PINs changedby the user are overwritten with thePINs set in the control panel software.
Background colour
Menu item „Background colour“ influ-ences the colour of the display. Fourdifferent colour variations can be sel-ected. The „classic“ version corre-sponds to the display of the previousmodel up to 101. Also „blue“, „bright“or „black“ can be selected as alternati-ve. The changes that are made herefor the background colour of the indi-vidual image sectors (header, statusline, display area), for the colour of thefonts and the buttons, apply to all pa-ges of the control panel.

Functional description: Touch sur-faces (Homepage)
Homepage
The start page of the panel is page 1by default but each of the 21 other pa-ges can be declared the start page. Ifa submenu (pages 2 to 21, system,“Extras”, alarm control unit or alarmmessages) has been retrieved via thetouch surfaces, the panel changesback automatically to the last operatorpage after a long period of inactivity.To do so, the parameter “Page auto-matically in the foreground” must beactivated. The preset delay after whichthe panel displays the start page is1:01 min and is adjustable.
Note:If you do not require the panel to re-vert back automatically to the startpage, you must ensure that all the hy-perlink functions concur with this i.e.you cannot create a page from whichthe user cannot access the previouspage or the start page. The previewwindow of the panel software offersthe opportunity to check the configura-tion of the various pages and their hy-perlink functions.
Hyperlink functions to submenus andoperator functions can also be crea-ted on the start page itself.
Note:When a page is activated the standardheadline page 1 ..21 can be replacedby any text (e.g. „living room“, „be-droom“, or „lighting“). This text is alsoadopted in the tree of the parametersoftware, to maintain a better over-view when configuring parameters.
Monitoring function(only SMARTtouch)
A signalling function can also be re-trieved via any touch surface on thepanel. To do so, the touch surfacemust be assigned a hyperlink function.“Alarm control unit” must then be sel-ected in the hyperlink parameter.
In the dialog field “Monitoringfunction” which is retrieved via the firsttouch surface, the panel can be armedor deactivated and an overview of allthe alarm and fault messages can beretrieved.
Note:The monitoring function is not used toset up a VDS-certified alarm systembut merely offers the opportunity ofmonitoring e.g. windows, doors or in-terior rooms via KNX-type movementdetectors. It is not a replacement foran alarm system.
Please consider that the installationgoes into the disarmed mode after amains voltage failure, because thesetting of the inputs can be undefinedafter a mains voltage recovery. To pre-vent the case you have to buffer themains voltage over a UPS.
Inputs (Monitoring function)
The monitoring function can monitorup to 30 inputs. Each input has its own1-bit communication object available“Input ...”. The parameter “Number ofinputs” determines how many inputsare actually visible.
It can be set for each input via the pa-rameter “Type of input” whether it is awindow, a movement detector whichmay or may not be in the entrancearea, a “standard” door or one of threedoors in the entrance area. All inputswill treated in the same way up to themovement detector in th entrancearea, that means a arming is also pos-sible if the detector in the entrancearea is switched on.
Attention:In order that the installation do not ac-tivate directly after the arming, thetime delay up to the arming have to beset larger than the follow-up time ofthe movement detector.
Text can be freely assigned to eachindividual input via the parameter “De-scription of the input”. If an input isnow triggered on the panel, not onlythe input number is shown but also a

clear text description such as “Ba-throom window open”.
The input objects are linked via groupaddresses with the sensor objects (bi-nary inputs, magnetic contacts, switch/key bolt contact, …) of the window,movement detector or doors that areto be monitored. The linked sensorsmust send their input signals, both “0”and “1”, cyclically on the bus so thatthe panel knows the status of the in-stallation at any time.
The inputs are not monitored cyclical-ly by default. This can be set for eachindividual input via the parameter “Cy-clical monitoring of the inputs”.
If e.g. a movement detector is preven-ted from detecting movements throughsabotage, the panel notes the sabota-ged movement detector as it has notsent out any telegrams within the “Mo-nitoring time of inputs”. The panel thusautomatically sets the linked input tofault mode.
The “Monitoring time of inputs” can beadjusted and represents a compromi-se between a high bus load and sy-stem reliability. The monitoring timeshould be set too short, particularly inPowerline installations.
Note:Set the cyclic period of the sensors(binary inputs or movement detectors)to sensible values.Example:– Monitoring time of the inputs:

4.5 minIt is therefore guaranteed that a tele-gram is received at least twice withinthe monitoring time.
If the mains voltage fails, the inputsinitially remain inactive on mainsvoltage recovery. The time until theinputs become active is set via the pa-rameter “Monitoring of inputs aftermains voltage recovery”.
If an ON telegram is set while the sys-tem is “armed”, the input is triggered.That means that the “Text for on” isentered in the panel in the list of moni-toring functions. If an input fails, the“Text for failure” is entered in the list offaults. Both the “Text for on” and the“Text for failure” can be freely set foreach input.
Each input can be activated or deacti-vated via a 1-bit communication ob-ject „Enable input ...“. When the objectreceives an ON telegram, telegramsreceived on the associated input ob-ject are evaluated. When OFF tele-grams are received, telegrams fromthe input object are ignored until anON telegram is received again on theenable object.
Note:After bus / mains voltage has beenrestored or after the first start-up theinputs are enabled as default. I.e., a„1“ is present at all enable objects.
The individual input objects can beactivated or deactivated both in an„armed“ and in a „disarmed“ state.
The monitoring function has two com-munication objects “Releasing inputs”and “Failure inputs” which can sendout the input states. The two objectscan adopt 1-byte or 14-byte values.This is dependent on the setting “Typeof output”.
In the case of a 1-byte output variablethe number of the input which hasbeen triggered is sent to the 1-byteobject “Releasing inputs”. If an inputfails, the number of the input whichhas failed is sent to the 1-byte object“Failure inputs”.
If the “Type of output” is set to 14 by-tes, the “Message text at releasing” ofthe respective input is sent to the 14-byte object “Releasing inputs” whenan input is triggered. In the event of afault, the 14-byte object “Failure in-puts” sends the “Message text at failu-re” of the input. Both text elements canbe freely assigned to each input andcontain up to 13 characters.
The transmitted 14-byte text can opena pop-up window on the display withthe help of the alarm functionality,which immediately displays a visualand/or acoustic fault or a trigger. Theuser does not therefore need to firstchange to the list of alarm and faultmessages but sees directly that thereis a problem with the installation.
If at least one input has a fault, the in-stallation can be armed directly. Theinput or inputs must first be acknow-ledged in order to arm the system. Thefaulty inputs are removed from the mo-nitoring as a result. The acknowledge-

