We have this hope that burns within our hearts,

(Students listen)

Hope in the coming of the Lord.I

We have this faith that Christ alone imparts,Faith in the promise of His Word.

We believe the time is here,When the nations far and near

Shall awake, and shout, and singHallelujah! Christ is King!

IIWe are united in Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are united in His love.Love for the waiting people of the world.

People who need our Savior’s love.Soon the heavens will open wide,

Christ will come to claim His brideAll the universe will sing

Hallelujah! Christ is King!Coda:

We have this hope, this faith, and God’s great love

We are united in Christ.

Do you like the song? From the title itself, what is the song about?

Yes. The song is about believing that God will soon come again and that we just have to hope that He will surely come again to claim us.

B. Presentation

This morning, we will study a poem titled “Hope” by Czeslaw Milosz. Before that, I will read to you first the author’s biography.

(Teacher reads the author’s biography)

First Reading

Listen carefully as I read the poem because I will raise questions after.

Hope by Czeslaw Milosz

Hope is when you believe That the earth is not a dream but living fleshAnd that sight, touch, hearing do not lie.And that all things you have discovered hereAre like a garden when you approach the gate.

You cannot enter. But surely it exists,If we could only look better and more wisely

Ff

(Students listen)

We could see in the garden of the worldYet another flower and another star.

C. Intellectual Discussion

1. What is the poem all about?

2. In connection with his biography, why did he write such poem?

3. Why did the writer title the poem “Hope”?

4. How important is for a man to be hopeful?

5. Open you book to page 207. What do you see on the picture?

6. Based on the poem, what does the gate mean or symbolize?

7. What does the road symbolize?

8. What does the sun symbolize?

D. Aesthetic Discussion

1. How many stanzas are there in the poem?

2. Do the stanzas have the same number of lines?

3. How many lines are there?4. Is there rhymed words?5. Do the lines have the same number of

syllables?6. So, what kind of poem is it?7. Does the poem contain figurative

language? What are these?

The poem is all about believing that better things are bound to happen. The poem is all about hope.He wrote the poem because he wanted to remind readers to be hopeful and optimistic that despite all odds, there is still chance for a better life and peace. The writer titled the poem “Hope” because the poem speaks of being hopeful given the situation that he was oppressed and somehow his life was controlled. He seeks for peace, I think. To be hopeful that things may happen is very important because you will be encouraged and optimistic that things you believe are due to happen. Somehow, you will be directed.I see gate, road, and sun.

The gate symbolizes our problems in life that seem to drag us down and shake us while we take our journey in life. The road symbolizes our path which we take as we pursue our dreams/future.The sun symbolizes our destination in our life. There is still bright future that awaits despite the struggles we may undertake along our journey.

There are two stanzas.

The stanzas have different number of lines. The first stanzas has five lines while the second stanza has four lines. The poem has nine lines. There is no rhymed words.No. the lines have different number of syllables. The poem is a free verse.Yes. The poem contains figurative language. The line 3 is considered as personification because they are given human attribute the ability not to lie.

Second Reading

Now, I want the boys to read the first stanza, then the girls will read the second stanza.

E. Reproduction

This time, I will group you into five. I have here rolled papers written with the task that you will accomplish. Below of these papers are the criteria which will be your guide in accomplishing the task. You have 5 minutes to do it.Tasks:

The lines 4 and 5 contain a figurative language, simile. It is because the things which are discovered here are directly compared to a garden when you are at the gate.

(Students read)

V. Assignment

Read the short story “In Exile” by Anton Chekov, page 223 on you book.

My AnalysisAfter writing my first lesson plan in my cooperating school, these

are the things noted by my cooperating teacher.

BEST FEATURES

According to my resource teacher, my lesson plan is well-prepared for its

objectives are of standards, following the guidelines in formulating objectives which are

specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. The procedure as well follows

the format in the flow of poem as a subject matter. The assessment tools used were of

high appropriateness to their level. The activities were also appropriate and congruent to

their levels.

My Reflections

As a teacher, I need to prepare a lesson plan that fully observes the

congruence between the set objectives like cognitive, psychomotor and

affective to the subject matter; objective and teaching procedure/method;

objective and formative test; objective and assignment. With this, I should

have depth knowledge/mastery of the subject matter before I teach my

students for the purpose of acquiring a meaningful learning after the

discussion. I also learned that to ensure learning from our students, they

should by actively engaged at all activities we employ. Indeed, I am fully

convinced that I must fully prepare to ensure that there is learning taking

place all the time.
