Occupational Science: Component oneOccupational Identity & Occupational Satisfaction
FamilySpending time with my family has helped shape my occupational identity as they have all supported me in one way or another since birth and have contributed in who I am today. I not only grew up with my two sisters and one brother, but have also grown up with my extended family very closely. It is through my families close bond I have a sense of belonging.
SisterSpending time with my siblings and being a sister has shaped my occupational identity in the way that they have taught, shared and experienced things along by my side. They have helped me grow into a young women and assist with do, be, become and belong.
HikingThrough the leisure activity of hiking I have learnt a lot about how to push myself physically and mentally. I am able to spend more quality time with my sister and enjoy nature at its best which gives a sense of belonging and identity through exploring my beautiful country.
Surf Life Saving
Surf life saving has been a leisure activity I have participated in for a long time. It is through patrolling, instructing and training with my team members that gives me my occupational identity and my sense of belonging to this community. Through surf life saving I have been through the process of do, be and become and I now belong for a lifetime.
Wake Boarding/Biscuting
Through wake boarding my occupational identity is shown as this has been a big part of my life. I have been wake boarding and biscuting ever since I was little. This is an occupation I share with my family which brings a sense of belonging.
Work Through the occupation of working, this helps form who I am. Being able to work amongst such a supportive team gives me a sense of community and allows me to belong to my work place.
Friends Friendships and socialising have helped form my occupational identity. Through my friends we share interests such as studying, sports traveling and exercising.
Cross- Fit Through cross-fit this shapes who I am. I am part of a team and a community. I also gain occupational satisfaction and I tend to keep participating in this occupation.
StudentBeing a student is relevant to my occupational identity at this stage in my life. This is because I am currently studying to become an occupational therapist.
Farming
Farming is an occupation I have grown up with since birth. Farming is apart of my occupational identity as I have had a lot of experience that has allowed me to learn and grow. Farming allows for do, be, become and belong.