ment can either be carried out directlyon the panel or via the 1-bit communi-cation object “Failure reset inputs”.
Example:The installation should be armed ex-ternally at an entrance door with thehelp of a key-operated switch. The mo-vement detector in the cellar is howe-ver currently faulty i.e. it no longersends a cyclical telegram and is thusfaulty. So that the user can still arm hissystem, he must first acknowledge thefaulty input. This can e.g. be carriedout via a 1-fold switch sensor.
Note:Using this function, it is possible toarm the installation even if an input isfaulty. The input is temporarily remo-ved from the monitored installationthrough the acknowledgement.
If the parameter “Delete failure mes-sage at external display” is set to“yes”, a so-called zero string is sent tothe object “Failure inputs” in the eventof a fault acknowledgement with thevalue zero. This means that a tele-gram is sent whose useful informationconsists of bits with the value “0”. Dis-play text on an external display is thusreset.
Arming (Monitoring function)
The installation can be armed inter-nally or externally. Internally meansentering a four-digit PIN code directlyon the panel. This is defined via thesetting “Code for arming/disarming”.The code can however also be modi-fied by the user. To do so, the old codemust be entered once and the newcode must be entered twice.
Note:Please note the setting “Overwritecode at download”. If “yes” is selected,the code which has been modified bythe user is overwritten with the origi-nal code after each reconfiguration ofthe panel.
The system can be armed externallyvia a maximum of three 1-bit commu-nication objects “Arming ...”. Each ob-ject can be controlled via a separategroup address. This is necessary if thesystem should be armed from severalentry doors. It is defined via “Numberof entry doors” whether one, two orthree arming objects are displayed.
If the installation was armed external(e. g. over a key switch), it can be dis-armed over these or over the PIN-Code at the panel. If it will be disar-med over the PIN-Code, all objects(Arming 1 up to 3) will be reset. At thesame time the objects send the valuezero on the bus (to reset the activationdevice like e. g. a key switch).
Note:If the installation was armed over twoor three external activation devices, itcan be disarmed either central at thepanel over the PIN-Code, wherebyalso all external arming objects will bereset, or “all” external activation de-vices have been set to “disarmed” oneafter the other. After that the installati-on goes into the disarmed mode. Thena disarming switch at the panel is notnecessay.
When the system is armed, all the in-put objects must send the value “0”cyclically i.e. all the windows must beclosed and the movement detectorscannot report any movement. If theinput should not send any “0” valuescyclically due to a fault, the panel canbe acknowledged directly via the pa-nel or via the object “Failure reset in-puts” of the input i.e. removed from themonitoring. It is then possible to armthe system.

If this delay did not exist, inmany cases an alarm would alwaysbe triggered immediately after armingthe system.

After power failure and return after-warwds an armed installation will notfall back in the disarmed status. Thismeans the installation switched auto-matically in the armed status.
Armed status (Monitoring function)
It is indicated via two 1-bit communi-cation objects that the system is in thearmed state. The object “Armed status”sends an ON telegram as soon as thesystem is armed (once the “Timedelay at arming” has elapsed). If thesystem is disarmed, the object sendsan OFF telegram. It would therefore bepossible e.g. for an LED of a switchsensor which is mounted at an entran-ce door to be switched.
The second object “Armed status flas-hing” must first be enabled via the cor-responding parameter. A telegram se-quence is then sent via this objectonce the system is armed so that e.g.an external lamp flashes three times.The user who has armed his housevia a key bolt contact is therefore in-formed before he reaches his housethat the system is now set. Dependingon the status of the actuator, six tele-grams are sent with the following use-ful information:

Alarm (Monitoring function)
If an ON telegram is received at aninput in the armed state, the panel trig-gers an alarm. There are four differentalarm messages (objects).
Internal alarm:The internal alarm is triggered imme-diately and without a delay. An ON te-legram is sent to the 1-bit communica-tion object “Internal alarm”. This couldtrigger an additional horn in the houseor be linked with the alarm function ofthe panel itself. In the latter case, amessage and if necessary a signaltone is displayed/triggered at the pa-nel itself.
AlarmThe alarm is a continuous alarm andis sent via the 1-bit communicationobject “Alarm” with a time delay. The“Time delay as long as alarm release”can be set. A warning lamp for examp-le could be addressed via this object.Example:
A system has been armed directly onthe panel in the hallway. The user co-mes home and automatically triggersan internal alarm. He now has the“Time delay as long as alarm release”to prevent an acoustic signal e.g. anoutdoor siren.
Alarm impulseThe 1-bit object “Alarm impulse” isused to address a horn in front of thehouse. In the event of an alarm, thismay only be triggered for maximum 3min (legal regulation). This means thatan ON telegram is sent to the objectonce the “Time delay as long as alarmrelease” has elapsed. The period“Time of the external audio signal”now starts. If this has elapsed, an OFFtelegram is sent. The “Time of the ex-ternal audio signal” can be set to 1min, 2 min or 3 min.
Silent alarmThe silent alarm is retrieved by en-tering the PIN code for the silentalarm.Example:An intruder has entered the house inthe night and forces the owner to can-cel the alarm. Normally, the ownerwould enter the PIN code to deactiva-te the system and the system wouldbe disarmed. If he however enters thePIN code for the silent alarm, the ob-jects “Alarm”, “Internal alarm” and“Alarm impulse” are reset but the 1-bitcommunication object “Silent alarm”sends an ON telegram. A telephonedialling device or similar could beaddressed via this object.
The PIN code for the silent alarm isdefined in the panel software in a si-milar way to the PIN code for arming/disarming the system. The user canmodify the PIN code, whereby hepresses the touch surface that is assi-gned the monitoring function and re-trieves the function “Code for silentalarm” in the subsequent window(only visible in the disarmed state).
Note 1:It is possible to arm the Controlpanelover input of the silent alarm. The acti-vation of the silent alarm goes overthe input of the silent alarm agein. Todisable an active silent alarm is onlypossible over arming the installationagain.

Input failure if armed(Monitoring function)
If an input failure occurs while the sys-tem is armed, this does not trigger analarm. To inform the user about thisinput failure, there is the 1-bit commu-nication object “Inputs failure if ar-med”. In the event of faults, an ON te-legram is sent via this object.
Installation status (Monitoringfunction)
As soon as the status of the panelchanges, the new status is sent viathe object “Installation status”. Each touch surface can adopt variousfunctions. Depending on the set func-tion, the panel software displays diffe-rent communication objects and para-meters.

If this button is “Active”, a windowopens when the touch surface is ope-rated. The “Name of touch surface”appears in the window as a heading.The buttons (designated here with“ON” and “OFF”) can be describedwith text or adopt symbols. This opera-tion mode is set by default (“Operati-on” parameter, “via pop-up window”).
Some touch surfaces can also send avalue directly on the bus (“Operation”parameter, “Direct”). That means thatno further windows are opened whenthe touch surface is pressed. Instead,the preset value e.g. “Send ON tele-gram” is sent directly. For some touchsurfaces, the panel detects in additionwhether the touch surface has beenpressed on the right- or left-hand side.Depending on the side that is pres-sed, the device is switched on or off,dimmed brighter or darker or a shutteris raised or lowered.
As soon as a touch surface is opera-ted, the panel sends a correspondingtelegram to the linked communicationobject. In some windows, a slide ruleappears in addition to the buttons. Ifthe button on the slide rule is set to anew position, the linked object alsosends the new value automatically.
If the status display or the button de-scription should adopt a symbol, it canbe selected from a pull-down menu.The panel software always indicatesall the context-related symbols. (Seealso the parameter listings of the indi-vidual functions)
If the predefined symbols are insuf-ficient, there is the possibility of inte-grating user-defined symbols in thepanel and then displaying them on theindividual touch surfaces or dialogwindows. They must previously beread in via the function “Edit”, “Mana-ge symbols...” (see also the functionsof the panel software “Inserting sym-bols”).
If user-defined symbols have beenimported, they can be selected under“Button description” or “Status display”with the setting ”User-defined symbol”.It is advisable to keep the previewwindow open in order to have directcontrol as to whether the importedsymbol matches the total image.
Page access
The jump to a single page can be con-trolled with a PIN. This means that theuser activates a touch button to jumpto a different page, but before thepage is displayed and can be opera-ted he must enter a four-digit code.
The default setting of this function isinactive, it must be activated for eachsingle jump via parameter „PIN codekey“. Four „Levels“ are available. Thefour levels have a hierarchical struc-ture; i.e. when a user knows the PIN oflevel 2 he can automatically operateall pages protected by level 1. Level 3has access to level 2 and level 4 to alllevels.
The PINs can be set via the systemparameters. The user can change theindividual PINs directly on the controlpanel. The changes are written intothe flash memory and are retainedwhen there is a bus or power failure.
The levels are set under the generalparameters since they apply to all pa-ges. (See also „Page access“ under„Control panel software functions“)
Switch
If the function of the touch surface isdefined as “Switch”, the panel sendsON or OFF telegrams via the associa-ted 1-bit object “Switch”.
In the default setting, the touch sur-face sends OFF telegrams when theright-hand side is pressed and sendsON telegrams when the left-hand sideis pressed. The method of operation ofthe touch surface can be inverted viathe parameter “Behaviour”.
An additional 1-bit communication ob-ject “Status feedback” can be enabledvia the parameter “Status display viastatus feedback”. If a switch actuatorhas a separate status feedback ob-ject, this additional object can be usedto check whether the actuator has ac-tually been switched. Otherwise, the

