    The Expert Committee submitted the report in August06.

    India needs to sustain 8-10% growth rate over the next 25

    years for eradicating poverty and meeting its humandevelopment goals.

    This would require, at least, enhancing primary energy

    supply by 3-4 times and the electricity supply by 5 times ,of2003-04 level.

    Power generation capacity would need be in the order of8,00,000 MW in year 2031-32 from the current installed

    capacity of about 1,39,000 MW.
