Aloha Friends and Neighbors,
Everything from road repaving, to landscaping, to clearing blighted properties and seeing a decrease in our tax bills made 2015 a great year for the residents of Portlock Road!
You may have noticed that Portlock was finally repaved. We coordinated with the City and County and the contractor to assure the impact to all our residents would be minimal and although the repaving is complete be aware that there are still some finishing touches that need to be completed.
Most of us had good news regarding our property values: Appraisals were significantly lower than the year before, which meant a lower tax bill. However, keep a close eye on your bills and letters and if you are thinking of filing a tax appeal, feel free to contact me for a recommendation for an appraiser.
We also did some landscaping renovations at the entrance to Portlock Road from Kalanianaole Highway where we removed four Manila Palms that were just too costly for us to continue to maintain, and for safety reasons, we removed the Spider Lily plants that blocked the view of oncoming traffic. Finally, we moved some rogue plants for esthetic reasons and thinned out other plantings. We are planning to repaint our Portlock sign this year and are looking for volunteers to join our painting party!
In closing, my thanks to our volunteer Board members who work for the betterment of our community throughout the year. The PCA Board of Directors addresses many concerns such as crime, beach and ocean issues, home and road safety, noise, and property blight to maintain our infrastructure and roads and enhance our property values and without the help of government agencies and the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board tackling some of these issue would not be possible.
Please pay your dues which will enable us to continue working to make Portlock Road a great place to live.
Aloha and Mahalo,
David Holzman President, Portlock Community Association

a champagne brunch at Roy’s after the run!

PCA DUES The Portlock Community Association dues are used to both support the community and to pay
for the beautification of our road. For example, this past year, your dues paid for the upkeep and
maintenance of the Portlock sign area on Kalanianaole Highway. By having an inviting
entry to our road and a beautiful clean Bay, our property values are enhanced and we
demonstrate we are a community that cares.
To avoid confusion about the timing of annual dues for our Community Association, the Board
Officers have voted to invoice for Annual Dues in January of each year for that calendar year.
Because of the tardiness of this Roader, dues for 2016 are now due. Please use the form below
and the enclosed stamped envelope to send in your dues for 2016. Your email address and
phone are needed to send you community safety information and Portlock Roader updates.