Push button
In the “Push button” function, a touchsurface has either one or two commu-nication objects. They can be 1-bit or1-byte objects. ON, OFF, TOGGLE orvalue telegrams can be sent on theKNX via the object or both objects.The number of objects is set via thecorresponding parameter while thesize of the communication objects isset via “Object type”.
For 1-bit communication objects, thepulse edge can be set individually. Inthe “Push button” function, there is a1-bit communication object “Switch”available for defined switching. ON,OFF or TOGGLE telegrams can besent on the KNX via this object.
The touch surface can thus be adap-ted to a wide variety of applications. Ife.g. inching mode should be imple-mented, the setting “Send on at risingedge, off at falling edge” should beselected.
In the 1-byte object selection, valuesfrom “0” to “255” or from “0%” to “100”can be sent via the push buttonfunction.
For the 2-byte object selection, tempe-rature values from -20° C to 100° Ccan be sent out in steps of 0.5° C viathe button function.
Via parameter „Status display viafeedback“ an additional 1-bit commu-nication object „Response (1-bit)“ canbe enabled. If a switching actuator hasa separate feedback object, the addi-tional object can be used to checkwhether the actuator has really swit-ched. On the touch surfaces alwaysthe the last received status is display-ed. Otherwise the panel will alwaysdisplay the confirmation that the touchbutton has been actuated.
Note:Feedback objects should be used withcare for Powernet installations becau-se Powernet telegrams are sent at alower speed (1200 bit/s) than twisted-pair telegrams (9600 bit/s). The busload should therefore be kept as lowas possible for Powernet.
Dimmer
With the “Dimmer” function, an ON orOFF command is sent to the 1-bit com-munication object “Switch” after ashort operation of the correspondingtouch surface. If the surface is opera-ted for a longer period, the panelsends commands for dimming brighteror darker to the 4-bit object “Dim”. Ifthe touch surface is released after along operation, the panel immediatelysends the command “Stop dimming”.
The behaviour of the buttons can beset. This means it is possible to dimbrighter or darker via the left or rightbutton (switch on, off or toggle).
The status display of the button canalso display the direct value(0%…100% or 0…255) as an alterna-tive to the text or symbol display. To doso, the 1-byte object of the touch sur-face must first be linked with that ofthe dimming actuator.

Shutter
In the “Shutter” function, the touch sur-face has two 1-bit communication ob-jects “Move” and “Step”. After a longoperation, the panel sends telegramsto the linked shutter actuators to raiseor lower the shutters. After a shortoperation, it sends telegrams to stopshutter movement or for louvre adjust-ment.
With the setting “Behaviour”, it is defi-ned whether the shutter moves up-wards or downwards when the right orthe left touch surface is pressed.
Two additional 1-bit or 1-byte commu-nication objects “Status feedback” canbe enabled via the parameter “Statusdisplay via status feedback”. In thecase of two 1-bit status feedback ob-jects, one of the objects is used to dis-play the state “Shutter UP“ and theother is used to display “ShutterDOWN”. The current actual position ofa shutter can be read at the 1-byte ob-ject. Shutter actuators which can sendtheir current status via additional com-munication objects are a prerequisitefor using status feedback objects.

The shutter function has an additionalcommunication object “Wind alarm”. Ifa wind alarm function has been inte-grated for example in the installationvia a weather station, the object canbe used to inform the user that a windalarm has been triggered. In the eventof a wind alarm (ON telegram), a pro-hibition sign appears on the push but-ton and the operation is disabled.
Lightscenes external input (1 bit)
In the function “Lightscenes externalinput (1 bit)”, the touch surface has a1-bit communication object. Two light-scenes can be sent via this object. Oneach operation of the pulse edge, theactive lightscene changes (from 0 to1, from 1 to 0).
Lightscenes external input (1 byte)
With the function “Lightscenes exter-nal input (1 byte)”, one of 32 lightsce-nes can be sent via a 1-byte commu-nication object. The setting “Lightsce-ne number” defines which lightsceneis sent.

The user has the option of storinglightscenes himself. To do so, the pa-rameter “Store scene by long push”must be set to “possible”. After a longoperation of the touch surface (> 3 s),a bit is additionally set to “1” in the 1-byte lightscene telegram. A lightscenemodule (generally the SMARTtouchpanel) therefore knows that the reque-sted lightscene should be stored andnot retrieved. (See also “Functionaldescription: Lightscenes”)
Note:If lightscenes are called, which are putdown in the LEAN-/SMARTtouch pa-nel, the call should be made by aninternal group address. Take care, thatevery touch surface object, whichshould send out lightscenes, and thelightscene number object of the light-scene function, is linked via a com-mon internal group address. Whichlightscene number will be send outby the single touch surface, is set inthe parameters of the respective touchsurface.
Macro number
A touch surface can be linked with themacro actuator function via the “Macronumber” function, at best via an inter-nal address. The macro number whichhas been specified via the “Macronumber” setting is sent via the 1-bytecommunication object “Macro num-ber”.
A “new” macro can be stored via along push button action (approx. 3 s).This means that the user can save se-veral functions as a macro which hecontinually retrieves and thus all thestored functions can be retrieved insequence via a single operation of themacro touch surface.
In the “Save macros” mode, the paneldisplays a dialog after each executedfunction in which the user can define
whether or not he wishes to save thisfunction in the macro. At the sametime, he can finish the storing ofmacros in the same window. Up to 20functions can be stored in a macro.
Note:The macro function supports no recor-ding of touch surfaces which send va-lues on rising and falling edge (e. e.dimmer). The reason is the fixed delaytime which is used while playing tele-grams.
Value (1 byte, 2 byte)
The “Value” function causes the touchsurface to send value telegrams viathe associated “Value” object. Depen-ding on whether the function “Value (1byte)” or “Value (2 byte)” has been sel-ected, the communication object is 1byte or 2 bytes in size.
The 1-byte value function can displayor send the following physical varia-bles:– Brightness– Wetness (display only)– Volume– Value– Temperature offset– Current (display only)– Wind direction (display only)
The 2-byte value function has the fol-lowing variables by default:– Temperature– Illumination– Wind forceThe values will be send out direct du-ring the operation of the slide control.

lable” for both values (1 byte and 2byte). Other values than the preset va-lues can thus also be displayed.
You can set the object value and thedisplay value separate over the selec-tion „freely scalable“. The object valueis the value, which is send out overthe 1-Byte- resp. 2-Byte-Object „Va-lue“. The maximum resp. minimum ob-ject value, as well as the smallestresp. largest display value can be setindividual (0…255 at 1-Byte, -99.999…+99.999 at 2-Byte). By this itis possible to show a larger value andat the same time the send out valueslimited on a smaller area.
With the freely scalable setting, it ispossible to parameterise the numberof decimal places, the minimum andmaximum object value and the mini-mum and maximum display value.
If the touch surface is pressed (“showand send”), the panel indicates a sliderule in the open window. The individu-al values can be set via this slide. Adisplay in the upper section of the win-dow indicates the exact value. The va-lue is adjusted upwards or down-wards by the smallest possible unitvia the fields “On” or “Off”.

