IDEA 1 - DEVELOPING IDEAS FOR DIGIPAKS AND

HOMEPAGEEloise Smith

MY INITIAL IDEAS

For the campaign, I found this music video

the most difficult to create, because there are two juxtaposing

settings in the video, showing young adults

going out to a nightclub and anti-war

campaigners. However, I decided that it seeing

as the band was presented as the protesters, the

campaign should focus on the themes of peace

and anti-war.

MIND MAPPING OF IDEAS• I decided to mind map what I thought of when I heard the word peace, to get ideas for the digipak and the band name.

• I overall decided on the image of a stag, because they are hunted by humans, therefore reflects the images of war. By then calling the album ‘The Last Stag’, it implies that by not having peace we are killing beautiful things, until they are extinct.

THE NAME OF THE BAND• I then focused on the name of the

band. I wanted something which kept the theme of the anti-war and peace and therefore thought about war terms. The word ceasefire came to mind, because it is the main goal for all anti-war protesters, so therefore shows the main focus of the band at the heart of the campaign.

THE DIGIPAK COVER• I wanted the album cover to be simple and artist, to remain the idea that using Negas’ theory of organic vs synthetic, the band is organic.

• I also wanted the album cover to be black and white, to show how they feel it is so simple to stop war.

• I found I drawing of a stag, to show the beauty and grace of nature, that war is ruining.

• I made the font of the name childlike, to imply that children are inherently peaceful and good, therefore showing how the band want the world to be.

• I also used typewriter font for the text, to create a vintage feel to the digipak cover, because the age of the flower power was in the 1960s.

THE WEBSITE HOMEPAGE• I wanted the website to be simple, yet stylish, to avoid the danger of making the band look uncool and ‘hippie like’.

• I found a picture of a soul band (the same genre as the original artist) and thought this made would be the ideal age for look for the band.

• I added a album listening icon, so that the album is shown as the main selling point on the website and it is promoting the album.

• I also added a kids for peace video, to show the main focus of the campaign is the world peace.

• Finally, I added tour dates of the band, but at smaller venues, to show them as popular but not top hit artists, because they are not a mainstream band.
