Project Playground
Today you are faced with a big challenge, but if anyone can do it-IT IS YOU! Your school needs your help, and I am trusting you are the best problem solvers for the job. For this project to work, you must work together and respect the opinions of your teammates. Also, think about other points of view. How would ____________, your fellow classmates, and the younger students feel? Ultimately, your decisions must make them all happy!
1. Research and choose new playground equipment-You have a budget of __________ to spend on new equipment for our school playground. You must choose equipment that is safe, durable, and appropriate for kindergarten to fifth grade students. This can be anything you believe will enhance our space and make recess enjoyable.

1. Create a budget that includes the total equipment cost. Be sure to include 7% tax and any shipping costs. Also, if there is any maintenance cost for assembly, this must be included in the final price. Remember- you only have _________ to spend.
1. Design a model of the new playground. You can make a two dimensional or three dimensional representation of the new playground. This needs to be to scale and show the equipment placement. Will you keep any of the current features or equipment?
1. Type a detailed proposal to ______________ convincing him to purchase this equipment. Explain to him how you think this equipment will impact our school. Describe the vision you see for the playground and why this would be a wise investment for our school.
Playground of the Future
We were assigned to look into new playground equipment for the k-5 playground, so here’s what we found. Enjoy! We would like to have a jungle gym that cost $568.73. It is a combo it has lots and lots of stuff such as a climbing wall, monkey bars, little ladders, and pull up bars. It’s lots and lots of fun for grades 3-5. Don’t think we forgot about the little kids in k-2, we also thought about them, so here what we found. We found a 4-seat see-saw. It is very safe and secure it even has a place to put your feet. It is also very small, so it will not take up a lot of space. The see-saw cost $2,104.40. We have one more thing for play, Tether-ball! It is an item for all the students in this school. It is not destructive in price or in physical activity. The price is $662.80, it is also very small and fun for all ages!
Then we found some stuff for relaxing and helping the environment. Since a lot of people like to play kickball when it is warm, what about the people who watch kickball? We are thinking of getting 3-rowed bleachers for relaxation and for excitement. The cost of the 3-rowed bleachers is $492.22. We would also like another thing for relaxation and this one is for the teachers, a picnic table with a umbrella. The cost of the picnic table is $157.29, this item has free shipping! For the environment, we found a recycling bin and the cost is $282.08. What a way to bring the go-green spirit to our school!
All the prices included in this essay are included tax and shipping. The total cost of all the items listed are $4,267.52. Thank you for this opportunity and your time to experience our ideas.
Playground ProjectHere is our idea of the new playground equipment. We would like a classic
see-saw because a lot of kids love them and all ages can play on it. We also really like the Pioneer Peak. The Pioneer Peak has a slide, swinging bridge, a net climb, a rock climb, a telescope, swing and a shaded area. Also, it is fun for all ages. Another thing is it has a ten year warranty! For the little kids a Freddy the Frog Spring Rider it bounces back and forth for a fun and joyful ride!
Also, because people fight over swings, we would like to get 5 heavy duty commercial belt swing seats. The good thing about it is that you can pick the color of them. Also the swing seats are vandalism resistant so they won’t break. We also really like the Kaitlyn’s Schoolhouse Playhouse. Because all ages can play on it and it has a porch roof so on hot days we could rest under it! It is also 8x12 so there is plenty of room for whoever wants to play! We picked out some things that are for all ages and filled with fun!
1. Create a PowerPoint and write a script for your proposal. You may write these on paper or on notecards. Be sure to delegate who will present each of the following:
1. Playground Equipment (pictures and information)
2. Detailed Budget (including tax and shipping costs)
3. Playground Layout (model to be shown during this portion of the presentation)
4. Proposal (what makes this a good investment?)
Dear Mr. Cornette,
We have chosen some equipment that we think will be safe and
fun for our playground. We want to make sure that there is fun for
all ages on our playground. All the equipment is from BCI Burke, a
trusted source of playground equipment. The equipment will affect
our campus in a positive way! In many ways this will make the
students and teachers happy! You won`t have to worry about
safety all of the equipment we chose is very safe. We hope you will
consider our proposal.
Sincerely,
The Project Playground Team
