New STEM Class Fosters Interest in a Business-Oriented Mind Set

Parents and students are taking note of several new classes this year that are part of our new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)program with an Entrepreneurship Focus. The classes wll promote experiences with creativity, problem solving, collaboration, and ideation that willlead students to better understand their potential future roles in business and industry whether in Columbus or beyond. This program will culminatewith Entrepreneurship classes available to Juniors and Seniors giving students a cumulative set of skills essential in today’s world.

Mrs. Dawn Dawkins teaches the STEM Entrepreneurship classes. She recently invited Hagan Walker, a successful entrepreneur from Columbus andMSU, to talk to her students about the launching of his business from his initial idea to its current success. (See the photos below). Hagan is the co-founder of Vibe, producer of Glo, and recipient of the the "Innovate Mississippi New Venture Challenge.”

More information about our new STEM wing and classes will be shared throughout the year!
