HISTORY
• The first recorded high jump event took place in Scotland in the 19th century. Before jumping forward and also there was not pad.

• Rhichard Douglas FosburyKnown as Dick Fosbury ( March 6, 1947 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American exalted high jump specialist , who was champion at the 1968 Mexico Olympics and became famous for using a new technique to pass over the bar , which have subsequently applied both divers and is known as Fosbury Flop .

TAKE OFF- TECHNIQUE take off foot is slightly
ahead of the athlete's body
take off foot plant is an active flat down and back action
take off foot is in alignment with the take off leg
the trunk is upright and leaning slightly back
inside shoulder is high
The lead leg is bent at the knee.
hips are at 45° to the bar and the shoulders at 90°
both arms are swung forwards and upwards with the free leg
