    An Adventure Begins

The game begins with an introduction to Pokemon fromProfessor Rowan. He gladly clears up any questions youhave about Pokemon and forces you to push open a

PokeBall on your touch screen, revealing a Munchlax. As always, you are asked to choose your gender (for thiswalkthrough, the boy is chosen), pick a name, andchoose your rival's name (which is just Rival from nowon). Soon after, you are shrunken into the world ofPokemon in the Sinnoh region and placed into yourroom, where it all begins...

In the beginning, you watch a television program on the Red Gyarados. In Platinum, Rival comesup and talks to you for a while. Explore your small room while you're still here -- this adventurewill take you away from home for a very long time. Go downstairs and you see your mother,

who tells you that Rival wants to see you. As always, walk out of your house and see yourbeautiful, little town -- Twinleaf Town. Your house is at the bottom-right corner and Rival'shouse is at the top-left corner. As you try to enter his house, he'll come out in a hurry and quicklygo back in. Follow him up to his second floor. He tells you he's going to the lake, but doesn'tspecify his reasons. Interested, you try following him and meet him yet again at the entrance ofRoute 201. It turns out that he had also watched the show on Red Gyarados and wants to find it.

In Platinum, the two of you bump into Professor Rowan. Tell him you truly love Pokemon twice.Afterwards, Dawn, the girl character (the boy character if you chose to be the girl) joins the threeof you, bringing with her a briefcase from which you choose your first Pokemon!

    Red Gyarados in the Lake?

You'll lead the way to Lake Verity by goingthroughVerity Lakefront, west of Route 201. Rival willfollow closely behind you. Entering Lake Verity, you'llfind Professor Rowan and his assistant, Dawn, having aconversation by the lake. They go away soon, leavingbehind a suitcase, which you and Rival curiously try toexamine. Before you can do that, however, two wild birdPokemon, Starly, come over to attack the two of you.Luckily, you discover three PokeBalls in the suitcase.

This is where you choose your starting Pokemon, sochoose wisely! The PokeBalls contain the followingthree Diamond/Pearl starters:

    Choose Your Pokemon

    #387: Turtwig (Grass)

    #390: Chimchar (Fire)

    #393: Piplup (Water)

Any Pokemon is a good choice -- at least you have oneto defend yourself in this frantic situation! Luckily, theseare only lv. 2 Starly, which you can easily defeat withyour newly owned Pokemon (although it's not reallyyours yet). After your first Pokemon battle, yourPokemon will have gained its first bit of experience. Itturns out that Rival had chosen one of the other starters

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    3/59

that has a type advantage over yours. For example, if you chose Turtwig, then Rival choseChimchar.

At this point, Dawn comes over, seemingly very nervous that she had forgotten about thesuitcase and that you and Rival have already used the Pokemon inside. She'll quickly leave with

the suitcase and the two of you must also go back. On your way back, you'll see ProfessorRowan and Dawn again. Professor Rowan seems a bit upset.

In Pearl, this entire sequence involving going to Lake Verity is deferred (see below). Afterselecting your Pokemon from the briefcase, Professor Rowan and Dawn will go away, leavingyou and Rival for your first Pokemon battles! After this battle, your new Pokemon will likelylevel up to level 6.

Afterwards, you are back inside your house, talking toyour mom about the exciting little journey you had justgone through. She'll tell you to visit Professor Rowan in

Sandgem Town and will give you a pair ofRunningShoes to make your journey easier. You can now run byholding down the "B" button while moving around onthe directional pad! So, exit your hometown once again, going north on Route 201.

In Platinum, you and Rival will go to Lake Verity at thispoint. A mysterious Cyrus is seen talking to himself.

Rival tries to talk you into trying to catch the legendary Pokemon he's so excited about, butrealizes neither of you have PokeBalls. Without being able to do much more here, it's time tovisit Professor Rowan.

    Route 201

There isn't much on Route 201 except for a lot of wild Pokemon. There is, however, a girl youcan talk to on the way who'll give you a Potion. You'll notice that your Pack is neatly dividedinto Items, Medicine, PokeBalls, TMs & HMs, Berries, Mail, Battle Items, and Key Items. Youcan take your time now to begin training your Pokemon. Remember, you can always heal yourPokemon by going back to your house and talking to your mom.

Keep on walking north and you'll arrive at Sandgem Town.

    Visiting the Professor

Upon arriving at Sandgem Town, Dawn greets you andtakes you to the Professor's lab, which is right near theentrance. Apparently, Rival got there before you; hecomes out of the lab and leaves. Inside the lab, ProfessorRowan talks to you for a bit and gives you the Pokemon

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    4/59

you chose earlier. In addition, he gives you the incredible and exciting task of journeyingthrough the Sinnoh region and recording all the Pokemon you encounter on your new Pokedex.

After leaving the lab, Dawn will give you a tour around town. In Platinum, she'll give you TM27 - Return. Now you're almost free to go wherever you want, except you must pay your mom a

final visit before setting off on your journey. Before that, however, you should heal yourPokemon at the Pokemon Center and stock up on items at the Pokemon Mart. Go directly southto Route 219/Sandgem Beach to pick up an itemball containing an Antidote. After that, youshould head back to Twinleaf Town.

    Goodbye Twinleaf Town!

Back home, your mom is excited to hear that you'll be taking on the great task Professor Rowanhad handed to you. She gives you a Journal used for recording your daily events. Rival's momthen comes in and asks you to give a Parcel to Rival, and tells you he's probably gone to JubilifeCity. Now it's time to leave your home and begin your journey!

    Route 202

You'll arrive on Route 202 by going north of SandgemTown. There, Dawn will show you how to catchPokemon and give you five PokeBalls. What's moreexciting is that you'll be battling other trainers for thefirst time here. There is a Potion for you to pick up in thenorthern end of Route 202. Very soon, you'll arrive atJubilife City.

    City of Joy

Once you arrive at Jubilife City, Dawn, expectedly, willtalk to you. In Platinum, the two of you will bump into amysterious Shady man who introduces himself as the"globe-trotting elite of the International Police", aka

Looker. He'll give you a Vs. Recorder, used forrecording matches. Dawn tells you that Rival is at theTrainers' School. This is located right across from thePokemon Center. There, Rival is memorizing notes fromthe blackboard. Give him the Parcel, which turns out tobe two Town Maps. He'll you one of the maps and willhead off to Oreburgh City. There are two

trainers/students on the blue mat; you should battle them to gain some more experience. After

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    5/59

defeating them, the boy will give you TM 10 - Hidden Power, the very move their Abra used onyou. In Pearl, you'll just get a Potion.

If you leave and try to go north, a man will approach youand ask you to find three clowns to obtain a Pokemon

Watch, orPoketch. One of them is directly behind thePokemon Center; he'll ask you a simple question and ifyou answer it correctly, he'll award you with a Couponused to obtain yourPoketch. By the way, the answer toall the questions is "Yes". The first clown is to the rightof the Poketch man. The other clown is located acrossthe condos, at the entrance of the Jubilife TV Station. The final clown is a little to the west, standing outsidethe Poketch Company. Now that you have all threeCoupons, the man who approached you earlier will giveyou the Poketch. You can find out detailed information

about all the features of the Poketch by checking out thePoketch Guide. Go north, and you'll see the JubilifeCondominiums. Inside, a lady will give you QuickClaw.

Now go to the station past the Poketch Company and talkto the Fisherman inside for an Old Rod. After that, go allthe way east. You may want to explore a bit of Route204 by going north. You can pick up a Parlyz Heal near the pond and also an Antidote inRavaged Path (the cave). However, you won't be able to go any further than that for now. Goeast from Jubilife City to get onto Route 203.

    Route 203

You'll battle Rival for the first time (second time inPlatinum) on Route 203, so be prepared. He uses a lv. 7Starly and a lv. 9 Piplup (should actually be whateverPokemon that has a type advantage over you, but for thepurposes of this walkthrough, assume he picked theWater-type starter). After this battle, keep on going east.On the way, you'll battle trainers, and pick up a

PokeBall and a Repel. Route 203 ends at OreburghGate. At the cave's entrance, a man will give you HM 6 -Rock Smash. However, you won't be able to use it untilyou get your first badge. Continue through the cave,

battling the two trainers, and come out the other side. You are now at Oreburgh City.

Oreburgh City is where you'll receive your first Gymbadge. Once you enter, a trainer takes you over to thegym. Of course, Rival is already there. However, he tellsyou that the Gym Leader has gone to Oreburgh Mine. Onthe second floor of the first building, a person will give

you a Dusk Ball. Also, on the second floor of thebuilding furthest to the east, another person will give youa Great Ball. Yet again, on the second floor of thebuilding next to the PokeMart, you can obtain a HealBall if you show the Hiker a Zubat. Now that you'vegotten all the items to keep you happy for a while, go

    south into the Oreburgh Mine.