Floating point value
With the “Floating value” function, atouch surface can display and/or senda value of -99,999 to +99,999. There isa 4-byte communication object “Floa-ting point value” available for thisfunction.
If the “Floating value” touch surface ispressed, the panel displays a sliderule and three buttons in the openwindow. Values can be set intuitivelyvia the slide rule by adjusting the con-trol button. Depending on the setting,the value can be increased or de-
creased via the buttons. The valueswill be send out directly during theoperation of the slide control.
The displayed or transmitted valuescan adopt up to three decimal places,depending on the setting. The defaultsetting is a percentage value(0…100%).
The object value and the display va-lue can be set separately in the para-meters. The object value is the valuewhich is sent via the 4-byte object“Floating point value”. The maximumor minimum object as well as thesmallest or largest display value canbe set individually (from-99,999 to +99,999). It is thereforepossible to display a larger value andto simultaneously limit the transmittedvalue to a smaller range.

Room thermostat
If the function of the touch surface isdefined as “Room thermostat”, thetouch surface is used to control aroom thermostat in order to changeoperating mode in the thermostat.
Since the room thermostat touch sur-face is an active button, a window withthree further buttons “Standby”, “Com-fort” and “Night” opens when it is pres-sed. Each of these three buttons has a1-bit communication object by default.The objects “Comfort/Standby”,“Night” and “Frost/heat protection” arelinked via a group address to objectswith the same names in a room ther-mostat.

of the 1-byte value corresponds to theoperating mode in this case and isdefined in the same way in both thepanel and the room thermostats, inaccordance with the KNX standard.
The actual temperature can be readvia the pop-up window which opensonce the touch surface is pressed.This function must be activated be-forehand by the corresponding para-meters. The operating mode and theactual temperature are not only dis-played in the pop-up window but alsoon the button itself.
Note:The integrated room thermostat of thepanel is retrieved via a push buttonaction on the temperature display inthe bottom line of the display.
Counter
If a touch surface is assigned the func-tion “Counter”, it is used to indicatecounter contents. These can be countswith and without leading signs. It de-pends on the setting “Display type” asto whether the display has a leadingsign.
Three different bit sizes can be dis-played. It is defined directly via thefunctional selection whether a 1-byte,2-byte or a 4-byte count should be dis-played. Depending on the selection, a1-byte, 2-byte or a 4-byte communica-tion object “Counter value” is availa-ble for receiving new count values.
Via parameters „Smallest display va-lue“ and „Largest display value“ thevalue displayed on the touch buttoncan be restricted.
Via parameters „Minimum object va-lue“ and „Maximum object value“ thevalue on the communication object„Counter value“ can be restricted.
Text
The “Text” function enables a 14-bytelong text element to be displayed onthe touch surface or sent. The functionhas a 14-byte communication object“Text” for receiving and sending text.
It is defined via the “Text” setting in theparameters whether the text shouldonly be displayed or displayed andsent. If text should also be sent, thetext is defined in the field “Message
text”. The text may be 13 characterslong.
Hyperlink function
Each touch surface can be assigned ahyperlink function. This means that bypressing the touch surface, it is possi-ble to change to any page (pages 1 to21), to the system page, to the “Extras“page, to the „Info“ page, to the alarmcontrol unit or to the page with thealarm messages.
As the combination of pages is unli-mited, it is important to keep the pagestructure at the forefront during theplanning stage.
Example 1:In a detached house, the panel startswith the following options:– Lounge– Kitchen– Bedroom– Children‘s room 1– Children‘s room 2– Study– Further rooms– House scenes– Alarm messages– Alarm control unit
The two footer buttons refer to the sy-stem page and the “Extras” page. Onthe “Further rooms” page, the usergains access to the following:– Hallway– Cellar– Attic– etc.

Note1:The preview window in the panel soft-ware can be very helpful during theconfiguration. All the hyperlinkfunctions for individual pages can betested here without having to load theproject into the panel. It would be un-fortunate to have defined a hyperlinkfunction to a page from which the usercannot change back. The panel musttherefore be recommissioned and thisis only possible by temporarily isola-ting the voltage.

Functional description: Time pro-grams
Settings
Depending on the parameterisation,the SMARTtouch panel offers up to 20switch channels. The number of chan-nels that should be enabled is definedin the general settings.
In addition, there is the possibility of“Enable time programs for end custo-mers” via the corresponding parame-ter. The modification option can be gi-ven a code or fully disabled.
Changes made by the end customerare stored in the memory of the paneland are not lost on mains voltage fai-lure. If however changes are made tothe rest of the panel configuration andthen programmed into the panel, thepanel software overwrites by defaultthe time settings of the end customer.This behaviour can be modified viathe setting “Overwrite time switch set-tings at download”.
A so-called astro function can also beactivated for the individual switchingtimes. This means that a set switchingtime adapts itself to sunrises and sun-sets. With the option “Town selection”,it is possible to select a town in Ger-many which is closest to the installati-on site of the panel. If the exact coordi-nates are known, the longitude andlatitude can also be entered.
Holiday
The SMARTtouch panel has the opti-on of setting each individual channelto a so-called holiday function. Thesetting “active on holidays” can be sel-ected for each switching time on theswitch channel.
Under the menu item “Extra” on thepanel, you can find the “Holiday”touch surface which you use to activa-te the holiday function. Two further but-tons “Start of holiday” and “End of ho-liday” are activated which you can useto enter the required date. If the datefor the “Start of holiday” is reached, allthe corresponding holiday time pro-grams are activated automatically.
Individual time programs can thus beretrieved in the holiday period (holi-day profile). When the date for the“End of holiday” is reached, the holi-day time programs are automaticallydeactivated.The holiday function is activated viathe 1-bit communication object “Holi-
day”. An ON telegram switches thefunction on while an OFF telegramswitches it off again. The linking of theobject “Holiday” with an internaladdress of the panel can of coursealso be carried out. The communica-tionobject can only reveive, i. e. afterending of a set holliday time no OFF-Telegram will be send out.
Note:Please note that only those switchchannels which you have explicitlyselected via the parameter “Switchingfunction” switch on and off in the holi-day function. This is carried out sepa-rately for each switching time on thechannel.
Switch channels
Each switch channel has at least one1-bit, 1-byte or 2-byte communicationobject. Switch, shutter and/or dimmingactuators can thus be addressed andlightscenes or macros can be retrie-ved. The bit size is defined via the set-ting “Function”.
Alternatively, it can also be defined viathe “Function” parameter whether aroom thermostat should be addressedvia the switch channel. In this case,the switch channel has the two 1-bitobjects “Standby/Comfort” and “Night”or a KNX 1-byte communication object“Toggling of operating mode” availa-ble. It is possible to toggle the 1-bitroom thermostat communication ob-jects “Comfort” and “Night” or the KNX1-byte object directly. Either the inter-nal objects of the panel which are lin-ked via an internal group address oran external room thermostat areaddressed. In the latter case, the ob-jects must be linked with a correspon-ding external group address.
If the function setting is set to “Value (2byte) (0…50°C)”, a 2-byte communi-cation object is available to the switchchannel which can be used to sendtemperature values to room thermo-stats. It is possible via this object tosend a new base setpoint to a roomthermostat at a specified time.
An additional 1-bit enable object canbe activated on each switch channel.This is carried out via the parameter“Activation object”. If an enable objectis activated, this must receive an ONtelegram so that the time switch chan-nel is able to switch.

