11

Since its creation in 1987, The Microwave Vision Group (MVG) has developed a unique expertise in the visualizationof electromagnetic waves. These waves are at the heart of our daily lives: Smartphones, computers, tablets, cars, trains and planes -- all these devices and vehicles would not work without them. The Group develops and marketssystems that allow for the visualization of these waves, while evaluating the characteristics of antennas, and helpingspeed up the development of products using microwave frequencies. The Group's mission is to extend this unique technology to all sectors where it will bring strong added value. Since2012, MVG is structured around 3 departments: AMS (Antenna Measurement Systems), EMC (Electro-MagneticCompatibility), EIC (Environmental & Industrial Control). MVG recently launched NeptuLink , a 4G system for highspeed internet at sea.MVG is present in 9 countries, and generates 90% of sales from exports. The Group has over 300 employees and aloyal customer base of international companies. The Group generated revenues of € 56.7 million in 2014. MVG hasreceived the BPI "Innovative Enterprise" certification, and is illegible for PEA-PME. THE BUSINESS in detail:

CHARACTERIZING ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS

About MVG The Microwave Vision Group manufactures systems for measuring electromagnetic fields. With the technology mastered through its own invention and know-how: electronic scanning sensor networks, instant, precise, highly dynamic measurements are obtainable without coupling antennas. MICROWAVE VISION is born of this technological leap, breaking with traditional technologies based on simple switches between probes. This innovation continues to give MVG the competitive edge.

Characterizing Electromagnetic Fields

Take the smartphone as an example where the antenna transmits information through the air from all sides of the device. MVG products, which operate like medical scanners, analyze and provide a picture of the electromagnetic waves radiated by this device. The aim is to measure waves distributed in all directions in space, as it is not possible to know the direction of the user in advance. Secondly, the efficiency of the device is measured, that is to say, the amount of energy radiated in relation to the amount of energy used. Thirdly, the quality of information transmitted, with tests by protocol (LTE, WiFi), is measured. To do so, data is transmitted from several directions in space, then the level of energy emissions is lowered until communication is no longer possible with the device. This measured threshold is called the sensitivity level. Finally, there is the testing of environmental functionality. This technique consists of studying the functionality of a system in a complex environment with multiple transmitting antennas and multiple receiving antennas: MIMO testing. This is an increasingly necessary technique to test with speed and accuracy today’s devices using LTE technology.