    Oreburgh Mine

At the entrance of Oreburgh Mine, you can pick up a X Defend, or a PokeBall in Platinum. As

you go deeper, you'll see workers and their Machop. You'll find a Potion to the right. Talk to theperson who looks different from everyone else. That's the Gym Leader. He'll demonstrate animpressive Rock Smash and then leave. At the far left, you'll find an Escape Rope. Now it's timeto go to the gym to fight for your first gym badge!

    Rock-Solid Gym

The view inside the gym is much more three-dimensional than the rest of the world. You only need tobattle two Youngsters before reaching the Gym Leader,Roark (you can avoid the second Youngster by using the

stairs). Roark uses a lv. 12 Geodude, a lv. 12 Onix, and alv. 14 Cranidos. They are all Rock-type Pokemon andare very weak against Water and Grass-type moves. Ifyou chose a Turtwig or Piplup as your starter Pokemon, this battle will be fairly easy if you've raised themenough to learn Razor Leaf and Bubble. To make it eveneasier you could catch a Budew on Route 204. If you

chose Chimchar, you can capture a Budew or a Machop on Route 207. Using Chimchar may bemore difficult, unless it knows Mach Punch, which is super effective against Roark's RockPokemon.

After defeating Roark, he awards you a Coal Badge. This badge allows your Pokemon to useRock Smash to smash rocks. Additionally, he gives you TM76 - Stealth Rock. Now that you'veearned your first badge, first go north to Route 207. Go all the way north through the large patchof tall grass to pick up a PokeBall. Another hidden PokeBall can be found in the empty space onthe right. You won't be able to go any further, since you need a Bike to go up the slippery slope.Go all the way west towards Oreburgh Gate. Rival will stop you. He's planning to get to EternaCity through Jubilife City. If you want to do the same, you must go through Oreburgh Gate.

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    7/59

    Oreburgh Gate

Now that you can use Rock Smash, go north in OreburghGate and go down the stairs. By smashing many morerocks, you will be able to pick up a Stardust (Big Pearl

in Platinum) and TM70 - Flash. After learning Surf, you'll be able to explore more of Oreburgh Gate. Surfwest and pick up TM31 - Brickbreakat the north. Ifyou keep surfing west, you'll get onto land and battle aVeteran. At this point, if you can use Strength, you'll beable to pick up an Earth Plate as well as TM01 - FocusPunch. Now go all the way back to Jubilife City andhead north.

    Team Galactic

Go towards the north and you'll bump into ProfessorRowan and Dawn. They are confronted by two TeamGalactic members. You and Dawn then team up to battlethe Galactic Grunts. Defeating them shouldn't be toohard at this point. After their defeat, Professor Rowantells you that Team Galactic is trying to harness theenergy released through Pokemon evolution. After that, the two leave, and a staff member from Jubilife TV willgive you a Fashion Case for your amazing battle.

Next, you should check out Jubilife TV. On the firstfloor, you can battle a Reporter with a rather high level Pokemon. On the second floor, a manwill give you a Maskof your starter Pokemon. Go into the dressing room on the left and talk tothe man standing at the door to dress up one of your Pokemon. Afterwards, its picture is framedon the wall. Now, head north towards Route 204.

    Route 204

After learning Surf, you can surf across the pond on the left side for a Sea Incense. You can getan HP Up by surfing across the pond on the right side. As part of Route 204, you'll enter a cave

called Ravaged Path, which you may have encountered earlier. Smash the rock on the left side toobtain TM39 - Rock Tomb. Also after learning surf, you can surf north to pick up TM03 -Water Pulse and a Luck Incense. Next, smash the rock on the right side and exit the cave.Follow the path provided and you should be able to move along just fine. Pick up theAwakening next to the first trainer and TM09 - Bullet Seed past the Twins. After learning Cut,you can cut down the tree east of the Twins and talk to the person inside forTM78 - Captivate. Then you'll arrive at Floaroma Town.

    Town of Flowers

    Floaroma Town is a beautiful little place filled withcolorful flowers and a lot of items to pick up. You'll seetwo Team Galactic members standing between trees;

we'll worry about them later. A little girl in the smallhouse north of the Pokemon Center will give you TM88- Pluck. Next to that house is a flower shop. Outside, you can pick up an Oran Berry and a Cheri Berry.Inside the shop, the lady on the left will give you aSprayduckto waterBerries that you grow. The lady onthe right will give you a different Berry every day. Thelady at the top will trade you Accessories for your

Berries. Now that you've done all that there is to do at Floaroma Town, go east onto Route 205.

    Route 205

There are two Berries for you to pluck right away: Chesto Berry and Pecha Berry. Then, you'llbump into a little girl asking you to help her father, who is held at Valley Windworks by TeamGalactic. So, head east to Valley Windworks. You can pick up a Potion outside the building. After learning Surf, you can surf behind Valley Windworks to pick up TM24 - Thunderbolt.Battle the Galactic Grunt blocking the entrance to the building. Afterwards, he'll lock himselfinside the building with a Works Key, and tell you that his pals in Floaroma Town have theother key. Go back into the northwest section of town in the flower patch and go in between thetrees, where the two Team Galactic members were standing before.

    Floaroma Meadow

You'll enter Floaroma Meadow, where you'll find twoGalactic Grunts threatening a man forHoney. They then

    9/59

battle you one by one. The man you rescued will give you the Works Key they dropped and alsoHoney, which is used to attract Pokemon from a sweet-smelling tree. An example of a tree likethis can be found next to the house if you go east. With your key, go back to Valley Windworks.

    Valley Windworks

Inside the building, you'll fight through a few GalaticGrunts (all of which you can avoid one way or another).Approach the red-haired woman, Mars. She is one of thecommanders of Team Galactic and will battle you. Afterthe battle, Team Galactic will leave, and the little girl'sfather walks over to thank you.

Now that you've gotten rid of Team Galatic for themoment, head west onto Route 205 and cross the bridge.

As you walk north and battle trainers, you'll pick up a XAttack, a PokeBall, and two Berries. Before you get tothe Berries, you can find a hidden Antidote in the center of the tiny raised platform. After that, you'll pick up a Repel and a Super Potion. The lady inside the little red house can heal yourPokemon. Keep on going north, and you'll enter Eterna Forest.

    Fuego Ironworks

After learning Surf, you can surf north-west from Route205 to get to Fuego Ironworks. There a building with a

bunch ofBerries outside. Inside the building are a bunchof switches that propel you around, trainers (Workers, actually), and items. The switches will send you spinningin the direction they're pointing to. You'll be able to pickup a Burn Heal, a Fire Stone (at the north-east corner),and a Rock Incense. At the center of the building is Mr.Fuego, who'll give you anotherFire Stone. Next to himis TM35 - Flamethrower.

    Eterna Forest

After learning Cut, you can skip the forest by taking thepath on the right side of the entrance. Go north, cut thetree, and talk to the girl you see. She'll give you a BigTree Accessory. There are also plenty ofBerries to picknorth of the girl. You'll be able to pick up TM82 - Sleep

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    10/59

Talkand SilverPowder south of the girl. Keep on going in the north-east direction to come outthe other side of the forest.

Upon entering the forest, a girl named Cheryl will ask to walk with you due to fear of TeamGalatic. As you battle trainers in Eterna Forest, she'll battle alongside you, using a lv. 15

Chansey. Her Chansey heals your Pokemon after every battle. First, go west a bit to pick up anAntidote, which you'll probably need in a forest filled with Bug and Poison type Pokemon. Goback to where you started and head north. You'll have a double battle with a Bug Catcher and aLass. Pick up the Parlyz Heal and you'll have another double battle with Psychics by goingsouth. You'll find a Great Ball at the end. Go all the way east and pick up a Potion. Go all theway north. Along the way, you'll find a Honey that's covered by the tall grass. In Platinum,Cheryl gives you a Soothe Bell at the end for walking with her.

After learning Cut, you can cut the tree and explore the Old Chateau. Beside the creepy lookinghouse is an Ether. After entering this haunted mansion, go straight into the door under thestaircase. The trash can in the left room contains an Antidote. Go back and go up the stairs and

go into the room on the left to pick up an Old Gateau. Now go through the center door, whichleads you to a long hallway of rooms. The first room contains a Dead Plate and the last roomcontains TM90 - Substitute.

Get out the mansion and go east a bit to exit the forest.

    Almost There...

After exiting Eterna Forest, you'll continue your journey on Route 205. There are plenty ofBerries to pick up behind the pond and a hidden Honey in the empty square next to them. Gosouth past the bridge with all the Fishermen to pick up a Potion, or a Guard Spec. in Platinum.

Finally, you'll arrive at Eterna City!

