    HIGH PERFORMANCE CEMENT

    CONCRETE

HPCC can be defined as concrete with

    enhanced properties such as higher

compressive, higher flexural strength, lowerpermeability, lower heat generation, greater

resistance to alkali silica reaction and greater

resistance to sulphate attack because of theaddition of admixture.

    NEED FOR THE STUDY

Drastical increase in traffic playing on the

    surface, demanding better and stronger

    pavement.

Need for exploring pavement alternatives with

    improved strength properties

    Objective

To determine the properties of ingredient of

    High performance cement concrete

To arrive at the mix proportion of HPCC

(Silica fume concrete, High volume fly ash

    concrete )

    Some special types of high

    performance cement concrete

    Silica fume concrete

    High volume fly ash concrete

Ground granulated blast furnace slag concrete

    Fiber reinforced concrete

Silica fume concrete is defined as a mix that

contains replacement of cement by Silica fume.Silica fume concrete can reach the same or greaterdesign strength as normal concrete.

    MATERIALS USED IN THE

STUDY Cement- 53grade cement conforming to IS: 12269-1987.

Fly ash - Class F fly ash used is obtained from Raichurthermal power station.

Fine aggregate- Locally available river sand is used as fine

aggregate. The properties of the fine aggregates aredetermined by conducting tests as per IS: 2386-part 3 and IS383-1970.

Coarse aggregates - Locally available crushed granitecoarse aggregates are used in this study the tests for

physical properties on coarse aggregates are conducted asper IS: 383-1970.

    Super-plasticizer- Rheo Build-816 and conplast 432sp

    DESIGN OF MIX PROPORTION

In the present study five mixes are used. ACI method of

mix design is used for arriving at the mix proportions

    for all the mixes.
