THREE EPIC FAILS EXPLAINED

1. Today, Islamist rebels in the Islamic Maghreb were pushing the Tuaregs aside—and making good on their threat to impose their brand of harsh Islamic law on all of Mali(Chilson, 2013, p.7)

2. In 1960, Mali had overcome its colonial past and became a model of democracy. But actually, 60% of the country was belonging to Tuareg and islamist rebels (Page3).

3. The Tuaregs, originally from the central region of Sahara (Algeria and Libya) represent a large percentage of the population and are the descendants of the first North Africans.