    History Living

There are plenty of things to do in Eterna City beforeyour second gym battle. First, go north a bit. In Platinum,Rival will take you to see a Pokemon statue. A girlnamed Cynthia will then give you HM01 - Cut. Asusual, you won't be able to use this until you get thebadge in this city. There's a Herb Shop right around thecorner that offers herbs that restore a Pokemon's

condition at the cost of making them unhappy. Next, stopby the Pokemon Center and talk to the girl for aFriendship Checker, an application for yourPoketchthat identifies Pokemon that like you. Talk to the oldman in the house next to the Pokemon Center for anExplorer Kit, which can instantly take you to the SinnohUnderground. You can try it out right now, and you'llend up in a place that looks like what you see to the left.

In the Eterna Condominiums next to the Pokemon Mart, you can change your Pokemon's namewith the help of the Name Rater (the old man on the first floor). The little kid on the same floorwill trade you a Chatot for a Buizel. An old lady on the second floor will give you TM67 -Recycle. Now check out the gym at the southern end of the city. Before you go inside, you mightwant to pick up a Super Potion behind the gym.

    Mowing the Lawn

This is a Grass-type gym. Before battling the GymLeader, you'll have to find four trainers and battle them.Once you're within the maze of trees, go all the waynorth and go south a bit. One of the trainers is hidingright behind a tree. After battling, that trainer will tellyou where to find the second trainer. You can reach thesecond trainer by going all the way south past the twoboulders. Next, you'll find the third trainer near the

entrance, behind the three small trees. The final trainer isall the way at the north-east corner, standing beside fourflowers. In Platinum, there is a large clock in the centerof the gym, whose hands you simply walk across to get to the next trainer.

After you've defeated all four trainers, the Gym Leader, Gardenia, will appear on the greenplatform at the north end of the gym. She uses a lv. 19 Cherubi, a lv. 19 Turtwig (lv. 20 inPlatinum), and a lv. 22 Roserade. In Platinum, she has a lv. 20 Turtwig, a lv. 20 Cherrim, and alv. 22 Roserade. A Fire-type Pokemon should easily take care of Gardenia's Pokemon. Anothergood strategy is having a Kricketune and a Staravia. You should already have your starterevolved and all your Pokemon at lv. 16+. If you chose Piplup, you can use Peck. Using

Kricketune, you can use Fury Cutter. For Staravia, you can use Wing Attack. To finish Roserade, you can use a Kadabra, and use Confusion. Gardenia awards you the Forest Badge after herdefeat, which allows you to use Cut outside of battle and allows traded Pokemon up to lv. 30 toobey you. She'll also give you TM86 - Grass Knot.

    Grunt-Fighting

Now, go all the way to the north end of Eterna City todisrupt Team Galactic's evil plans. Cut the tree to getinto the Team Galactic Eterna Building. Before you do,you can Cut another tree in the back and get TM46 -

Thief. In the building, two Galactic Grunts will battleyou on the first floor. On the second floor, a bunch ofGalactic Grunts are researching on computers; two ofthem will battle you if you talk to them. On the thirdfloor, you'll battle another Galactic Grunt and a Scientist. On the top floor, you'll battle a Team GalacticCommander, Jupiter. In Platinum, finding Jupiter is

slightly trickier. First take the right set of stairs on the first floor, then the left set of stairs on the

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    12/59

second floor. The right stairs on the second floor take you to a Blue Shard and a Revive, and theleft stairs take you to Jupiter.

Once you defeat Jupiter, Team Galactic will leave the city. It turns out that you've saved theowner of the Bicycle Shop. Now you can go to the Bicycle Shop south of the Pokemon Center to

pick up your free Bicycle. This new type ofBicycle has four gear modes that you can shiftamong by pressing "B". In Platinum, Cynthia, who you met earlier, will give you a Togepi Egg.Now, ride your new Bicycle east onto Route 211.

    Route 211

After you can Surf, go north of the first body of water you see to pick up a hidden PP Up in thesmall piece of land at the corner. In the large patch of tall grass, you can find a hidden PokeBallin top-most empty spot. There's also a hidden trainer in the bump that you'll see. Keep on goingeast, smash the rock, battle the Birdkeeper, and pick up TM12 - Taunt. You can check out Mt.

Coronet (although you won't be able to go too far without Strength) for some items. There is aRevive (EnergyPowder in Platinum) hidden in the first rock that you see and an Elixir inanother rock. For now, this is as far as you can go, so now go back to Eterna City and go all theway south to Route 206.

    Route 206/Cycling Road

You can obtain an Exp. Share from Professor Rowan'sassistant in the city gate if you've seen at least 35Pokemon. This is a very useful item; the Pokemon on

your team holding this will share experience with thePokemon in battle. It is great for training very weakPokemon (Magikarp, for example). Now you can hop onyourBicycle and start cruising down Route 206. It's adownhill ride filled with a plethora of trainers. At theother end, you'll be able to get a decorative Flag fromthe girl in the transit gate.

Right outside are a couple ofRazz Berries. You may want to cut the tree on the right side toexplore a bit more land by going north. You'll be able to pick up a Burn Heal, some RawstBerries, and a Super Repel. If you go all the way north, you can explore Wayward Cave,

although it's very hard to do without Flash. Now go back south to get to Route 207.

    Route 207

Dawn will come to say hi, and will give you an Vs. Seeker (it doesn't matter which hand of hersyou choose). This item allows you to battle trainers you've fought before over and over again. Inaddition, she'll give you a Dowsing Machine for yourPoketch, useful for locating invisible

    13/59

items. To the left, there are fourBluk Berries to pick. The others are growing, so you can onlywater them. If you go south a bit, you'll see the slope you saw earlier in the game. From here, you can quickly get back to Oreburgh City to heal your Pokemon. YourBike can get you backup the slippery slope. Now go east, pick up the Super Potion, and go into Mt. Coronet.Optionally, you can take the road behind the hill to battle additional trainers and pick up a Dire

    Hit.

    Mt. Coronet

In Platinum, there's a hidden EnergyPowder on thenearest rock once you step into the mountain. The onlything you'll encounter here is a man who talks a aboutMt. Coronet and the creation of the Sinnoh region. There's not much to do after that bit of history, so go eastand exit the mountain.

    Route 208

You'll be on Route 208, fighting more trainers. After youget Rock Climb, you should take the bridge across the waterfall and climb up the rocks. A Hikerwill battle you at the top. Then, smash the rock at the top and pick up the hidden Iron on thewall. Walk around and you'll find a X Speed and a PokeBall. In the tall grass patch, you'll find a

Honey in the empty spot next to the honey tree. A trainer next to that tree will give you an OddKeystone. Go up a bit for many Berries. The Berry Master's House is right next to thoseBerries. The Berry Master inside will give you a different Berry each day. The little girl willgive you a Berry Searcher application for yourPoketch, which shows you the locations of ripeBerries. The other girl sells fertilizer.

Keep going east and you'll arrive at Hearthome City.

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    14/59

    Warm & Kind

Once you step into Hearthome City, a Pokemon will runtowards you. It bumps into you and a girl named Keirawalks over to thank you for stopping her Pokemon from

running wild. She tells you to go to the Contest Hall, where she'll give you something. Go straight eastwarduntil you see two people blocking the transit gate. Talkto the man near them to receive a Happiny Egg (not inPlatinum). Go to the Pokemon Fan Club east of thePokeMart. The Chairman will give you a Poffin Case. Now go to the building next to the Fan Club, take theelevator up, and the lady there will give you a Shell Bell,

which allows the Pokemon holding it to regain HP every time it inflicts damage. There's a PoffinHouse to the right of the PokeMart, where you can make Poffins from Berries.

The Gym Leader of this city's Gym, Fantina, stands outside of the Contest Hall (north of thePokeMart). Talk to her and she'll go away. Unfortunately, she didn't go back to her Gym, so youwon't be able to get a badge from her for now. Now you can go into the Contest Hall.Surprisingly, your mom is in there with Keira. Keira will give you a Glitter Powder for yourFashion Case. You'll also get a Tuxedo from your mom. Talk to the man straight ahead for aMild Poffin. In Platinum, Fantina is actually inside the Contest Hall. After your mom leaves, talk to Fantina, the purple-haired woman, and she'll actually go back to the gym. So now head tothe gym for your third badge! Unfortunately, in Diamond or Pearl, the gym comes later in thegame, so you can either try out the contests or leave the city.

    Third Badge in Platinum

The Hearthome Gym in Pokemon Platinum consists of a couple of rooms with trainers. To get tothe next room from the current room, simply go to the red door with the same pattern as the bluemat on the floor. The details of the battle with Fantina are on a separate page.

    Cuteness

As you head south, Rival will show up to challenge youto a battle. In Platinum, you'll find Rival inside thesoutheast gate. He uses a lv. 19 Starly, a lv. 21 Prinplup(evolved version of the starter), a lv. 20 Ponyta, and a lv.

