The EQIP, RCPP-EQIP, and ACEP programs provide financial and technical assis- tance to help eligible agricul- ture producers voluntarily implement conservation prac- tices to improve natural resources and agriculture pro- ductivity. A variety of prac- tices are eligible in order to address resource concerns such as water quality, grazing land health, soil erosion and health, wildlife habitat, live- stock production, and many more. Through RCPP, NRCS works with partners to implement projects that demonstrate innovative solutions to conser- vation challenges while pro- viding measurable improve- ments to resource concerns targeted in the partnership. The ACEP program conserves agricultural lands and wet- lands and their related bene- fits. Under the Agricultural Land Easements component, NRCS helps Indian tribes, state and local governments, and non-governmental organi- zations protect working agri- cultural lands and limit non- agricultural uses of the land. “The new 2018 Farm Bill allows NRCS to provide con- servation assistance to support farmers in improving econom- ic viability, soil health, water and air quality, and other natu- ral resources benefits. This new version of EQIP raises the funding cap for organic pro- ducers, enhances advance pay- ment options for historically underserved producers, and renews our commitment to assist beginning farmers,” said Daniell. “By getting EQIP applications in early, NRCS staff will have time to visit individual farms and assist in planning conservation prac- tices.” All applications received by March 13, 2020, will be con- sidered for prioritization and ranking based on fund avail- ability. Farmers should contact their local USDA Service Center to get started on eligi- bility and planning. Landowners interested in applying for EQIP funding should contact their local NRCS office at 200 US HWY 59 in Mahnomen, MN. For more information, visit www.mn.nrcs.usda.gov.