The switch channels of the SMART-touch panel have 10 switching timeseach. The switching times can eitherbe set on the panel (see diagram) orin the parameters of the panel soft-ware. After the switching time is set, itis displayed on the touch button of thecontrol panel.
It can be defined on which day of theweek and at which switching time thechannel should be switched.
If a 1-bit function is set, it is possible toswitch either OFF/UP or ON/DOWN. Ifa 1-byte function is set, a value bet-ween 0 and 255 or a percentage va-lue of 0% to 100% can be sent. Theroom thermostat function makes itpossible to change to the comfort,standby or night operating mode ofthe room thermostat.

In addition, the astro functionality canbe activated for each channel. Blok-king times can also be set such as“not before 05:00” or “not after 22:00”.The automatic adjustment of the astroprograms are restricted due to the po-sition of the sun which changes daily.For example, a shutter would never belowered later than 22:00, even if a furt-her connection would be necessaryaccording to the ASTRO calender.

Functional description: IR control General
The SMARTtouch panel can beaddressed via IR remote control. Allthe panel types operate together withthe Busch-Ferncontrol® IR hand-heldtransmitter. The SMARTtouch B&O pa-nel can alternatively also be control-led by the Bang&Olufson remote con-trol Beo4.
The receiving range of a panel can beset. The IR colours “white”, “blue” or“white & blue”. It is possible to switchbetween colours with the help of aslide switch directly on the Busch-Ferncontrol® hand-held transmitter. Ifthe IR range is set to “white & blue”,the panel software indicates the indi-vidual push button pairs twice - oncefor the “white” IR range and a furthertime for the “blue” IR range.
The parameter “Bang&Olufson” onlyoperates together with the SMART-touch panel 6x36/100CB. If the IR ran-ge is set to “Bang&Olufson”, the panelcan either be operated via the Busch-Ferncontrol® IR hand-held transmitteror the Bang&Olufson Beo4 IR remotecontrol.
Push button assignment
The individual push button pairs of theBusch-Ferncontrol® IR hand-heldtransmitter or the Bang & Olufson re-mote control Beo4 can be assignedthe following functions:– Switch,– Dimmer,– Shutter,– Push button,– Value– and Lightscene external input.
The memo buttons of the IR hand-heldtransmitter or the push buttons green,orange, red, blue and stop of theBang & Olufson remote control Beo4can be used for sending lightscenenumbers.
Switch
With the “Switch” function, a 1-bit com-munication object “Switch” is enabledfor the push button pair. Switching te-legrams are sent via this object to thelinked actuators. The parameter “Be-haviour” defines whether the right orthe left push button switches “ON”. Thesetting “TOGGLE” means that togglingis always carried out when the right or
left push button is pressed i.e. thecommunication object adopts a newvalue after each operation.
Example:If the object currently has the value“1”, the object adopts the value “0” af-ter an operation and sends it. If theobject has the value “0”, the objectvalue changes to “1” after an operati-on. The value “1” is of course also sentout after a change.
Dimmer
If the function of a push button pair isdefined as a dimmer, the push buttonpair has two communication objects -a 1-bit object “Switch” for sendingswitching telegrams and a 4-bit object“Dim” for sending dimming telegrams.
A switching telegram (ON or OFF tele-gram) is always sent after a short ope-ration. If a push button is operated fora long period (>0.5 s), a dimming tele-gram is triggered.
The parameter “Behaviour” defineswhether dimming brighter or darker iscarried out when the right or left pushbutton is pressed.
Shutter
The shutter functionality of a push but-ton pair causes a push button pair tosend stop/step telegrams after a shortoperation and up/down telegrams af-ter a long operation(>0.5 s) to linked shutter actuators.
The shutter function has two 1-bitcommunication objects - “Step” (stop/step) and “Move” (up/down).
The “Behaviour” parameter defineswhether the shutter is raised or lowe-red when the right or left push buttonis pressed.
Push button
Via the “Push button” function, it ispossible to send telegrams when apush button of the pair is pressed, re-leased or pressed and released. A 1-bit communication object “Switch left”or “Switch right” is available for eachpush button of the pair.

The function “Lightscene external in-put” enables one of 32 lightscenes tobe sent on each push button of thepair. The lightscenes are sent to linkedlightscene modules via a1-byte communication object “Light-scene number”. This can either be theinternal lightscenes which are storedin the panel or an external lightscenemodule.
The settings “Lightscene number left”and “Lightscene number right” definewhich lightscene number is sent.

Functional description: Room ther-mostat
The SMARTtouch panel has an inte-grated room thermostat. This has acomparable functionality to the usualKNX room thermostats.
Operating modes
The room thermostat function has fouroperating modes:– Frost protection mode:
The room temperature control is outof service; the room is only heated ifthe room temperature has fallen solow that there is a risk of the heatinginstallation freezing.
– Comfort mode:The setpoint for the room tempera-ture is set to a value which enables“normal use” of the room at apleasant temperature.
– Standby mode:The room temperature is lowered(e.g. during temporary absence) sothat heating costs are saved but thecomfort temperature can be reachedagain quickly.
– Night mode:If the room is not used for an exten-sive period during the night; the
room temperature is lowered to apleasant night temperature and canbe increased again relativelyquickly in the morning.
It is possible to toggle between theseoperating modes through switchingtelegrams to the communication ob-jects “Frost protection”, “Night” and“Comfort” or via the panel display (seealso the diagram of the operating mo-des). The frost/heat protection has thehighest priority i.e. it is not possible toswitch to another operating mode inthis case. To do so, the frost/heat pro-tection mode must first be deactivatede.g. by closing an open window. Com-fort mode has the next highest priorityfollowed by night mode. If none of thethree operating modes is active, theroom thermostat is in standby mode.
Alternatively, the 1-byte communicati-on object “Toggling of operatingmode” can be used. This is always ne-cessary when room thermostats areused in accordance with the KNXstandard.
Note:It is possible to toggle between theoperating modes over the 1-Bit-com-municationobjects „Comfor“, „Night“and „Frost protection“ or over the 1-bytecommunicationobject „Toggling ofoperation mode“ . A usage of bothpossibilities at the same time canhave a unwanted behaviour.
Party time (Comfort extension)
If the panel is switched to night modevia the bus (or internally), the partytime can be activated via the paneldisplay (change to comfort mode, seediagram top left). Once the party timehas elapsed, the thermostat switchesback to night mode.

During the party time, the symbols fornight and party are shown together inthe display. By pressing the party but-ton again, the party time can be resetmanually to night reduction.
This function can also be used for thetemporary deactivation of the heatand frost protection. As in night mode,it is possible to switch to comfort modefor the parameterised period. Thefunction is switched on and off in thesame way. The symbols for frost pro-tection and party are shown togetherin the display during this comfort ex-tension.
If the party time is inactive, the firstbutton with comfort/standby togglingalso directly operates the comfort ob-ject. It is therefore possible to set theoperating mode directly to comfortmode while in night mode. When thefrost or heat protection mode is active,toggling via the first button is stored inthe comfort object.
The recording of the actual tempera-ture is normally carried out by a built-in temperature sensor. It is also possi-ble to switch to an external measure-ment with the parameter “Actual valuesurvey”. Temperature values which arereceived via the object “Actual tempe-rature” can thus be used for controlpurposes. If no new values are recei-ved for 30 min, the thermostat sus-pends its function and no more controlvalue telegrams are sent.
Note:During an active party time the partytime stops instantly if an OFF-tele-gramm is revieved on the 1-bit-com-munication object „Comfort“.
To toggle from an active party time tothe operation mode „frost protection“and back (over receiving an ON- andthen an OFF-telegram on the 1-bit-communicationsobject „frost protec-tion“) make it that the device changesnot to the party time but to the operati-on mode which was active before theparty time.
Setpoint values
The following setpoint values can beset for heating mode: “Base setpoint in°C (16..31) (Comfort temperature he-ating)”, “Lowering standby operationheating ... (1..15)”, “Lowering nightoperation heating in K (1..15)” and“Setpoint frost protection in °C (4..10)”.
For cooling mode, the comfort tempe-rature can be set via the “Dead zonebetween heating and cooling in K(1…8)”. The setpoint adjustments forstandby and night mode refer to thisvalue: “Increasing standby operationcooling” and “Increasing night operati-on cooling”.