20 Roselia. In Platinum, he uses a lv. 25 Staravia, a lv.27 Prinplup, a lv. 23 Ponyta, and a lv. 23 Roselia.Remember, this is specifically for trainers who choseChimchar as a starter. After defeating him, go north toAmity Square, where you can take a stroll with one ofyour cute Pokemon (if you have one) and pick up items. If you're in need of a cute Pokemon, go back a little to

Route 208 to catch a Psyduck. You and your cute Pokemon will then take a walk together and

talk to other people with their cute Pokemon. You can find TM45 - Attract and TM43 - SecretPower in this area. If you go to the northwest corner, you'll see two ruins with a Spooky Platenext to one on the right. You can find a hidden Amulet Coin in the other one if you go in, walkaround, and press "A" a few times. If you try talking to your Pokemon, it might give yousomething it picked up from the ground! After that, it's time to head east to Route 209.

    Route 209

Go north past the patch of tall grass to pick up a Honey(a Great Ball in Platinum). Talk to the Fishermanlooking east; he'll give you a Good Rod. Cross thebridge and go north for a Chesto Berry and a LeppaBerry. Go east from the Pikachu look-alike trainer topick up a X Accuracy. After learning Surf, surf eastfrom the Pikachu trainer to pick up TM19 - Giga Drain.

Keep going east and then go north. Pick up the RazzBerries and the invisible Awakening in the pit. For thenext item, you'll need some pretty good biking skills.Shift yourBicycle into the fast gear and try rushing up

the slippery slope. Although it may be difficult, the reward is good: a Calcium. All the waynorth, cut the tree and pick up TM47 - Steel Wing. Go into the tower, known as the Lost Tower.

    Lost Tower

Lost Tower is filled with Ghost and Dark Pokemon. If Platinum, you'll have to revisit LostTower after obtaining Defog later. Go up the levels while battling trainers and picking up the

following items: Oval Stone, Revive, and TM27 - Return. On the top floor, you'll see two oldladies. The one on the left will give you HM04 - Strength (Spell Tag in Platinum) and the oneon the right will give you Cleanse Tag. Note that you won't be able to use Strength until youobtain your third badge. Now you can leave the tower, keep going north, and arrive at the nextcity.

    Free of Worry!

Before entering Solaceon Town, you will see someBerry trees (next to the PokeMart); pick those up. Thefirst thing you'll be able to do is get the Pokemon

History application for yourPoketch from the manstanding outside the Pokemon Center. Next to thePokemon Center is the Pokemon News Center. Bring theman inside the Pokemon he wants (different each day)and he'll give you either a Quick Ball, Heal Ball, TimerBall, Great Ball, orUltra Ball. Walk up a bit and you'llfind the Pokemon Day Care Center. You can leave up totwo of your Pokemon here to gain levels while you're

walking or have them make eggs. After leaving two Pokemon here for the same time, a man willappear in the Day Care Center who'll give you the Day-Care Checker for yourPoketch. Withthis device, you'll be able to see the status of the Pokemon you leave here.

There are three ledges to explore on the east side of town. The left ledge leads you to a useless

house. The middle ledge leads you to a house where the lady inside will give you a Seal Case, which is used to store stickers for decorating yourPokeBalls. The right ledge leads you to theSolaceon Ruins, where you'll find trainers, items, and Unown. Right outside, you'll also be ableto pick up a PP Up. Inside the Solaceon Ruins, check the top-left staircase for a Repel (a FireStone in Platinum). The top-right staircase is much more interesting, as it takes you to a levelwith more staircases. Now take the bottom-left staircase. Fight the single trainer and go down thebottom-left staircase for an Escape Rope (a Water Stone in Platinum). Continue down the top-right staircase and then the top-left staircase from there. The bottom-right staircase has a BigMushroom (a Thunder Stone in Platinum). Now go up the top-left staircase and then thebottom-left staircase. Now you'll see four lovely itemballs containing a Nugget, a Rare Candy,a Mind Plate, and an Odd Incense. In Platinum, you'll find HM05 - Defog instead of a Rare

Candy. Now either use an Escape Rope to get yourself out of here, or, if you feel like it, try tofind your way out.

    Route 210

Route 210 is covered with tall grass, which yourBicyclecannot pass through; however, you still need to use it.The first thing you should do is pick up the Berries. Youshould get on yourBicycle to go up the slippery slope(using the speed gear) and obtain TM51 - Roost from

the guy standing on the right. Do the same for the leftside to fight more trainers and get a Great Ball (SuperRepel in Platinum). The Cafe Cabin sells Moomoo Milkand also has trainers you can battle. You'll notice that afunny group of Psyduck is blocking the road, so headeast to Route 215.

    Route 215

It will begin raining once you're on Route 215. Head up

the small, wooden bridge to continue on this route. Fightthe trainer and pick up the Ether. As you go up the otherbridge, talk to the Blackbelt facing north to receiveTM66 - Payback. Go north across the bridge and pickup the hidden Honey at the location shown on thescreenshot. Get off the bridge, cut the tree and fight theBlackbelt. Afterwards, pick up the Fist Plate. You caneither hop over the ledge now, or go around to fight the

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    17/59

other Blackbelt. In Platinum, you can pick up a Fist Plate. In any case, cut the tree at the south topick up the Bluk Berries and Pecha Berries. Now go up the raised area and first pick up theGuard Spec. by going south on the bridge. Continue east on Route 215. Cut the first tree you seeto obtain TM43 - Secret Power. You can pick up a Full Heal by going west a little and hoppingover a ledge. Keep on going east, pick up the Berries, and you'll arrive at Veilstone City.

    Hewn From Rock

As you can see, Veilstone City is a huge city. It has alarge, five-story Department Store west of the PokemonCenter. The first floor sells Balls, normal items, mailitems, and medicine items. Talk to the lady near thecounter for a Turtwig Mask. The second floor sellsbattle items and stat boosting items such as Calcium.Talk to the other girl behind the counter to receive aCounter application for yourPoketch. The third floor

sells a lot of TMs. The fourth floor sells decorations. Onthe fifth floor, talk to the twin dressed in blue on theright for a Sticky Barb. Finally, after a fun bit of

shopping, it's time to check out other things in the city.

    Game Corner Fun

Veilstone City has a Game Corner where you can gamble and have fun. However, you'll needCoins to do so, and you'll need a Coin Case to store them. The Coin Case can be obtained froma clown in a house in the south-western part of the city. He'll spin a coin and ask you to pickwhich hand the coin is in; just pick the same hand over and over until you get it. In the house

next to that house, the girl inside can give your Pokemon a massage. The bald man standingoutside the house to the left will give you TM63 - Embargo. Now you can check out the GameCorner at the south-eastern part of the city.

You can buy 50 Coins for $1,000 or 500 Coins for $10,000. Talk to the two guys near thecounter for free Coins. Now you can have a bit of fun on the slot machines. If you get enoughCoins, you can go next door to the Prize Exchange to get some items, such as TMs, for yourCoins. Note that it is very costly to get stuff here. After you're done exploring, it's time to visitthe gym. After learning Rock Climb, you can pick up a Full Incense near the Gym.

    Time to Fight

This is a Fighting-type gym, as you could probably tellfrom all those Blackbelts waiting to battle you. To reachthe Gym Leader, you'll have to push the wooden slidesfrom the left or right side in order to move around. Iwould suggest first battling all the Blackbelts and heal

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    18/59

your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center before solving this sliding puzzle. Note that once youleave the gym, the slides are reset.

You want to eventually be able to slide the two slides at the very end so that they open up to theGym Leader. In order to do that, you'll need to move the slides in each of the three columns.

First take care of the left column by matching up the slides with the openings of each box. Youdo this by sliding the slides of both the left column and the middle column back and forth. Whenthe left column is opened up at last, go to the end and push the slide at the very end to the right. Now do the same for the right column, go to the end, and push the slide at the very end to theleft. Now all you need to do is push the slides in the middle column to the proper positions (youprobably won't need to if you followed the steps here, since everything will naturally fall intoplace), and you'll be walking straight towards the Gym Leader!

The Gym Leader is Maylene and she uses some powerful Fighting Pokemon: a lv. 27 Meditite, alv. 27 Machoke, and a lv. 30 Lucario. After defeating Maylene, you'll receive the Cobble Badge, which allows you to use Fly (though you haven't gotten this HM yet) outside of battle. Also,

    she'll give you TM60 - Drain Punch.

Outside the gym, Dawn asks you to help her get herPokeDex back from Team Galactic. Gonorth near the entrance to the city, and you'll find two Galactic Grunts facing Dawn. Talk to herto initiate the battle. Dawn will team up with you, using her lv. 25 Clefairy. Together, theGalactic Grunts have four Pokemon and Clefairy won't do too much to help you; so, be prepared. The Galactic Grunts will return Dawn's PokeDex to her after their defeat and she'll head off toPastoria City. Go into the Warehouse to pick up HM02 - Fly. With Fly, you can now you can

move around previously visited areas of Sinnoh much more easily.

Now, go south onto Route 214. Note that there is more than one way to go on from here, but I'vedecided to go this way since it's the most obvious one.

