Activity Ideas for Division
The next few slides have examples of activities you can do that will help you with division. You do not have to do all the tasks, pick 1 or 2 that you think will work best for you!
Have fun, from Miss Maxwell, Miss Afzal and Mrs Quinn
Fact Families
Remember there are 4 facts in every fact family. There are 2 division and 2 multiplication. Go back through all of the slides and write the fact family for each number sentence.
Example:
15 ÷ 3 = 515 ÷ 5 = 35 X 3 = 153 X 5 = 15
Make a division flower
In this example we can see the person is working on dividing by 5. You could pick any timestable you want to work on.Here we can see that 20 ÷ 5 = 4

Watch this video on using LEGO bricks to help with division.
Once you’ve done that try to teach someone in your house what you’ve learned OR make a video of your own to explain it.
Try this tasty way of dividing things. The picture below has used skittles and licorice but you could use anything you can find in you kitchen. Try sharing grapes between different plates or putting cubes of cheese equally on both pieces of bread for a lunchtime sandwich.
Just remember to ask permission before you go raiding the cupboards!!!
Go Fish for division facts
Instead of looking for matching pairs, players compete to find pairs of cards that divide evenly into one another. For instance, in the had shown in the picture above the player could put down the 2 and the 8 together as 8 divides equally Between 2 to make 4. 8 ÷ 2 = 4
Create your own division game
This could be any design you want. Why not try a board game style or perhaps a top trumps card game using division facts.