setpoint of 22°C, a dead zone of 3°Cmust be set. If it should now be cooledat 27°C in standby mode, the valuemust be increased by 2°K. Cooling innight mode from 29°C requires anincrease in this value of 4°K.
To protect against uncontrolled over-heating of rooms, it is possible to as-sign a setpoint for heat protection afterwhich cooling takes place. If heat pro-tection is not required, cooling can beswitched off.
The base setpoint can be modified asoften as necessary via the bus. To doso, a 2-byte temperature value mustbe sent to the object “Base setpoint”.
The setpoint temperature can bechanged manually via the rocker but-tons on the panel display. The para-meters “Area for manual setpoint set-ting”, “Maximum increasing of setpointat heating” and “Maximum lowering ofcontrol value at cooling” determinethe scope for modifying the setpoint. Ifa new telegram is sent to the commu-nication object “Base setpoint” after amanual setpoint adjustment, the ma-nual setpoint adjustment can also bereversed.
The display can then show the abso-lute setpoint value in °C or the adjust-ment in K. (Parameter "Display tempe-rature adjustment as difference")
Heating/cooling
To be able to address the various con-troller types for heating or coolingmode, the room thermostat can be pa-
rameterised as a continuous or swit-ching controller. In the case of a swit-ching controller, it is possible to choo-se between a PWM controller (“PI con-troller”) and a “Two-position control-ler”.
In the case of a continuous control re-sponse and a switching PWM control-ler, the preset control parameters re-garding the installation type of theheating or air conditioning system canbe used. If other control parametersare needed, they can be set indivi-dually via the free parameterisationoption. This option should only beused if the user has sufficient experi-ence in control technology.
The continuous controller sends itscontrol value to a 1-byte object. Elec-tromotive or electrothermal driveswhich are connected to heating actua-tors with PWM control can thus becontrolled.
To prevent unnecessary bus loads, itis possible to set by how much thecontrol value must change in order tobe sent on the bus. The setting is car-ried out as a percentage. The sendingof the control value is preset by a cy-clic period, provided it has not beenmodified. This cycle time should notbe set too low (e.g. every 10 min).
In the case of a switching PWM cont-roller, the output value of the controller(0...255) is converted into an ON/OFFratio. If e.g. a control value of 70%should be issued, the ON time is 7min and the OFF time is 3 min at apreset cycle time of 10 min. The dyna-

mic range can also be limited in thesame way as a continuous controller.The parameters “PWM cycle is 0% upto control value” and “PWM cycle is100% up to control value” are used forthis purpose. If e.g. a maximum controlvalue of 80% is set, the controller au-tomatically sends the value 255 whena control value of 204 is exceeded.(See also the diagram below)
To optimise the control characteristicsof the heating or cooling system, the“Cycle time of the control value” canbe set. To set the correct cycle time,the type of heating or cooling as wellas the valve drive used should be ta-ken into account. The following recom-mendations can be used:a)Electrothermal valve drive:
To fully open an electrothermal val-ve drive takes approx. 2-3 minutes.A shorter cycle time than 15 minutesis therefore not advisable.
b)Floor heating:The time constant of a floor heatingsystem is very high. A cycle time of20 minutes is therefore sufficient.
c)Warm water heating:Electrothermal drives are frequentlyused here. A cycle time of 15 minu-tes produces very good results.
d)Electric fan heating:Cycle times between 10 and 15 mi-nutes are recommended, depen-ding on the electric heating andspatial conditions.
If a two-position controller is used forheating or cooling control, it is possi-ble to select the hysteresis by whichthe setpoint fluctuates. If e.g. the set-point in heating mode is 20°C and thehysteresis is 0.5 K, the controller swit-ches on at 19.5°C and switches offagain at 20.5°C. The hysteresis that isset then depends on how quickly theheating can heat up the room or howquickly the cooling cools down theroom as well as how sensitive the cu-stomer is to temperatures. The hyste-resis should not be set too low asotherwise the valve drive continuallyopens and closes. The hysteresisshould however not be set too high asthe temperature fluctuations in theroom are then relatively high.
To increase the accuracy of the con-trol, the parameter “Lowering of hyste-resis” is used. If this parameter is acti-ve the hysteresis is reduced e.g. everyminute by 0.1 K, if required until 0 K.The temperature fluctuations are ef-fectively reduced during the control by
the lowered hysteresis. If a reductionshould be used, it is advisable to sel-ect a reduction that is less than onefifth of the hysteresis.e.g. Hysteresis 0.5 K =>
Reduction < 0.1 K/min
In certain cases (floor heating), it maybe necessary to install a fast-actingadditional system to enable you toheat the room up quickly. If the “Addi-tional heating” is active, the panel hasa second heating system availablewith a switching control(1 bit) or a quasi continuous controlwhich regulates the heating with the1-byte values 0% and 100%.
With the parameters “Level distancefrom the base level to the additionallevel in K” and “Hysteresis (one-si-ded)”, it is determined when the addi-tional level is switched on and when itis switched off. If e.g. the setpoint forthe second heating level is set at18°C with a hysteresis at0.5 K (one-sided), the thermostat swit-ches on at 18°C and switches off at18.5°C.
As some valve drives close at a 1-bytevalue of 255 or a 1-bit value of 1 andopen at the corresponding invertedvalues, the “Effective mode” can beinverted.
The toggling between heating andcooling is carried out automatically bythe room thermostat. If this is not re-quired, the “Toggle between heatingand cooling” can be carried out by anexternal, central control via the 1-bitobject “Toggle heating cooling”. In thissetting, the heating or cooling sym-bols are permanently visible duringthe corresponding operating mode. Ifan ON telegram is received at theoperating mode object, the heatingmode is switched on. If an OFF tele-gram is received, the cooling mode isswitched on.
Automatic shading
To prevent the room warming up dueto sunlight, automatic shading can becarried out by lowering one or severalblinds. The object “Shading” is usedfor this purpose.
The parameter “Shading setpoint” de-termines at which temperature theblinds should be lowered.

If the temperature falls below the setshading temperature, no commandsfor lowering the blinds are sent. Theblinds could be raised at a specifictime e.g. with a central command.
Group master mode
In rooms such as large open-plan of-fices, it can be difficult to achieve ef-fective control throughout the roomwith only one panel operating as aroom thermostat. In such cases, it isadvisable to divide the room into se-veral zones in which one room ther-mostat is used per zone. So that theseroom thermostats always use thesame setpoint, there is the possibilityof activating the parameter “Groupmaster operation mode” for one de-vice. In this case, this device has the2-byte communication object “Basesetpoint for slaves” which is linkedwith the 2-byte communication objects“Base setpoint - Telegr. temperature”of the other devices. The manual set-point adjustment should then bedisabled for these objects. The opera-ting modes heating/cooling or frost/night/comfort must be set exactly thesame on the master and slave devicesby configuring or assigning the samegroup addresses to the operatingmode objects.
Offset
If the measured temperature is corrup-ted by the self-heating of the panel, anoffset value can be set for the roomtemperature measurement (setting“Offset value in K x 0.1 K”).
The installation site of the panel andthe appropriate selection of parametersettings is decisive in the accurate re-cording of temperatures.