    Route 214

move it would get by leveling up to its current level if you provide him with a Heart Scale. Inthe house across from the Pokemon Mart, the lady inside will give you a different Berryeveryday. After learning Surf, surf across the water in the south side of Marsh City to pick upMystic Water. Now it's gym time!

    Watery Gym

Pastoria City's gym is full of water. Like the previousgym, you have to solve a bit of a puzzle in order to reachthe Gym Leader. The gym has walking platforms at threelevels with the water level being controlled by threetypes of buttons. The orange button will lower the watercompletely, allowing you to access all three levels. Thegreen button sets the water level to the middle, preventing you from accessing the lowest level. The bluebutton raises the water such that you'll only be able to

walk on the top-most level. The water will then raise orlower the yellow connectors between platforms.

First, head to the bottom-left side of the gym and step on the orange button. Go past the greenbutton and go all the way up the stairs. Step on the green button you see. Next, go all the way leftand step on the blue button. Head to the top-right side of the gym and step on the green button.Go down one level and step on the orange button at the bottom-right side. Now go to the upper-left side to the top-most level and step on the blue button. Now you'll get access to the GymLeader.

Crasher Wake, the Gym Leader, uses a lv. 27 Gyarados, a lv. 27 Quagsire, and a lv. 30 Floatzel.

He'll award you the Fen Badge and TM55 - Brine for defeating him.

    Pastoria Great Marsh

Go to the north of Pastoria City to go to the Great Marsh. This is the Safari Zone of Sinnoh. You pay $500 for 30Safari Balls, which you use to catch Pokemon while inthe Great Marsh. You will definitely want to visit thisplace at least once so you can get HM05 - Defog fromthe lady near the entrance. More information regardingthe Great Marsh will be up later.

    Other Activities

Talk to the Galactic Grunt standing outside of the GreatMarsh so he can leave. Head east, and you'll find him still standing there. Talk to him again toreally make him go away. Right afterwards, Rival will come over to battle you. His Pokemon areall below lv. 30, so at this point, he shouldn't be too hard to defeat. After that, you can either

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    21/59

head west to go through Route 212 (which is pretty much optional) or go back east to continuechasing the Galactic Grunt. We'll first consider going through Route 212 from the west.

    Route 212

Route 212 is a straightforward walk westward. First pickup the Berries near the beginning. You'll find TM06 -Toxic near the marsh area past the two little trees. Youcan also cut those trees to go across the thin bridge. Onthe other side, you'll find an X Special. Keep on goingwest from there until you pick up the Zinc. Keep goingwest and you'll find some Fishermen. After learningSurf, you can surf west a little and pick up a hiddenProtein on the land. To get to the itemball on the smallisland (which turns out to be a TM), go west a little and

cross the thin bridge. If you know Surf, then you can surfacross the pond to pick up TM84 - Poison Jab. To go across the other thin bridges, head northand chop the trees. Once you're on the "other side", you can pick up an Antidote near the south. When you can't go west any longer, go north, and it'll stop raining. There's an Elixir partiallyhidden from view behind a sign. Again, if you know Surf, you can surf across the pond to pickup some Berries.

Cut the tree north of the large pond to pick up TM11 - Sunny Day. Along this section, you can

pick up Berries and fight two trainers. There are many police officers who will only battle you atnight. Here, you'll also find the Pokemon Mansion.

    Pokemon Mansion

For now, the two rooms on either end of the PokemonMansion are off limits until you obtain the NationalDex. However, you still have a lot to do; namely, a lot of

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    22/59

items to pick up. Explore every room, and you'll pick up a Great Ball, a Soothe Ball, a BurnHeal (found in a trash can), and TM87 - Swagger. The room straight down the red carpet leadsyou to the Trohpy Garden, where you can find some Pokemon in the patch of grass.

Surf across the pond next to the Pokemon Mansion (if you can) for a Rose Incense. After this,

you should fly back to Pastoria City.

    Chasing The Grunt

Depending on if you chose to explore Route 212 or decided to ignore that route, you need to goeast from Pastoria City to chase the Galactic Grunt you scared away earlier. On the beach onRoute 213, you'll find him standing next to a Fisherman, thinking out loud. Talk to him, and he'llgo further east. Follow him, and you'll find him again east of the restaurant full of trainers. Talkto him, and again, he'll leave, going north a little. Now he'll battle you after you talk to him oncemore. After the battle, go north a little and you'll find Cynthia, who'll give you a SecretPotion toclear the group of Psyduck blocking the road on Route 210.

    Route 210

Now, fly over to Veilstone City (or you can go north abit more to get there) and head west from there to get tothe Psyduck on Route 210. Getting past Route 215 is asimple matter of hopping over ledges. Go up to thePsyduck to use the SecretPotion you obtained and thePsyduck will disperse. Afterwards, Cynthia will comeover to give you an errand. She wants you to deliver an

Old Charm to her grandma in Celestic Town.

Go north to continue on Route 210. First grab the SuperRepel under the tree on the left side. Within this tall

grass, there are three Ninja Boys who you can battle. You'll notice them by seeing abnormallumps in the grass. At the center of this large patch of grass, you can pick up a Hyper Potion. After the tall grass, you'll find an Ultra Ball in the north-east corner of the regular grass. As yougo north, you'll encounter some really thick fog. You might want to use Defog to get rid of it.Head north-west. Go up the two sets of steps. After learning Rock Climb, climb east-ward (downand then up), and battle the Dragon Tamer. Inside the house you see, an old lady can teach yourPokemon a Dragon-type move. Go west a little and down the stairs to pick up a hidden Nugget

on the ground. Now go climb back to where you were originally.

Go all the way west by crossing the regular bridge and thin bridge, fight the Ninja Boy, and gosouth to pick up TM30 - Shadowball. Go back east a little and head south now. Pick up theSmoke Ball and continue west. After battling the Veteran, head north a little to pick up a bunchofBerries. If you keep heading west, you'll reach Celestic Town.

    The Past Lives

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    23/59

Celestic Town is quite small and quite easy to navigate.Go into the Pokemon Center to obtain a Great Ball fromthe man inside. The Blackbelt in the house west of thePokemon Center will give you a Poketch applicationcalled the Analog Watch, which is simply a regular,

analog watch. Although there's no Pokemon Mart in thistown, you can buy and sells items in the house at thenorth-west corner of town. Inside, the man with thesunglasses will give you BlackGlasses.

Now, go to the center of the city and talk to the GalacticGrunt blocking the cave entrance. You'll battle him and he'll leave afterwards. An old lady, whoturns out to be Cynthia's grandma, will come over to talk to you. You'll give her the Old Charmand she'll thank you for it. Now, go into the cave and examine the wall paintings at the other end.The old lady will then walk over to give HM03 - Surf. Keep in mind that you won't be able touse this ability until you obtain your fifth badge from Hearthome City.

Once you leave the cave, the blue-haired man you met earlier in Mt. Coronet (who's name turnsout to be Cyrus) will talk to you for a while. Now, head west onto Route 211.

    Route 211

There will be a bunch ofBerries to pick up at the beginning of Route 211. Go onto the raisedland and talk to the guy facing south forTM77 - Psych Up. After learning Rock Climb, you cansmash the rock next to the trainer and climb up the steep rocks. On top is TM29 - Psychic. Mt.Coronet is to the west, but you won't be able to do much more than pick up an Escape Rope. If

that sounds too boring for you, fly over to Hearthome City.

Another option, which is completely optional, is to visit Routes 219, 220, 221 now that you canSurf. I recommend going there now to train your Pokemon. However, you won't be able to gointo Pal Park as of yet (where those routes lead to). Even so, you should still go. Below is theguide for those three routes.

    Route 219

To start off on Route 219, fly over to Sandgem Town and head south. Go past the beach and start

surfing south. You'll battle two children on land before going on more water. Surprisingly, Route219, perhaps the shortest route in history, ends here!

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    24/59

    Route 220

Route 220 proves to be longer and more exciting. You'll see a fork in the path. The right forkwould be a good choice unless you could care less to battle only one trainer. The left path has alot more stuff to do. Going down that path, you'll first battle two Swimmers. Go onto land to pickup an Ether. Then go to the other side of the rock to pick up a Splash Plate. It seems like thereare more forks. The bottom-most fork will lead you to a single trainer. If you keep going east, you can find a Carbos. Going east further brings you face to face with more trainers andeventually takes you to Route 221.

    Route 221

After battling the first trainer on Route 221, pick up theProtein you see on land. Soon, you'll reach solid ground.Battle the Fishman if you wish and then pick up aHoney. If you go up to the north-west corner, you canpick up a Pure Incense. At the north side, you'll find ahouse deep inside the woods. Show the old man inside aPokemon at the level he requests (varies daily) and he'llgive you a reward. Along the south side of the route, you'll be able to pick up some Berries. Once you reachthe end, you can pick up TM81 - X-Scissor. You'llnotice that Pal Park is closed and will only open after

    you obtain your National Dex.

