Hello, My name is David Johns. I am with Eminent Group and am lucky enough to be able to present to everyone on Planning from a Technical Perspective! Before I really get started, let’s talk about why this is important

Presentation Notes
Its Important because Logistics Loves Planning! Planning is one of the key functions to OTM that makes it stand out as well as it does in the industry. Planning has a lot of setup, inputs and constraints that all need to be fine tuned to your business model to make sure that you are getting the most of your OTM, and this presentation will try to touch on the ‘not so common’ pieces

So, now that we know why planning is important, lets try to figure out what exactly is the technical side of Planning! I am not here today to present on loading rates or conducting basic multistops, I am going to take a detailed look at the algorithms and code that run behind the scenes and ultimately result in the optimization of your bulk plan. Not really…

Presentation Notes
Most of you are probably familiar with how Special Services work. If an Order has a Special Service, than only Rate Offerings with that same Special Service can be used to move that order. Liftgate is a common example of a special service. That carrier has liftgate capabilities, but can also serve non Liftgate Orders, whereas that Order can only use Carrier Rates that have the Liftgate

Service Provider Profiles can be used to specify service provider that can or cannot be assigned to a destination location, however they cannot be used for: Service Provider Profiles are not specific to a Lane – Facility in Chicago and another in LA both Service a customer in Denver…. Service Provider Profiles are not specific to Mode - if you have a 2 TL carrier limitation, but any LTL, you need to specify every LTL ….and Parcel. Capacity can be used to help….

Planning Parameters are not what they used to be.. .in fact they are no longer Planning Parameters Sets…. But just Parameter Sets. Additionally, there are numerous logic configurations within the parameters sets… Making it quite a difficult task to keep up with knowing what each and everything does.