Functional description: LightscenesGeneral settings
General
The SMARTtouch panel can be usedto send and save lightscenes. Up to40KNX actuators can be addressedvia the memo communication objects.The number of memo objects availa-ble to the panel is dependent on thetype used and on the setting “Numberof objects per lightscene”. This can bea maximum of 40 objects.
The 1-byte communication object“Lightscene number” is used for retrie-ving lightscenes. The panel receivesone of 32 lightscene numbers at thisobject. These lightscene numbers canbe retrieved internally in the panel e.g.via a touch surface with the appropria-te settings or externally via an KNXswitch sensor.
Note:You have to link the touch surface ob-jects to the object „lightscene number“via a common internal group address,if you want to call up lightscenes overthe touch surfaces of the LEAN-/SMARTtouch panel. The lightscenenumber which should call up, is set inthe parameters of the respective touchsurface (see also „Functional descrip-tion: Touch surfaces (Control page) –Lightscenes external input (1 byte)).
If the panel receives a lightscene tele-gram at its memo objects, it will sendswitching, value or lightscene tele-grams in sequence to linked actua-tors. The “Telegram rate between twolightscene telegrams” can be set. Inthe Powernet version, this should notbe set too low as otherwise the busload is excessively increased. Thepreset value of “1 s” should be suf-ficient and should be changed if ne-cessary. In theTwisted Pair variant, the telegram rateis not critical and can be lowered ifnecessary.
Lightscene
The size of the memo communicationobjects can be adapted to switch, dim-ming or shutter actuators. This meansthat if a switch or shutter actuatorshould be addressed via a memo ob-ject, the object is 1 bit. If a dimmingactuator should be addressed, the ob-ject is 1 byte. The bit size is definedindividually for each memo object viathe parameter “Actuator type”.
The SMARTtouch panel software dis-plays various options depending onthe selection. Alternatively, an actua-tor can also be “Inactive” within a sce-ne. The standard scene headlines1…32 can be replaced with any text(e.g. "Rise" or "Dining"). This text isalso adopted in the tree of the para-meter software, to maintain a betteroverview when configuring parame-ters.
With the selection “Switch or shutteractuator”, it is possible to set “Off/Up”or “On/Down”.
If “Dim actuator” is set as the actuatortype, percentage values between 0%and 100% can be defined in 10%steps. A shutter actuator with 1-bytepositioning can also be controlled viathe 1-byte object.
The size of a memo object can also beset to 2 bytes via the setting “Actuatortype”. In this case, the object is used tosend temperature values between -20and 100°C. Connected room thermo-stats can receive a new base setpointvia this object.
If the parameter “Actuator type” is setto “Lightscene number”, the corre-sponding memo object has a size of 1byte and sends one of 32 lightscenenumbers. There is therefore the possi-bility of cascading lightscenes if the20 memo objects are not sufficient forspecial applications.
Note:A macro function can also be retrie-ved via the lightscene number.
Saving lightscenes
If the end customer would like to carryout changes to the predefined light-scenes, he can do this without anygreat effort. He must first set all thelamps and/or shutters to the requiredposition i.e. he dims or moves the indi-vidual components via separate KNXswitch sensors or via the touch sur-faces of the panel. He then triggers alightscene storage telegram with along operation (> 3 s) of a lightscenetouch surface or an additional light-scene switch sensor. This telegram isreceived at the object “Lightscenenumber”. The individual memo objectsnow send read requests to the linkedKNX actuators. If the read flag is setfor these objects, the actuators send

Functional description: Alarm func-tion
The panel offers the possibility of dis-playing up to 50 different alarm mes-sages. The parameter “Number ofalarm messages” defines the requirednumber.
Each alarm message has its owncommunication object “Alarm 1” to“Alarm 50”. The communication ob-jects can either be 1 bit or 14 byte. Thesetting “Type of the alarm object” setsthe size of the object. Each alarm ob-ject can thus be set individually.
The alarm function can be used incombination with the inputs of the mo-nitoring function (see page 18) or onits own. In combination with the moni-toring function, the inputs and thealarm objects must be linked via inter-nal group addresses.
If a telegram e.g. an ON telegram isreceived at an alarm object, a windowis opened in the screen of the panel,in which the alarm text is displayed.The alarm text can be freely enteredin the panel software. The panel si-multaneously triggers a signal tone.The duration of the signal tone can beset and it can also be deactivated.
All alarm messages which occur orhave occurred can be displayed via afurther window in the panel. The win-dow is opened by pressing the “Ex-tras” button followed by “Alarm mes-sages/Fault messages”. All alarm andfault messages are displayed with thedate, time and acknowledgement.
The acknowledgement of an alarmmessage is carried out via the “OK”button in the alarm text window. If thesetting “Send zero at acknowledge”has been activated with “yes” for a1-bit alarm object, the group addressthat is linked with the alarm object issent on the bus with the value “0”.
In the case of a 14-byte alarm object,an individual acknowledgement text(max. 13 characters) can be sent withthe acknowledgement.
Via the acknowledgement object “Ack-nowledge global”, a group address issent as soon as an acknowledgementhas been carried out at one of thealarm objects.
Note 1:If a power failure happens during anactive alarm the alarm cannot be re-ceipt after power return. I. g. after po-wer return no telegrams will send onthe bus.
Note 2:If an alarm is receipted and releasedagain, e. g. by a cyclic sensor, thealarm must be receipted once more.

Functional description: Presencesimulation
The panel has an integrated presencesimulation function. This means thatthe panel can send out telegrams fullyindependently and conveys the im-pression that the house is occupied.
If the simulated presence is active thecontrol panel software shows 20 1-bitor 1-byte communication objects "Si-mulation 1" to "Simulation 20". Switchand/or blind actuators can be trigge-red via the 1-bit communication ob-jects and value objects can be trigge-red by different actuators via the 1-byte communication objects. In additi-on, it also shows a 1-bit communicati-on object "Enable" for activating ordeactivating the simulated presence.
The presence simulation is activatedwith an ON telegram at the “Activati-on” object. An OFF telegram deactiva-tes it again.
If the presence simulation is not active(OFF telegram has been received atthe activation object), it portrays “nor-mal” telegram traffic. The panel learnsthe habits of the occupants of thehouse. The panel has a memory whichrecords telegrams for seven days. Onthe eighth day, the memory location ofthe first of the seven days is overwrit-ten.
If the panel only had three days to car-ry out a recording, only these threedays are repeated when the functionis activated.
Only one telegram per object can bereceived and stored within the periodof one minute. If more than 20 tele-grams are recorded within a 24-hourperiod, the oldest telegram is remo-ved from the memory.
The panel ignores cyclical transmit-ters during the recording. This meansit only records an actual change.
Once an ON telegram has been recei-ved at the “Activation” object, the pa-nel first waits until the “Waiting time upto the activation” has elapsed. Onlythen does the simulation start. Thedelay can be set between 30 s and2 min.
The activated presence simulationsends the information that has beenrecorded over several days on a 1:1basis.
It is a good idea to integrate functionsin the presence simulation which arenot linked with a holiday function of atime channel. This could be e.g. thelounge light, the kitchen light and abo-ve all the hallway light.
To permit the function to continue tobe carried out without any difficultyafter a mains/bus voltage failure, allrecorded telegrams are immediatelystored in the unit's flash memory. Alsothe status of communication object"Enable" is stored in the flash memory.This enables the unit to know whetherthe function is active and which tele-grams are to be signaled after themains/bus voltage failure.

