I don’t know about your family, but the routine of a regular schedule can be very welcome. With that in mind, I recommend building spiritual habits into your teenager’s weekly routine as they head back to school. Try helping them with these habits: H – Hang time with God. A daily time alone with God for prayer and Bible reading. A – Accountability with other believers. Getting together weekly with a small group of friends to encourage one another toward a closer walk with God. B – Bible memorization. “Bible drill,” a weekly Bible memory group at church along with Bible memory apps on your smart phone. I – Involvement in church. Using spiritual gifts and talents to serve others. T – Giving or tithing generously. Using financial resources to contribute to the cause of Christ. S – Sharing Jesus with others. Always praying and seeking to love the lost by communicating the gospel. We want to partner with you to help your son or daughter begin the new school year with good spiritual habits, and make it a great year for new growth in Christ.

Enforcing boundaries can be one of the most difficult tasks of parenting teenagers. When your precious teenager tests their boundaries this summer, here’s a few things to keep in mind…

1. Gain Perspective – the ultimate goal of discipline is that our childre willbecome self-disciplined, and live a life pleasing to the Lord. We want them to be well-equipped to face life’s temptations with the ability to make wise choices. To help you gain perspective about communicating with your teenager in order to guide their behavior, consider the following passages:a. Psalm 94:12-13b. Proverbs 3:11-12c. Proverbs 15:5,31-32d. Hebrews 12:7-11

2. Start with Your Example – Many times our kids are simply doing what

they see being done. I know this is the worst! Spend time in prayer, confessing

your sins to the Lord and ask Him to strengthen your self-discipline. You are

probably aware of some habits that you see in your kids that reflect your own

habits. Don’t be afraid to share how God is working in your life and your
