English This week we will be writing a re-count based on the video ‘Catch

It’. You will either re-tell the story

through a narrator (3rd person) or through the eyes of the meerkats

or vulture.

Task 1: Watch the following video ‘Catch It’ either by following the link below or using a camera to scan the QR code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c88QE6yGhfM

For the first task, watch the video carefully and create a short plan on

what happens in the video. You may do this as a comic strip, bullet points or as an ‘S’ plan. You may choose to use the sheet on the

next page.

Task: Create a short character description about the meerkats. You may choose to use the sheet on the next page or list ideas or write a paragraph. EXT: Describe the vulture. Then explain/list how the characters (meerkats and vulture) are similar and different. Challenge: Write a sentence using a place fronted adverbial. This could be by editing a sentence to say where on your characters body something is.

Think: What does the character look like e.g. eyes,

body etc. How do they move? What type of character are they? What do you think they are

thinking/feeling/hoping?You may choose to draw your character in the middle.

Task 3: Watch the video on ‘Possessive Apostrophes’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNFPnVz7JB4 Task: Complete the sentences below by re-writing them with a singular possessive apostrophe. Example: Kims mum bought some sausages from the shop.Kim’s mum bought some sausage from the

shop.

Then write 3 sentences using a singular possessive apostrophe to describe what 1 meerkat owns e.g. The meerkat’s dazzling eyes. EXT: Complete the sentences below by re-writing them with a plural possessive apostrophe. Example:

The giraffes’ necks craned upwards to reach the juicy leaves.

Then write 3 sentences using a plural possessive apostrophe to describe what the meerkats own e.g. The meerkats’ dazzling eyes.

c)I went for a walk at quarter past four o’clock in the afternoon.

Now try: What time did you eat breakfast today? Can you write this using the 12 hour digital clock?

EXT: Read the times shown on the clocks and then work out the time before or after. Write your answer using the digital 24-hour clock. Use the number line method to help solve

Top Tips:

Try this with an adult Socks:

- You may choose to use old socks; they don’t have to be fluffy

- You may choose any colours. Your dog does not need to be white and brown

Stuffing: - If you don’t have stuffing

accessible, you could use; stuffing from an old cushion, tissue, cotton wool, socks, old material etc.

Eyes:- You may choose to use

beads, buttons, felt or even continuous sewing to make an eye. EXT: - Can you make a different animal using the same techniques?- Can you make your teddy look like your pet? E.g. Miss Scott has a cat called Ted, Miss Kirk has 2 dogs called Teddy and Minnie, Mr Fielding has a cat called Mia and Mrs Rigby has a house rabbit called Duggee. Perhaps we could

make one either to represent our animals or as a present for them.

Science Task:It’s always amazing when you find a crystal in an unexpected place. With an adult, have a go at making your own crystals.