AND, OR, NAND and NOR
If the function is defined with AND,OR, NAND or NOR, up to four inputcommunication objects can be enab-led per logic function. The size of theinputs can either be 1 bit or 1 byte.When a new telegram is received atthe input, it is switched according tothe selected function. In addition, theinputs can be inverted together.Example of “AND” 1-byte inputs:
If the inputs are 1 byte, all the inputvalues must be greater than “0” in or-der to achieve a positive result.
Example of inverted “AND” 1-byte in-puts:If the inputs are 1 byte and inverted,all the input values must be equal to“0” in order to achieve a positive re-sult.
Each function has an output object towhich the result determined from theinputs is sent. The output object canbe 1 bit or 1 byte, depending on theparameterisation. The default valuewhich should be sent in the event of apositive result can be set. In addition,a delay for sending the output signalcan also be selected.
It is also possible to set an output filter.This means that either only “On”, only“Off” or “On and Off” can be sent for a1-bit output object. With a 1-byte out-put object, it can be set whether “onlythe given value”, “only Off” or “only thegiven value and Off” should be sent.

Via the “Multiplexer” logic function, theinput data to the output can be cont-rolled directly. The function has fourcommunication objects “Controller”,“Input 1”, “Input 2” and “Output”. Thediagram above indicates the functionof a 1-bit multiplexer (S=Controller,E1=Input 1, E2=Input 2, A= Output).
The bit size of the inputs and outputscan be set to 1 byte or 2 byte via theparameter “Object type input/output”.The above functionality is thereby re-tained. That means that only input 1 isvisible at the output if the control inputhas the value “1”. Input 2 is switchedto the output as soon as the controlinput has the value “0”.
Note:The output is only sent when there isan actual change of the inputs. If e.g.the control input changes without theinput value changing, the output si-gnal remains as it is. A new output va-lue is sent only if an input signal chan-ges.
Multiplier
The “Multiplier” function enables up tofour output telegrams to be sent withan input telegram. The input communi-cation object is 1 bit. The output com-munication objects can either be 1 bitor 1 byte. The size is set via a corre-sponding parameter.
It can be defined via the setting “Star-ting conditions” whether a duplicationof an input telegram should be trigge-red after an ON or OFF telegram. Mo-reover, there is the possibility of sen-ding output telegrams with a timedelay. By default, a delay of 1 s is de-fined.
The useful information (values) whichshould be sent with the output tele-grams can be set individually for eachoutput via a corresponding parameter.For 1-bit outputs, this is “On” or “Off”while for 1-byte outputs, values bet-ween “0” and “255” can be assigned.
Gate
With the “Gate” logic function, it is pos-sible to filter specific signals and todisable the signal flow temporarily.The function has three communicationobjects “Control input”, “Input” and“Output”.
The control input or output can be1 bit, 4 bits, 1 byte or 2 bytes. The ob-ject types for input and output canalso be set to “unassigned”. This me-ans that the bit size can be freely assi-gned. The first internal or externalgroup address which is assigned andis already linked with another commu-nication object defines the size.
The control is always carried out frominput to output provided that this ispermitted by the control input. The ac-tivation via the control input can becarried out via an ON or an OFF tele-gram. If the setting “Control input” isset to “ON telegram” for example, onlytelegrams from the input to the outputare routed if a “1” has previously beenreceived at the control input.
For 1-bit input and output objects, itcan be set whether the input signalsshould be saved or not “During theblocking”. If the setting “Store inputsignal” is selected, the output sendsits value if a telegram has been recei-ved at the input during the blocking.
If the input and output objects are1 bit, it is possible to invert the output.An inversion element can therefore beimplemented by a gate.
It is also possible to block signals viathe “Filter function” setting. The follo-wing settings are possible: “Filter not-

hing”, “Filter ON” or “Filter OFF”. Thisfunction is e.g. only necessary if theON telegram from a sensor is of in-terest and this sensor does not have afilter function in its application pro-gram.
Time function
There are two 1-bit communicationobjects for the time function, namely"Input" and "Output".
If parameter "Staircase light function"is switched active, the time for thestaircase light is triggered via the 1-bitcommunication object "Input" after thereceipt of an ON telegram and an ONtelegram is sent out on the 1-bit com-munication object "Output". After expi-ration of the light-on time, an OFF tele-gram is sent out via the output object.
The time for the staircase light is setwith the corresponding parameter. Atime from 10 s to 99:59 min can beset.
If an ON telegram is again receivedon the input communication objectduring the staircase light delay time,the delay time can be restarted (re-triggered). If this action is required, theparameter "Retrigger" should be seton "Yes".
Also a switch-on delay can be activa-ted. This means that the staircase lighttime is started and an ON telegram issent on the output object only after theswitch-on delay time has expired.
When parameter "Staircase lightfunction" is deactivated, there is aswitch-off delay time in addition to theswitch-on delay time. This means thatwhen an ON telegram is received onthe input object, the switch-on delaytime expires first. After it has expired,an ON telegram is sent on the outputobject. If an OFF telegram is receivedon the input object, the switch-offdelay time starts. After it has expired,an OFF telegram is sent on the outputobject.
Temperature comparator
The two temperature comparator func-tions correspond to the functions ofthe DIN rail mounted logic module.
Temperature comparator 1I1O
With the function “Temperature com-parator 1I1O”, a temperature is com-pared with an internally defined tem-perature value. The function makes aninput available with a2-byte communication object. Tempe-rature telegrams which are triggeredby an KNX temperature sensor are re-ceived at this object and compared.
The value which the temperature at in-put 1 should be compared with, is de-fined in the parameter “Comparativevalue in °C”. This comparative value(input 2) can adopt values between –30 °C and +70 °C.
Application example:Monitoring of a warehouse. Foodshould be stored in the warehouse ata temperature below 12 °C. An KNXtemperature sensor is installed for thispurpose. If the storage temperatureexceeds 12 °C, a cooling unit is swit-ched on in order to keep the foodfresh.
So that telegrams are not triggered con-tinually, if the temperature values forcomparison are almost identical, it isadvisable to set a hysteresis. By default,this is set at 1.5 K. This means that if thetemperature of the comparative valuehas a value of 12 °C and the tempera-ture at the input exceeds a value of12 °C, a telegram is not immediately trig-gered at the output. It is only triggeredwhen it exceeds 12.75 °C. The outputis reset when a temperature falls below11.25 °C.
The output communication object is1 bit by default. ON or OFF telegramsare sent to this object. It is defined inthe parameters when a telegram issent. Depending on the setting “Tele-gram will be sent at”, telegrams aretriggered if an input is greater thananother input or if the result changes.A change in the result means that thevalue of the input has exceeded or fal-len below the comparative value.
In addition, it can be set whether anON telegram or an OFF telegram issent when the value exceeds or fallsbelow the comparative value.
1-byte values can also be sent to theoutput object. To do so, the parameter“Object type of the output” must be setto “1 byte”. In a similar way to the

Two temperatures can be comparedwith this function. There are two sepa-rate inputs available with 2-byte com-munication objects. Temperature tele-grams which are triggered by KNXtemperature sensors are received atthese objects and compared witheach other.
Application example:Summer/wintertime conversion in aventilation control system. An KNXtemperature sensor is installed in thesupply air and discharge air ducts. Ifthe incoming temperature is identicalto or warmer than the outgoing tempe-rature, it is possible to switch to sum-mer mode.
The output communication object is1 bit by default. ON or OFF telegramsare sent to this object. It is defined inthe parameters when a telegram issent.
