ABOUT THE MARKETING & EVENTS BRANCH

The purpose of the Marketing & Events branch is

to provide leadership, strategic direction and

expert advice on best practice marketing and event

management to support Council’s corporate

priorities and the strategic vision for the City of

Logan.

To positively influence perceptions of the city as an

attractive location to visit, live and invest through

professional, creative and strategically aligned

brand marketing, services marketing and major

events.

Branch Management

To provide overall management to the branch in

respect to the areas of financial direction, customer

service, leadership, culture and service delivery.

Events

To imagine, create, develop and deliver

exceptional events that achieve a broad spectrum

of objectives and in doing so drive enthusiasm and

energy for the attributes and possibilities that the

city has to offer in line with the City Image

Strategy.

Marketing

To work collaboratively with internal customers and

the community to create and deliver marketing,

design and digital marketing services that support

Council’s priorities.

REPORTS TO:

Events Program Leader

JOB PURPOSE

To effectively administer the City's Festivals and Events Grants Program which supports initiatives and projects that build the

social, cultural, environmental and economic life of the city. Through this program the City partners with the community and

business to further the actions, strategic directions and vision of Logan City Council through community events.

EXTENT OF AUTHORITY

The officer functions in an autonomous capacity within defined guidelines, policies and procedures and is able to achieve

outcomes with limited direction from the Program Leader.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Lead the coordinated delivery of Council's outgoing sponsorship and community grants program including sponsorship application assessments, approvals, reviews, reporting and general administration of the online grants management system. Promote and identify appropriate community led event projects which may be eligible for financial assistance and look for capacity building opportunities for community leaders. Assist with the delivery of (or aspects of) the operational and logistical requirements of the community events to ensure they follow best practice event delivery and achieve positive outcomes on behalf of the community. Lead engagement with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure receipt of timely applications, information and event project plans to identify hazards, issues or areas for troubleshooting. Identify, explore and seize innovative opportunities for process improvements that enhance our customer service.

Performance Criteria

• Your performance against these responsibilities will be assessed by obtaining feedback from members of the community who lodge applications and deliver events through the community grants program as well as internal stakeholders who assisting in delivering specific components.

• Examples of accurate development and delivery of the outgoing sponsorship and community grants program from application through to event delivery will be tested and reviewed regularly.

• Proactive contribution to the delivery of community led events which harness the attributes of the city and are tested against the Corporate Plan 2017/2022 and overall vision for the city.

COMMUNICATION

Display engaging interpersonal skills to communicate complex concepts in plain language to customers and build collaborative

and respectful relationships with the general public and a wide range of stakeholders.

Negotiate with stakeholders in a clear and effective manner to encourage their adoption of best practice event delivery

standards.

Build and maintain respectful professional relationships with key stakeholders across the community. Maintain clear and factual records that can contribute to the effective administration, deliberation, reporting and event delivery outcomes. Maintain timely and effective communication with applicants and internal delivery partners.

Performance Criteria

• Your performance against these responsibilities will be assessed by obtaining feedback from stakeholders on the standard of your interpersonal communication and feedback from the Program Leader on the quality of your written communication and record keeping.

GENERAL

The Council Leadership and Performance Capability Framework is used for managing and supporting performance and

development.

The appointed officer may have to undertake any other duties that are reasonably within scope of their skills, competence and

training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience in the coordinated delivery of outgoing Festival and Events Grants Programs including grant

assessments, approvals, reviews, reporting and general administration of the online grants management system -

SmartyGrants.

Demonstrated experience in managing a high volume of work, have an excellent attention to detail and the demonstrated ability

to effectively work with a large number of internal and external stakeholders.

You will hold relevant degree level qualifications or have significant experience in the administration, coordination, promotion,

reporting and evaluation of grant programs in a Local Government framework.

An understanding of contemporary issues, trends and strategies in the provision of grants administration, analysis and reporting

is also beneficial.

Demonstrated problem solving skills and with a focus on innovation and creative thinking.

SUCCESS PROFILE

To succeed in this role you need to have experience in:

Engagement – delivering quality customer service as a technical expert who can translate relevant information into simple concepts to facilitate customer understanding and manage expectations; building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; and providing professional representation on behalf of Council at community led and Council sponsored events.

Customer Service – engaging, advocating and negotiating with members of the public, internal and external stakeholders; delivering excellent customer service to individuals and businesses; building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; and ensuring ethical and professional representation of Council at development and construction sites.

REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence.

The position may be required to work outside of standard core business hours as required determined by the Events and

Sponsored Events Calendar.

REVIEW

This position description was reviewed in May 2020 and may be reviewed again as Council’s organisation is developed or re-

structured. Any future re-organisation of duties as a result of such changes will be discussed with the incumbent officer.
