The PowerFlex 70 can be programmed as a Volts per Hertz drive or a Sensorless Vector Drive. Auto tuning routines for Sensorless Vector setup make the start up fast and accurate. The routines can be either Calculate - Determine settings based on user input of motor data Static - interrogate the motor without spinning it Rotate - spin the motor for best data available.

The digital and analog I/O are built into the main control board. The digital I/o consists of (6) 24 VDC inputs that are fully programmable and (2) Form C output relays rated 250V AC or 30 VDC. The Analog I/O consists of both Voltage and Current inputs, a differential isolation (common not referenced to ground), and common mode noise rejection.

• Internal EMC Filtering (optional on small ratings, not available for 600V ratings) – No need for additional external EMC filtering

• Zero Stacking™ – Mount drives with zero side space between drives and save panel space

The 750-Series is the next generation of PowerFlex drives to be developed as a cost-effective solution for our customers by the “build to suit” physical characteristics, easily integrate into an architecture, and with the motor control selections and additional options, provide customers with flexibility to meet their application needs. The PowerFlex 755 is currently available at 400/480V and from .75 to 900 kW / 1… to 1350 horse power in frame sizes 2-9. 600V AC is available: 600V AC: 250…1100 Hp 690V AC: 200…1000 kW The latest edition to this series the PowerFlex frame 9, offers added capabilities and features for high power applications. The PowerFlex 753 and is available at 400/480V and from 1 to 350 Horse power, bringing this series down to one horse power, in frame sizes 2-7 This series offers a number of options for communications, Safety, feedback, I/O and auxiliary power so that you can help your customers select which drive will fit their needs best.

The option cards that you have been using with the PowerFlex 755 are common to the 750-Series, with a few exceptions, all the option cards can be used in either drive. This is big benefit to our customers who can reduce inventory and spare parts.

What you need to know about the Assisted Start up This is the same routine that you’ve been using with the PowerFlex 755, has been improved to make it easier to configure your drive The wizard steps you through configuration of your drive on initial startup. This includes questions to help narrow down the configurations required for your application, prompts you for motor data and to configure your feed back and I/O. The HIM includes an auto tune procedure and a manual for reference. The set up will stay in the drive unless it is reset to default

• Available in RSLogix 5000 v20 release (Dec 2012) for PowerFlex 755 drives

So the last two slides, gave you the overview on both of the drives. Because there are such minor subtleties in this series, we have put together this comparison chart that you will be seeing in many places. As you can see and what we’ve just covered, the PowerFlex 753 is from 1 to 350 horsepower where the 755 is currently at 10 to 350 horsepower. Just a brief note that the 755 will be available down to 1 horsepower in the spring of 2010, in frame 2 Both drives offer: Predictive diagnostics Safe Torque-Off and Safe Speed Monitor Assisted Start-up, the PowerFlex 750 HIM, and are configurable via existing PowerFlex drive software along with RSLogix 5000 They both have ROHS compliant materials and come with conformal coating Now here’s where you start to see some differences which we will be explaining in further detail There’s a difference in the number of DeviceLogix function blocks until Spring 2010 Options slots that we have already discussed, 3 on the 753 vs. 5 on the PowerFlex 755 The PowerFlex 755 comes standard with an embedded Ethernet port And the PowerFlex 753 comes standard with I/O where as the 755 comes with only 1 digital input

More differences between the two drives, The PowerFlex 755 can be used with servo motors and offers more control for positioning applications. Because of these difference there PF 753 has fewer options for feedback. Both drives can be configured with RSLogix 5000 and add-on-profiles and in the future the PowerFlex 755 will have CIP motion support Then finally as we have already mentioned each of these drives offers different application sets Now we’re going to start reviewing some of the things you need to know, details on features and options that are common between the drives and to show you more on the differences that we just breezed over.

Conformal coating can help maintain the reliability of a drive in harsh environments, like aggressive gases, humidity and contamination A printed circuit board (PCB) with conformal coating protects components with micro lead spacings which are otherwise vulnerable to dust and moisture build up. Without coating, unintentional conductive paths can be formed, leading to circuit failure. While this approach provides more protection than an uncoated PCB, other factors must be considered in the overall application of a drive.
