Mission/Vision Statement

“As a Christian Preschool, God is honored and introduced as the Creator of our world and Jesus as our Lord and Savior. There are monthly Christian themes taught through stories and songs and daily grace at snack or lunchtime, as well as modeling caring and kindness towards others. We hope these experiences will be naturally integrated into your child’s life. Elmwood Christian Preschool provides an environment conducive to the optimal spiritual, social, physical and intellectual development of each child. We have a curriculum that is child-centered and developmentally appropriate which incorporates daily opportunities for individual as well as group activities, quiet and active play choices, imaginative play, problem-solving skills, literature and both large and small muscle activities. We believe preschool children are active learners who learn through play. A variety of fun, hands-on learning, activities and experiences are planned according to a calendar of themes and units,”—From website

Philosophy

GCNS provides a loving, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate setting for young children. Here they may safely explore their surroundings, enhance their self-esteem and begin to build foundations for future learning. Our program affords children the opportunity to interact with peers and adjust to life outside the home. GCNS’s profession staff regards play as an important element in the program. Through play, children are given opportunities to select and use materials constructively. This provides for and supports the children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. Our goals are to enhance self-esteem, encourage positive feelings towards learning and others, and to create a successful first school experience for your child.

Christian attitudes and morals are incorporated through the celebration of holidays and visits with the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church. Teaching children to welcome different
