TOPIC: MITOSIS

PROBLEM: VISUALIZING THE ABSTRACT CONCEPT OF CELL DIVISION.

STUDENTS VIEW THE TOPIC AS BORING AND DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND THE STAGES.

3. AIDS IN STUDENTS DEVELOPING PSYCHOMOTOR SKILLS AND PROFICIENT USE OF TECHNOLOGY.

4. VIDEO SHOWS THE ANIMATION OF EACH PROCESS WHICH APPEALS TO VARIOUS INTELLIGENCES AS THERE IS MOTION, SOUND, EXPLANATION AND COLOURS.5. REPEATIBILITY – SS CAN VIEW AS OFTEN WITHIN TIME FRAME, PAUSE.

2. USE OF COMPUTER TO ACCESS VIDEO AND COMPLETE GUIDED WORKSHEET.

3. DIRECTED APPROACH USED AND SINGLE SUBJECT.

4. MEDIA PLAYER

5. SCHEDULE A DOUBLE PERIOD FOR USE OF LAB BEFORE THE CLASS.

9. Students are limited to teacher’s workspace.10. In the event of power failure students can use text book as reference.

It was challenging because of lack of familiarity with technology. Lesson evolved as adjustment were made to improve the flow of

ideas. Interruption wrt connectivity Finding the finding the appropriate media for lesson and outcome. Collaboration of ideas Availability of teacher’s workspace to students.

Students will be given a worksheet of diagrams of stages of mitosis placed in random order.

Students are required to place the diagrams in correct sequences.

briefly describe the process of each stages using the diagrams.

Selected students will be asked to explain the different parts of the evaluation.