    Now, onto Hearthome City.

    Back For a Rumble

The only point in coming back to Hearthome City is tofight in the gym. Trainers in the Hearthome Gym uses

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    25/59

Ghost Pokemon. Upon entering the gym, walk straight up and let the elevator take you up. Thisgym contains simple math questions. If you get it right, you get to go to the next level; otherwise, you fight a trainer. Press "A" against the sign to find out the question. If you want to answer thequestion correctly (you might not want to if you want to battle trainers), choose the doorcorresponding to the correct answer. After picking the correct door, you'll go through three more

    of these types of puzzles.

Fantina is the Gym Leader and her Pokemon are relatively powerful. She uses a lv. 32 Drifblim,a lv. 34 Gengar, and a lv. 36 Mismagius. However, they are considerably weaker in Platinumsince it comes much earlier. In Platinum, she uses a lv. 24 Duskull, a lv. 24 Gengar, and a lv. 26Mismagius. However they have a weakness against Dark types and Ghost types. A Pokemonstrongly recommended is a Luxray. It can take out her Drifblim with Spark or other electricalattacks, while for the other two use Bite. Fantinas strategy using Drifblim is using Gust, andOminous wind. Her Gengar mainly uses Poison Jab. Finally her Mismagius sometimes usesMagical Leafs and Shadow Ball. If your starter was Turtwig and you taught it Bite, plus anothergood level Pokemon with Bite should be enough. All Pokemon should be lv. 30+. After

defeating Fantina, she'll award you with the Relic Badge, which allows your Pokemon to useSurf outside of battle. In Platinum, it only allows you to use Defog outside of battle. In addition, she'll give you TM65 - Shadow Claw.

When you go out of the gym, Cynthia comes to talk to you. Now that you can Surf, there aremany previously inaccessible sections you've been to that you can now visit. Details can befound in earlier pages. As Cynthia suggested, you should go to Canalave City, which can bereached by going west of Jubilife City. So, fly over there and go west onto Route 218. Beforeyou do, you might want to pick up the Memo Pad, Marking Map, and Link Searcherapplications for yourPoketch at the Poketch Company. Talk to the President, who stands next tothe counter on the first floor.

    Route 218

The first thing you might want to do on Route 218 is tosurf north a little to hop onto land to pick up a RareCandy. Surf in the south-west direction, pick up aHoney, and battle the two Fishermen. If you go west, you'll reach land and be able to battle some trainers andpick some Berries. Go into the border building, andProfessor Rowan's assistant will update yourPokeDex

so it can distinguish between male and female Pokemon. On the other side is Canalave City.

    Cargo Port

Canalave City is where you'll battle Rival and obtainyour sixth badge. First, go into the first house you see,and talk to the girl near the door for TM48 - Skill

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    26/59

Swap. The Move Deleter lives in the house across from the Pokemon Mart. He can delete movesyou no longer want from your Pokemon; his service is needed to remove any unwanted HMs thatyou've taught your Pokemon. Before you head across the bridge to get to the west side ofCanalave City, be sure to heal your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, for Rival awaits you on thebridge.

Rival's Pokemon are all around lv. 30. He even has a new Heracross. After defeating him, as youalways do, continue west and go into the Gym.

    Fists of Steel

The Canalave Gym supposedly specializes in Steel-typePokemon, but also uses a lot of Rock-type Pokemon. AFire/Fighting Pokemon will melt through this Gymwithout breaking a sweat. However, you might break asweat trying to get to the gym leader, who can be

reached only after getting through the elevator puzzle ofthis Gym (actually, this is very simple after locatingwhich elevator to take first). Start off by taking the right-most elevator. Follow the path to go down the onlyavailable elevator, fight the trainer, and take the onlyavailable elevator up. Go across by going left and takethe only available elevator. Go across north, fight the trainer, and go right all the way. Go southon the narrow aisle, and go back north. Continue to the only available elevator. Fight the trainer, and go down the only available elevator. The red-bordered elevator will take you to the GymLeader.

Byron, the Gym Leader (also the father of Roark, gym leader of Oreburgh Gym), uses dual-typePokemon that are half Steel and half something else. His three Pokemon are: a lv. 36 Bonzor, alv. 36 Steelix, and a lv. 39 Bastiodon. For defeating him, Byron will award you with the MineBadge, which allows your Pokemon to use Strength outside of battle. He'll also give you TM91 -Flash Cannon. Once you leave the gym, Rival will meet you outside and ask you to go to theLibrary with him.

    Three Lakes

The Canalave Library is located north of the Gym. Go to the third floor, where you'll findProfessor Rowan, Dawn, and Rival. The Professor will talk to the three of you about three

legendary Pokemon in three of the lakes in Sinnoh. He and Dawn plan on visiting Lake Verity. He asks Rival to explore Lake Acuity and you to explore Lake Valor. As if there's an earthquake, the building shakes and you hear a loud explosion. The others will rush out the building to seewhat happened. Follow them outside. A Sailor comes over and notifies the four of you that thetremor was the result of an explosion at Lake Valor. Rival rushes off and so should you! Time tocheck out what happened at Lake Valor!

    27/59

    Lake Valor

Valor Lakefront (the area around Lake Valor) is situatedbetween Veilstone City and Pastoria City, so you can flyto either city to get to the lake. You might remember that

you've actually gone past the entrance, which waspreviously blocked by two men. Now that these men aregone, you can explore inside.

Inside, you'll find an empty lake bottom filled withsplashing Magikarp and a few Galactic Grunts standingaround. Fight two of them if you wish to and enter thecave at the center of the lake. Inside, Commander Saturn,

a Team Galactic boss, will battle you. After the battle, Commander Saturn will retreat from LakeValor, telling you that Commander Mars is at Lake Verity. Now, fly over to Twinleaf Town toget to the other lake.

    Lake Verity

From Twinleaf Town, go north-west to get to Lake Verity. Professor Rowan will talk to youonce you enter the lake, asking you to help out Dawn. You'll find her facing off withCommander Mars, whom you will battle again (you had battled her once before). After defeatingher, she'll give you some details on what Team Galactic did, which is that they captured the threelegendary Pokemon Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie. Now you need to visit Lake Acuity, located at thevery north of Sinnoh. To get there, you'll need to go through Mt. Coronet. Fly over to EternaCity and head east to Mt. Coronet.

    Mt. Coronet

Inside Mr. Coronet, first use Strength to push the boulderto obtain TM69 - Rock Polish. Go east, then north, and

push the boulder north to get it out of your way. Smash the rocks on the left for a Rare Candy.Continue north-west and go down the entrance. Now, you'll need to use Defog to get rid of thethick fog. Smash the first rock you see for a Stardust. Surf a bit east on the water for a LightClay on the small piece of land. Go back onto land, go down the second set of steps, and gonorth for a Soft Sand. Keep on going and go east, down the next set of steps. Surf east or smash

the rock for a Max Elixir. Push away the first boulder you see for a Revive. Go south-east for aFull Restore. Now, go back to where you were before going down the steps, and continue northuntil you exit the mountain onto Route 216. Note that right before you exit, you'll see twoboulders; there is a HP Up between them.

    Route 216

Surprisingly, it's snowing on the other side of themountain on Route 216. It's quite beautiful, but on someareas, you sink into the deep snow, making it difficult for

you to walk around. Take the steps, go across the bridge, and pick up the Ice Heal on the north end. Follow thebridges all the way west for a nice detour from the deepsnow you would go through otherwise. Keep going west, and you'll see a Snowbound Lounge, where you can healyour Pokemon by sleeping in the bed. Go north fromthere and you'll reach Route 217.

    Route 217

The snow here gets really, really heavy. The snow at some areas will sink you up to the neck, slowly you down further. You can typically speed up if you walk for a bit and stop walking.Route 27 is quite wide, making it even more difficult to explore this route. You'll find a half-covered Iron in the center of the road. North-west of that, you'll find a house and TM07 - Haillaying outside. Behind that house, you'll find the very important HM08 - Rock Climb. Aftergetting that, talk to the Hiker in the house for an Icicle Plate. On the north-east side, there's ahouse in which the girl inside will give you a Spell Tag. Don't continue north from here. Instead,go west, and then head all the way north.

    Acuity Lakefront

The snow has finally calmed down on Acuity Lakefront. You'll see two Galactic Grunts blockingthe entrance to Lake Acuity; so, come back here later. Go to the very north to pick up an UltraBall. Then, head east to enter Snowpoint City.

    City of Snow

  • 8/8/2019 Pokemon Diamond_Pearl Complete Walk Through

    29/59

Snowpoint City is a small, cold, snowy city. Besidestrading a Haunter for a Medicham in the house at thenorth-western corner of the city, the only other point ofinterest is the Gym, where you'll battle through a bunchof Ice-type Pokemon for your seventh badge. Here we

    go!

