  • Who Am I Moodboard. This moodboard was created to show more about me as a person. The top right hand corner on the board explains the meaning towards each picture selected to be on the moodboard.

  • Initial Sketches

I started off with sketches and various ideas to try and figure out how my logo will look best. I wanted to include my initials as I think this looks professional. I firstly thought of KT which is how people spell my name Katie on social media. I liked this idea as it linked in with abbreviations and the internet and most of my work is done online. However I felt some people may not understand initially that it spells Katie instead of being my initials. I then began to try my initials KV and just K to see what I thought looked most effective. I then started to design patterns around the letter K.

  • I wanted my designs to show circles and swirls as I think it is more feminine than squares and sharp edged shapes. I worked on my logo between the two adobe programmes Illustrator and then putting them into Photoshop to manipulate and change the

    colour.

I decided to chose a font that was clear, easy to read and was quite rounded. I used DaFont to help give me a wider range of fonts to chose from.

  • I liked the idea of my K initial being the centre of my motif. Id made the K bigger so that it is bold and will stand out. I felt the pentagon was too manly and the K didnt stand out as well. I chose navy over the purple as I felt purple was not professional enough.

I decided on the colours navy and white as I feel they give a professional, simplistic, sophisticated look.

I wanted a K to represent Katie Veal and the swirl around the outside is similar to the @ sign which people associated with businesses. I wanted to create a clean logo which was

    easily recognisable.

  • I will take my self promotion pack to job interviews to leave with possible future employers. Within my promotion pack, I have created an envelope, business card, visual CV, cover letter, online portfolio

screen and a note pad to show the uses of my logo.

  • I choose to have a water coloured background using whites and navy to tie in with the colour choice of my logo and business card. I wanted this background as when I was researching business cards I saw this type of pattern but the business card had been cut out. I then decided to design my own pattern that was not cut out, using my self-promotion themed colours.

  • I wanted to demonstrate my skills within my design but also keep it simplistic. I chose to create the water colour cloud effect as I felt it would not be distracting from the logo and was effective but still quite plain. The main two colour schemes for my self promotion are white and dark navy. I want to come across to future employers as sophisticated. I designed by business card by using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • My Cover Letter is directed at replying to an internship.

  • My moving manifesto shows research in a creative way. I recorded how many times I look at my phone through my thumb touching the home button. I recorded this using thumb prints every time I touched my home button on my phone. To visually represent this, I drew images showing where I used my phone at the times I specified in my recordings.

  • This is our very first brainstorm when thinking of a concept for the photo shoot. We picked up on references from London, lectures ad current videos we had watched.

We started out with three initial concepts and we really liked the androgyny one. However we completely changed our initial ideas because of an article in the i-D magazines beauty edition as we felt our ideas were not as strong as they could have been.

  • New Concept

The new concept was based around not defining your beauty by the amount of likes people receive on their pictures on social media. We wanted a range of different people to be our models to prove that everyone has insecurities even on social media it looks like they do not.

  • What is beauty? Beauty is not defined by the amount of likes on your photo. This is the concept we tried to portray through our photo-shoot. We based the photo-shoot around the social media site Instagram. On the models faces we used hashtags to represent some peoples insecurities, instead of hash tagging the usual words which people use when uploading a photo to Instagram. Everyone has insecurities no matter how beautiful their photo, no one is perfect. We used a hand made cardboard frame to represent the Instagram photo. For the background of the shoot we hand wrote the usual hashtags which would appear on peoples day-to-day photos. The shoot went very well considering the amount of models we used but the test shots defiantly helped as we knew what models were modelling what pose. When editing the picture we wanted to capture natural beauty so only edited our images slightly. The first two images from the top left were the one chosen for our exhibition. We chose these two as we felt these were the strongest poses for our audience to understand our concept clearly.

  • This project revolves around retail theatre and the curation of space. The brand I was given for this brief is Mulberry. Mulberry is based around heritage, luxury and quality.

I chose to work from the theme Surrealism which lead me to the ideas of projection. I used the images around the outside of the page as influences as to what I would like my shop window to look like. I plan to use the neutral colours in which the brand already use such as greens, cream, browns. I intend to have the door frames lit up in these colours. At the top there will be mirrors and spot lights in shapes of leaves. Where the items will be on the shelf or hanging from a wire in the display, I play to have various projections of nature appearing

    in a triangle shape.

  • Industry professionals Lord Whitney came to our seminars for a week. The task was to create a photo shoot from scrap materials around the words bucket and space. We brainstormed words around bucket and came up with upside-down buckets as stilts. This led us to the idea of the circus. They then gave us another idea of space. We used the word space to create our idea of a futuristic circus. We created our photo shoot by adding accessory products to the circus in which we created. The circus is based in the on top of the moon, we painted the sky background and created a moon.
