Digipak Analysis: Background

Dirty Work is the fourth full length studio album by American pop punk band called All Time Low.

The album is the band’s major label debut and was released on the 7th June 2011.

Dirty work was met with some commercial success, debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in the United States with 45,000 first week sales.It also charted in the top 20 in Australia, The UK and Canada.

All Time Low Toured extensively throughout 2011 and 2012 in support of the album. Dirty work has sold 107,000 copies in the Us to date October 2012.

Digipak Analysis: Front CoverThere are two versions of design for their Dirty Work album cover, Blue and Red. The front cover shows all 4 band members at the center of the cover as the main image in greyscale, where as the background is in blue so that they both contrast and stands out from each other.All band members are in their suit like a businessman which they shows the meaning of their album title called ‘Dirty Work’The cover shows the main singer (Alex Gaskarth) popping champagne which is one of their song and it also shows the meaning of dirty work.Their band name ‘ALL TIME LOW’ is placed on the top of the CD cover which takes up 1/3 of the space so that it grabs audience attention. It is written in their own unique band font which symbolizes for their band, it is also written in Capital Letters so the text stands out above the band members. The color of the font is light so it contrasts from the dark toned band members.The title of the album is placed at the bottom of the CD cover in white font with a black border as background.

Digipak Analysis: Back Cover

• The background of the back cover shows a electric guitar, which is a generic instrument used by a rock band.

• The songs in the album are listed on top of the back cover in white colour, just like for the front cover, so it shows the design is sticking to the style of white font.

• The font is written in bold because capital letters will grab audience attention more effectively.

Digipak Analysis: Inside

• The design inside of the cover shows all 4 band members partying, it fits in the genre of rock because the style of rock is usually crazy and party-like.

• The album title is placed at the bottom of the inside cover in their white and bold style which grabs audience attention because they are written in capital letter and have stuck to their text style.

Digipak - Disc

The Disc Design shows a silhouette of the band members in black, it is the same image as the one on the front cover so that audience/consumers recognizes who they are. The silhouette stands out because the black contrasts out from white background.Just like a typical rock genre album design, it shows all band members on one design.The background shows a repeat title of their band name ‘All Time Low’ in blue. The font style is the same as their unique band font.