    Ice and Snow

The ground of this Gym ismade of slippery ice with

snowballs as obstacles. You'll have to slide long enough on the ice, gaining enough momentum, in order to break through the snow ballsand reach the gym leader. If you don't gain enough momentum and hit asnow ball or slide onto a small patch of snow, you will stop moving.

It looks like a daunting task at first, and if you try to move around, itgets increasingly frustrating. However, keep your goal in sight; that is,you want to reach the Gym Leader, who can be reached if you gostraight after going down the first set of steps. There are six snowballsblocking your path. Three of them are tightly packed on the lowest level (which I shall call level4). Two are on the second lowest level (level 3), on either side of the three snowballs. The finalsnowball is behind all of the, on the third lowest/second highest level (level 2) So, let's crackthese snowballs one by one, starting with the single snowball on level 3 (again, that's the secondlowest level).

Once you enter the Gym, move forward on the iceless ground as far as you can, just before youtouch any ice. Slide to the right, stopping at the snowball, and move up twice to the second snowpatch. Slide left and you'll gain enough momentum to crush a snowball on level 3. Clearing thissnowball up will give you more room to move around. Now, go onto the snow patch on level 1by going up the bottom-left steps. You will be using the bottom-left steps every single time, somake sure you know what I'm referring to. It is also shown in the screenshot. Go up one snow

    30/59

patch, hit the wall on the left by taking one step, and slide up one patch. Slide right, and you'lleliminate the last row of the snowballs on level 4. Take the bottom-left steps up to level 1, godown and then right. You should be on the second patch. Slide up to get to the other end of theGym, take a left, go down, and slide right to smash the level 3 snowball. Slide left and go up thebottom-left steps yet again. Go down one patch and slide to the third patch (one more patch to

the right than previously), which is on the right side of the Gym. Slide up, left, and down to getto the patch on level 3. Slide right to smash yet another row. Do the same thing over, going upthe bottom-left steps and sliding right; except this time, go another patch to the right (the secondpatch on the right side of the Gym). Now slide up, step left to the adjacent patch, down, and leftto smash another row. Use the bottom-left steps yet again (by now, you should have noticed thepattern, although we're almost finished), but slide all the way up until you hit a snowball. Slideright to smash the final snowball on level 2. You're done! Now all you have to do is use thebottom-left steps to get back near the entrance and go straight for the Gym Leader!

Candice, the Gym Leader, uses a lv. 38 Snover, a lv. 38Sneasel, a lv. 40 Medicham, and a lv. 42 Abomasnow.

Defeating her earns you the Icicle Badge, which allowsyou to use Rock Climb outside of battle. She'll also giveyou TM72 - Avalanche. Now it's time to check out LakeAcuity.

    Lake Acuity

Go back west onto Acuity Lakefront and enter into LakeAcuity. You'll find Rival and Commander Jupiter by the lake, finishing up a battle and puttingeach other down. Commander Jupiter leaves for Team Galactic's headquarters in Veilstone City.

Rival leaves also. Surf to the north-east corner of the lake to pick up TM14 - Blizzard.Afterwards, fly over to Veilstone City.

    Rumble in the Headquarters

The Galactic Veilstone Building (the headquarters) is atall, black building located at the north-east section ofVeilstone City. Talk to your old friend (the GalacticGrunt) outside, and he'll inadvertently leave behind aStorage Key. You can also pick up a PP Up on the leftside of the building. Go into the warehouse at the north-

west section of the city and unlock the door using yourStorage Key. Pick up the Dusk Stone and godownstairs, which leads you to the basement of theGalactic Veilstone Building.

Go straight east and you'll battle a Galactic Grunt, the first of many. Keep on going east, makingsure to pick up the Zinc in the room you pass by. At the end of the hallway, go up the stairs. Thiswill take you to a room with one Galactic Grunt who won't battle you, but will tell you about the

"warp panels". Continue east up the stairs. In this room, you'll battle a Galatic Grunt and noticetwo warp panels. Take the right warp panel to pick up TM49 - Snatch. Then go back and takethe left warp panel, which will take you to a very small room with a single warp panel. Take thatand go up the stairs. Battle the Grunt and take the warp panel on the left. Go downstairs, battlethe Scientist, and head down the stairs. Continue west down the hall, and pick up TM36 - Sludge

Bomb and the Galactic Key. This key will allow you to unlock any locked doors in theheadquarters. Go back to the room where you fought the last Grunt and take the stairs up. Gowest, battle the Galactic Grunt, and pick up a hidden Elixir on the machine at the corner. Followthe hallway, unlock the door at the end, and pick up TM21 - Frustration. Now, go back up intothe city and enter the actual Galactic Veilstone Building at the north-east section.

Once inside, unlock the door and go up the stairs. Pickup a hidden Full Heal on the machine and head east tobattle the two Galactic Grunts. Go into the room andpick up a hidden Ultra Ball on the right machine. Takethe bottom-right warp panel outside the room for a Max

Revive. Go back into that room and take the warp panelinside. Here, you can heal your Pokemon by sleeping inthe beds. Continue up the stairs and pick up anotherhidden Full Heal on the machine. Go to the end of thehallway and you'll see three warp panels. The middlewarp panel will lead you to an Elixir and the one on the

left will take you to the boss.

Unlock the door and approach the man inside, who isGalactic Boss Cyrus. After defeating him, he'll give youa Master Ball. Cyrus will leave for Mt. Coronet and tells

you to the warp panel ahead to save the Legendary Trio. So, go into the next room and take that warp panel. Goeast and then enter the room. Inside are the LegendaryTrio trapped inside special cages and CommanderSaturn. Defeat him in a battle and you'll be able to freethe Pokemon by pressing the button on the control panel. After pressing the button, the three Pokemon will floatoff, and so will Commander Saturn. To quickly exit thebuilding, go back to where you battled Cyrus, and take the green warp panel out.

Now you want to intercept Cyrus at Mt. Coronet; go there going east from Oreburgh City ontoRoute 207.

    Mt. Coronet

Before going, make sure to stock up on lots ofUltra Balls. Also be sure to have lots ofDuskBalls, which can be found in Pastoria City's Pokemon Mart. The reason is that you'll soon becatching Dialga/Pakia. In addition, you might need (Super/Max) Repels if you don't want to

From the outside, climb the rocks westward and head west. You'll find a TinyMushroom hiddenon a rock and a Big Mushroom on the northern-most level. You'll soon see another cave

opening, which you should enter. On the second rock, you'll find anotherTinyMushroom. Keepgoing east and head up the steps. Battle the Galactic Grunt and pick up the hidden Max Potionbehind her. If you go south as far as you can, you'll be able to pick up a hidden Stardust on arock. Fight the Grunt and head west up the steps. As you go north from here, you'll battle onelast Grunt before finally reaching the peak of Mt. Coronet.

    Spear Pillar

At the top, you'll battle two Galactic Grunts before youget to the final challenge. Walking forward, you'll find

Commander Cyrus, Commander Mars, and CommanderJupiter all in one spot! Commander Cyrus will summonDialga (in Pokemon Diamond)/Palkia (in PokemonPearl). As the beast comes out, you'll see someimpressive animation sequences. After Cyrus is donetalking, walk forward and Commander Mars willchallenge you to a battle. Suddenly, Rival comes overand gets into battle stance with Commander Jupiter. Achallenging double battle will ensue (challenging mainly

because Rival's Pokemon doesn't seem to help much). After defeating the two of them, Rival willheal your Pokemon and you'll observe Dialga/Palkia forming a galaxy as instructed by Cyrus.

Luckily, the Legendary Trio will arrive to mess up his plans. Furious, Cyrus will battle you one-on-one with some pretty powerful Pokemon. After defeating him, the Team Galactic will leave, and Professor Rowan and Dawn will come. ProfessorRowan tells you to help Dialga/Palkia out and the way todo that is to capture it (or defeat it)! The time has come...

Before going for Dialga/Pearl, save your game! Also, note that you should NOT use yourMaster Ball. This

Pokemon is easier to capture than other legendaries in the game. Dialga/Palkia is at lv. 47 and it'svery strong. Dialga is a Steel/Dragon-type Pokemon and Palkia is a Water/Dragon-typePokemon. Try to get its HP as low as possible and throw Ultra Balls and Dusk Balls at it (whilelistening to the wonderful background music). Once you have captured it, Professor Rowan willcome over to praise you on your incredible feat. Afterwards, go all the way north to pick up

either the Adamant Orb (Diamond) orLustrous Orb (Pearl), which powers up Dialga andPalkia, respectively.

Now, you'll be able to catch the Legendary Trio by re-visiting the three lakes. Be sure to haveplenty ofDusk Balls, since these are the best types of Balls to use on these legendaries.

