CREATIVE WRITING CAN BE USED IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS:• As a form of therapy for children.• To detect further issues in the life of a child.• Teaches them it is okay to think outside of the box, and grow comfortable

with themselves.• It helps students to develop good writing skills.• Allows students to have a break from standard and routine school work. • Challenges them on a mental and imaginative level.

Emily Cseh
These will be listed as how creative writing helps kids both inside and outside the classroom.

CREATIVE WRITING HOW IT WORKS

• Before creative writing can effectively be used in all these different ways students must first understand how to use their imagination in writing.

• In my opinion, I think that teachers should have creative writing exercises often.

• Starting young: By the time kids are in preschool they know what a story is and they know how to make them up. As they learn and grow creative writing skills can be developed by allowing students to have a daily journal, free write for 10 minutes everyday about whatever they want, or even talk with a partner to make up a fun creative story.

Emily Cseh
The speaker will explain each bullet point talking about the importance of giving kids the opportunity to be creative. They will also list some lessons teachers can do to use this skill in the classroom. Such as: journal writing, story telling, and so on.

CREATIVE WRITINGAS A FORM OF THERAPY

• Creative writing allows children to freely express how they feel by writing about it or allowing it to be represented by something else in their story.

• It allows them to escape from whatever issues they are having and use their imagination freely.

• Therapists often use this technique as a way to detect how children are feeling about one thing or in general.

Emily Cseh
They will talk explain how it is often used in therapy for young kids.

CREATIVE WRITINGAS A WAY TO LEARN WHAT ISSUES CHILDREN ARE

DEALING WITH

• Kids who are being abused or struggling with different things in their lives will often express it in their writings by talking about a similar situation.

• Therefore it can be used in the classroom if a teacher thinks a child is having a rough time with something outside of school, have the student write a story.

Emily Cseh
Points will be made about how teachers can have kids who seem to be upset write them a story. Things will be listed that children often use to represent certain struggles in their lives. For example, if little Joey writes about how the puppy's mommy found a new daddy dog and the hates him this could easily be related to a step father or divorce situation in the childs life.

CREATIVE WRITING THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

• Many schools have extremely structured days for kids with intense work all day.

• This is not a bad thing but we cannot forget that imagination and creativity is just as important.

• For some kids, math, science, english and other core subjects are not where their full potential is.

• For all children it gives them a chance to think differently: What if the sky was purple? Why can’t people live underwater? What if we lived on a different planet?

• Creativity gives the mind an outlet while allowing for new ways of thinking.

Emily Cseh
The speaker will talk about how teachers should explain creative writing to students as thinking outside the box and then have the member at the meeting creatively write for 5 minutes and then discuss how they feel and how it was challenging.

CREATIVE THINKING GOOD WRITING SKILLS

• Studies have shown that students who keep a journal or are assigned to write on a daily basis excel in things like grammar, sentence structure, and descriptive writing.

• Creative writing can be presented to students and teachers as a fun way to practice writing skills.

• It can also be very beneficial when working on using adjectives because it is important to be descriptive in creative writing.

Emily Cseh
The speaker will talk about how creative writing is a fun way for kids to practice writing and grammar. It is not all fun and games it should be graded and used as a way to develop great writing skills for other types of writing as well.

CREATIVE WRITING GIVING KIDS A BREAK FROM STANDARD SCHOOL

WORK

• Creative writing challenges a different part of the brain • Allow them to work in groups from time to time to write stories.• Giving kids a break helps them to focus better when they return• Using creative writing as a buffer between other lessons can help to give

students time to exercise the creative side of their brain.

Emily Cseh
They will talk about how kids get so stressed out and overworked and this allows them to still work but to challenge a new part of the brain. Talk about stats that show a break or switching gears to be helpful.

CREATIVE WRITINGACCEPT THE CHALLENGE

• I challenge you all to think outside the box.• Be creative.• Use your imagination.• Express yourself.• Challenge your mind on a deeper level.• Represent aspects of your life within your story.• Write creatively in the classroom.
