• A strategy is a plan of action or policy to achieve a goal or solution to a problem. A young child can benefit from a strategy in many ways. A strategy can help a child out in a lot of different ways. One strategy to becoming a active reader is to highlight, underline, or write information in the margins. I choose this strategy because I use this often when I read. It is very helpful because it helps me to look at the important points in the paragraph or reading. So I won't have to re-read the whole thing over again. Also, I like to write things down after highlighting or underlines the information it helps me to remember it better.

Keep rules simple and easy to understand.

Discuss rules with children and write them down.

Repeat rules often.

Keep sentences short and simple. Saying "slow

down and walk" instead of "stop running.

Catch children being good: comment on something positive about each child. Encourage like a good coach instead of a cheerleader. Teach children how to apologize. 5 BEHAVIORAL AND REWARDS METHODSFOR POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

1) To encourage a child to sleep in their own room use a sticker chart. Let them know if they sleep in their room for a week or so many days they get a reward. Such as ice cream, a new toy, and change it up as day increase and days go by.

2) When it's time for a nap or bedtime give a child time to settle down. Give them a book to look through and read to them.

3) Use a marble jar to practice rewards. If a child cleans up their toys, show that they can share, being nice to their friends put a marble in the jar. When the jar is full, they will be rewarded. If the behavior is bad a marble will be taken out.

4) Positive behavior get a positive response. If a child sits nicely, picks up toys, treats books

well, and remember to say "thank you", This is showing positive behavior. Let them know, it

will encourage more positive behavior.

5) Have the child choose what kind of reward they like. Make a chart of all the rewards that they can choose from and mark it off when the behavior is rewarded.

Reward system can change a child's behavior problems such as :

• Temper tantrums

• running in a lot

• Swearing

• talking back

• slamming doors

• yelling

• aggressive behavior

• Instead of rewards for "not hitting" reward for

• "giving gentle touches", or "keep your hands to

EACH ONE HAVE A LOT OF THE SAME STRATRGIES BUT ARE DIFFERENT IN THE WAY THE PRODUCE THEM TO THE CHILDREN AND STAFF. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT EACH OF THEM HAVE A DIFFERENT WAY TO LOOK AT THE STRATEGIY TO IMPROVE THE BEHAVIOR THAT IS MENTION OR A CHILD IS DOING.

• Many theories and concepts of educational psychology relate to this power point. Classical conditioning is a big part of behavior because a stimulus comes up in a person wants to act it out. A person wants to show that they have this anger or problem that needs to be solved. In a cognitive persective on behavioralism is how we think and process information. A child with a behavior problem they can be thinking of things that happened in their past or a problem that's going on.

In conclusion, behavior can come in many ways from children. Children can act out because of problems at home, school, even just past situations. As teachers, to try to fix a behavioral problem you have to get to the source of it. There are many strategies that teachers can take to control a negative behavior in the classroom. Thing like not wanting to share, not wanting to clean up, or even pushing another child can be controlled by these methods mentioned. A child wants to do better when they see and know better. We have to keep children motivated and alert on many issues and rules that they need to be aware of . I believe that the behavior will change and will stay positive.

• If a parent or a guardian asked about strategies on how to control a child with a behavioral problem, I will want to know what kind of behavior they are doing. I will tell parents to start off with something simple to see where a child's mind is at. Such as: the reward system. If a child has a temper tantrum, I will tell them to talk to a child to see what's going on first. Then I'll let the child know if they stop this action they will get a treat, but have restrictions when they do have a tantrums. Also, I will let parents know they are many strategies that can help with any behavior problem. I can give websites to look up or give sample printout that I can have for them. Parents can also ask for help from me and I can set up a way to help too.
