What is Semantics?
This is a branch of linguistics that studies the relationship between words and meanings.
What is Lexical Semantics?
The Lexical semantics is a subfield of linguistic semantics that studies how and what the words of a language are denoted in a particularly context.

What is the importance of semantics and
lexical semantics? The knowledge of semantics allows us to know the meaning
that a world can has according its context.
![Page 5: Presentación semántica](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081413/5492b479b479595b4d8b4694/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
How do these branches of
linguistics work?Linguistics helps us to understand the meaning of a word according to the context where this word is located, also help us to know the different meanings a word can has for example: the word bass has several depending on the context.

PRACTICEIn the 18th century James Burnett, Lord Monboddo analyzed numerous primitive languages and deduced logical elements of the evolution of human language. His thinking was interleaved with his precursive concepts of biological evolution. Some of his early concepts have been validated and are considered correct today. In his The Sanscrit Language (1786), Sir William Jones proposed that Sanskrit and Persian had resemblances to classical Greek, Latin, Gothic, and Celtic languages. From this idea sprung the field of comparative linguistics and historical linguistics. Through the 19th century, European linguistics centered on the comparative history of the Indo-European languages, with a concern for finding their common roots and tracing their development.
