    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

    After almost a year of hard work, commitment, patience, and

    frustrations, the researchers can now appreciate the fruit of their

    labor. In spite of the fact that each of them had their own

    shortcomings to address apart from the need to fulfill the demands

    set by making the thesis, they were still able to overcome these

    tribulations and therefore, were able to set their minds and hearts

    toward a common goal; hence, the fulfillment of the research.

    This roller-coaster ride had led the researchers to shaping

    and molding themselves as persons. The ups and downs of the

    process of making this paper made them strong enough to have a firm

    stand for the things they knew were right yet humble enough to

    accept criticisms and open enough to be corrected for their mistakes.

    Nevertheless, this journey wouldn't be possible without the help

    of these great people who unconditionally gave their time and effort to

    impart to them their knowledge and expertise in making an ideal

    thesis. The following are the people who served as the foundation of

    this paper:

    To the parents of the researchers, for giving them enough

    resources, accommodations, and funds, for the general welfare and

    fulfillment of the study. Most of all, the researchers would want to

    send their deepest thanks and appreciation for their unconditional

    love;

    To MJSD, the researchers' nursing level coordinator and

    statistician for giving them his personal insights with the study. His

    organize and timely manner of doing things relative to their paper

    made the process smoother and less difficult;

    To RMP, the researchers' former adviser for imparting with

    them all of his expertise in making a good paper and for sharing with

    them all his experiences in communicating his previous researches.

    Truly, his contributions had led the paper to its success;

    To CVDR, the researchers' adviser for giving with them all his

    technical knowledge and expertise to the construction of the general

    paper and the making of the final chapters of the thesis;

    To JAAR, the researchers' NURES II professor for giving her

    prudent and constructive criticisms in light with her knowledge and

    credible experience in making a paper. Truly, her intellectual

    appraisal of the researchers' paper played a big part for them to be

    focused on the things that matter most;

    To ALPO, guidance head officer of Our Lady of Fatima

    University for giving us the permission to utilize and disseminate the

    BarOn EQi tool;

    To MVA, guidance counselor of Our Lady of Fatima University

    for patiently explaining the technicalities of the BarOn EQi tool;

    To MB, the university's pychometrist and his co-workers, for

    accommodating the researchers to their office and teaching them the

    whole process of computing for the BarOn EQi data;

    To all the other anonymous persons in the academe who helped

    the researchers in every way they could in order to accomplish the

    paper, our sweetest thanks!

    Of course, apart from the academe persons, the researchers

    wanted to extend their full and deepest gratitude to their friends,

    classmates, and former classmates who gave their scholarly insights

    relative to the construction and final touches of the whole paper.

    To VC, a friend of the principal author for sharing her

    intellectual evaluation of the paper. Her best intentions and

    constructive criticisms in terms of the grammatical organization had

    lessen the burden of the researchers;

    To PD, a friend of the principal author for giving her honest

    opinion on the lacking and dull areas of the paper. Her brutal yet

    true appraisal motivated the researchers to further the

    accomplishment of the paper;

    To MF, EJ, and A the principal author's siblings for helping the

    researchers in the agonizing process of data tallying;

    Yet, none of these things would be fulfilled without the divine

    guidance, grace, and love of the Almighty God. All of the happy

    moments and accomplishments along with the tribulations and

    frustrations that the researchers had experienced were all willed by

    Him.

    As stated in the book of Ecclesiastes, there is a time for

    everything... As true as it is, the time has come for the researchers to

    rejoice for the fulfillment of the research.

    The time has also come to give all the praises and glory back to

    Him who made everything in accordance to His will.

    To this very moment, the researchers truly believe that one of

    their purposes in life was fulfilled as to the accomplishment of the

    study.

    Abstract

    In light with determination of several variables that can

    potentially and actually affect the nurses clinical performance the

    researchers arrived at testing the impact of EQ relative to competency

    of the nurses' performance in their workplace. Moreover, for practical

    and economic reasons, the study was also conducted to determine the

    relationship of a person's EQ to their color preference. The study used

    a quantitative approach. Results were extracted from the responses of

    30 Filipino nurses in the selected tertiary hospital. Thence, the study

    quantified two different sets of variables: (1) EQ to color preference

    and (2) EQ to clinical performance. The whole endeavor arrived at a

    conclusion that EQ is not a favorable tool in determining the

    competency of nurses in their workplace. Similarly, results reveal that

    no strong evidence links the EQ to color preference. Hence, it is

    conclusive that no single factor can be a determinant of the other.