    Mesprit at Lake Verity

Surf to the south-west section to pick up TM38 - FireBlast. Then, surf to the center of the lake and go into the

cave. Inside, you'll see Mesprit. Press "A" against it andyou'll see a picture of it, which will be logged in yourPokeDex. Unfortunately, it'll fly away immediately.Professor Rowan then comes running over to tell you touse the Marking Map on yourPoketch to trackMesprit's location. Like the Legendary Beasts ofPokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, you'll have to walk in thegrassy areas where Mesprit is detected in hopes ofencountering it. Note that if you encounter it, Mesprit

will flee immediately after you make any move. So, if you want to capture it, you probablyshould prevent it from fleeing, using a move such as Mean Look.

    Azlef at Lake Valor

Surf to the south-east section to pick up TM25 -Thunder. Then, surf to the center of the lake and go intothe cave. Unlike Mesprit, Azlef will actually battle you;in other words, you can capture it right now! However,be careful, since this Pokemon is quite strong (lv. 50with high damaging moves) and harder to catch thanDialga/Palkia.

    Uxie at Lake Acuity

If you haven't done so already, surf to the north-eastsection to pick up TM14 - Blizzard. Once again, go intothe cave at the center of the lake. Inside, you'll be able tocatch the lv. 50 Uxie.

After all of that, we shall continue through the game. You only have one more Gym and the Elite4 to take care of before the end of this wonderful game (of course, there's lots more stuff to doafterwards). Fly over to Pastoria City and go east, past the hotel. When you're on ValorLakefront, continue east past the part that was previously blocked by a fat guy, and you'll arrive

    on Route 222.

    Route 222

There are tons of trainers to battle on Route 222, many of them optional. This is because there isa fork in the route. The northern fork has more trainers that you'll be forced to battle with, whilethe southern fork has optional Fishermen. Take either, or both, since both forks eventuallycombine. On the north side, you can get a whole bunch ofBerries at the beginning. Other thanbattling trainers, you'll be able to pick up a Honey, a hidden Ultra Ball, and a Carbos (very eastside of the northern fork after cutting a tree). Also, talk to the person facing south forTM56 -

Fling. At the end of the south side, smash the rock and go onto the raised area to pick up ahidden Honey. If you surf east a little and get back on land, you can pick up a hidden BigMushroom.

The forks soon combine and you'll arrive at Sunyshore City.

    Solar Powered!

Once you get to Sunyshore City, you will be approachedby a red-haired man. He turns out to be Flint, one of theElite Four. He wants you to defeat the Gym Leader in a

hot battle so it'll make him enthusiastic about battlingagain (he's currently too good for the few challengers hegets, and is bored of winning).

To get to certain areas in this city, you'll have to use tolarge solar panel roads. Take the stairs up and go all theway east. Go down the stairs to pick up a Thunderstone. If you feel like exploring, get back onto the solar panel

road and go north, then a bit south. Here, you'll find the Pokemon Mart and the Sunyshore Mart, where you can buy Seals for yourBalls. Otherwise, go south-east into the Vista Lighthouse. Talkto the Gym Leader inside to make him go back to his Gym. Prepare for your final Gym battle

and head over to the north-west section of the city to get to the Gym.

    Electrifying Experience

Upon entering the Gym, you'll see the marvelous resultof the Gym Leader's renovation: a gear puzzle with red, green, and blue switches. The green switch rotates a gear90 degrees counter-clockwise, the blue switch rotates a

gear 90 degrees clockwise, and the red switch rotates a gear 180 degrees clockwise. Gears thatrotate will rotate any other gears attached to it, including vertical gears that harness bridges.

Once you enter the Gym, step on the right green switch one time and step on the left greenswitch one time. Follow the path to battle the trainer and go to the next room. Remember, if you

ever mess up with the sequence, you can always go to the previous room and come back for thegears to reset. Now, in the second room, step on the blue switch three times. Go up the stairs onthe left side, follow the path and step on the blue switch once. Step on the green switch, go to theright side, and go up the stairs. Proceed to the third room. Step on the right red switch once, theleft red switch once, and go up along the left side. Step on the green switch once twice and moveover to the right side. Step on the blue switch once, go up, and then go all the way down. Steponce on the first red switch you stepped on. Now go back up the right side to get to the GymLeader.

Volkner, so called the "top Gym Leader in Sinnoh", uses a lv. 46 Raichu, a lv. 47 Ambipom, alv. 47 Octillery, and a lv. 49 Luxray. After his defeat, Volkner seems very happy! He'll give you

your eighth and final badge: the Beacon Badge. It allows you to use Waterfall (which youhaven't gotten yet) outside of battle. He'll also give you TM57 - Charge Beam. Now it's on tothe Pokemon League!

Go to the north of the city, where you'll meet Jasmine, a Gym Leader in the Johto Region. She'llgive you HM07 - Waterfall. Now surf north onto Route 223.

    Route 223

Route 223 is a sea route that will take you north towards

Victory Road. If you go along the left side of the route, you should find a small opening to the left, near aSwimmer. Go inside and go north to pick up TM18 -Rain Dance. Keep surfing north and you will walk ontoa shallow area. Battle the Sailor and go north a bit topick up a Pearl. Now, go to the west side of the largerock and continue north. Use Waterfall to get up thehuge waterfall you see. Go into the Pokemon Center toheal your Pokemon and enter Victory Road.\

    Victory Road

Victory Road is a long cave containing powerful trainers, tough wild Pokemon, and interestingmazes. Almost all the Pokemon you encounter here, both wild and trained, are leveled in thehigh 40s. To begin, go straight north across the bridge and climb down the rocks. Battle thePsychic at the corner and go north a little bit to pick up TM41 - Torment. Go to the south-eastcorner to pick up a hidden Ultra Ball on the rock. Now climb back up the rocks where you camedown from and go east across the bridge. Head down the steps, head north, battle the Birdkeeper,

and continue north across the bridge to pick up a Full Heal. Climb back up the stairs and keepgoing north across the bridge. Climb down the rocks and head all the way west. Go up the stepsand go north. After battling the trainer, keep going north until you hit the dead end. Pick up ahidden Max Elixir on the rock. Go back south a bit and go west up the stairs, leading you toanother area.

In this area, you'll be surrounded by a variety of rocks.Go west by smashing the rock and pushing the boulder.Go to the corner to pick up a hidden Full Restore on thewall. Go back near the entrance of this area and headsouth by smashing the rocks. Push the boulders out ofyour way and continue west. After battling the trainer, push the left boulder down, smash the rock on the other

side, push that boulder back up again, and go east. You'llcome up three boulders. Push away the top boulder, battle the Veteran, and head down the steps.

Follow the bridge east and climb down the rocks. Go north, east, battle the Blackbelt, and godown the steps at the end. In this area, surf on the water and battle the Psychic on the narrowstrip of land. Surf across the south-eastern body of water, pick up the hidden Pearl on the rock, and head up the stairs for a double battle. Surf all the way west, go up the steps, and pick up aRare Candy. Go back to the two trainers you just fought and go all the way north. You'll be ableto battle a trainer who's pacing back and forth. Go up the tiny waterfall and continue east. Godown the waterfall and pick up TM59 - Dragon Pulse. Go back up the waterfall and battle the

Dragon Tamer on land. Go south-west and up the steps, picking up the Big Mushroom hiddenon the rock across from it if you wish.

In this area, first head south-west to pick up a RazorClaw. Go back to where the old man stands and go upthe steps and follow the path until you reach a fat guyblocking a cave entrance. Pick up the Zinc near him.Now go back to battle to old man and go south until you

hit the ledge (don't jump over). Climb the rocks on the left, go west, go up the steps, push theboulders (push the ones on the side before pushing the one in the middle), and pick up TM79 -Dark Pulse. Go back and climb the rocks on the right side to continue. Battle the Dragon Tamerand head north out Victory Road.

You've finally arrived at the Pokemon League!

Pokemon League - The Pinnacle of Trainerdom

Once outside of Victory Road, head north up the largewaterfall, and you'll arrive at the Pokemon League.Inside the building, you'll face the Elite Four in battles toput your all the training you've done to the test. Beforeyou approach the person blocking the doorway, healyour Pokemon and stock up on items. A PC isdownstairs on the right side if you need to switch

Pokemon or anything. Once you're absolutely ready, goup to the person blocking the doorway and Rival willcome over to battle you. He's much stronger now thanbefore, so be careful. After defeating him, talk to the

person blocking the door, and he'll let you in to battle the first of the Elite Four after verifying allyour Gym Badges.

    ==I. INTRODUCTION===============================================================================

Welcome to my first FAQ for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This game is the bestofthe series in my opinion, and it's definitely the largest. You say you spent80hours on Pokemon Emerald? Well prepare to spend twice that on this one. Afterseeing the numerous topics asking the same old questions on the Diamond &Pearlboards, I decided it was time to write a FAQ. I hope this will cut down on thenumber of questions that get asked repeatedly, and may it help you in yourquest to become a "Pokemon Master"!

    ===============================================================================II. VERSION EXCLUSIVES===============================================================================
